04:58 Ultium batteries are pouch cells which are a known fire risk (Musk publicly warned the OEMs not to use them). They also contain cobalt.

So the Toyota CEO just confirmed he’s utterly clueless… …Further proof (if any were needed) that nepotism is a bad idea in multinational corporations.
3
I’m starting to wonder who it was that stockpiled chips... ...Toyota?
3
@bluecollardisruptor9584 Unless that’s because they know they couldn’t sell them.
3
It’s 10 milligrams heavier for a 100 kWh battery pack. That’s 0.0000005 % of the vehicle weight.
2
Most EVs have locking mechanisms to secure the charging cable while the vehicle is charging unattended.
2
Hydrogen can’t become cheaper than electricity because it’s hopelessly inefficient.
2
Source?
2
However ‘good’ a deal you thought you were ‘negotiating’, you were still paying for the massive overheads of dealerships that were added to the cost of the car. You not realising this just tells everyone here how clueless you are.
2
It’s much easier to just charge your EV at home and it’s 4x more efficient.
2
It’s nonsense, low grade heat is an appalling use of the energy, and the energy density of the storage is low.
2
Cope harder.
2
@jonpetter8921 You’re missing that Tesla isn’t just a car company, their revenue from MegaPack alone next year is on track to exceed their revenue from cars this year and with a much higher margin. VW not so much.
2
GM love spending taxpayers money, they know they’ll get another bailout.
2
That would defeat the purpose of selling them 🙄
2
Not completely true, patent agents usually have a degree in the knowledge domain and then do law.
2
@briancampbell179 Patents require specific phraseology, they aren’t intended for wide publication that’s why we have newspapers and journalists.
2
Be specific or go home
2
Thanks for the link, although a very new channel they have some interesting videos. (I gave no relation to the channel 🤣).
2
@Markcain268 This is defamation. There’s ZERO evidence Tesla pays anyone to promote their cars, they don’t need to. Now go accuse Marquis Brownlee of being paid by Tesla and see what happens.
2
@aftonline the battery chemistry hasn’t been changed, so the fire risk is still there, they’ve (presumably) reduced the risk, they can’t remove it completely.
2
The simplest explanation for the cause of this is the driver hitting the accelerator instead of the brake. Humans do this quite a bit and have been for decades.
2
it’s too hard to store and liquefying it alone throws away 30% of its energy.
2
Good question, my guess is mainly Li-Ion because they need the energy density.
2
“There’s a club, and you ain’t in it”.
2
Blatant lie. Why are you lying?
2
It’s 2kgs after 12,800 miles, but the filter is full after 200 miles. So each filter captures only 30g (1oz).
2
To make them massively toxic when involved in fires?
2
Carbon credits are less than 2% of Tesla’s revenue.
2
He made his presentation using a laptop with a Li-ion battery and his opening statement was that they shouldn’t exist 🙄 Total hypocrisy.
2
No, it isn’t, go do the maths and see for yourself.
2
Anyone who bothers to do their research can see that FSD is nearly there in practical terms.
2
Tesla have just posted a fantastic drone video of GigaBerlin.
2
Bill Gates has just openly stated in an interview that: “We made a terrible mistake. We wanted to protect people from a dangerous virus, but it turns out the virus is much less dangerous than we thought, and the vaccine is far more dangerous than anyone could have imagined”.
2
It’s hilarious how many basement dwelling Elon haters comment on this channel, it’s not obvious why they’re even here, either they have nothing better to do (sad), or they’re here because they’re paid to be 🤔
2
@benjaminsmith2287 Why are you even here?... ...oh wait, it’s because you’re paid to be.
2
@benjaminsmith2287 I’m not the one making nonsense comments.
2
Well done for telling everyone here that you don’t know how hydrogen vehicles work 🙄
2
Good points, however I’m guessing that none of them will still be true in less than 2 years from now. Also sales of CT aren’t going to ‘cannibalise’ 3s or Ys because 1) They’re totally different markets 2) Demand for 3s & Ys massively exceed supply. And you clearly don’t understand the ownership of shares. Go learn something instead of posting nonsense.
2
@donotcare44 nice answer
2
1) No it won’t 2) It doesn’t take hours
2
@timothykeith1367 Funny how when anybody presents irrefutable facts that call you out on your nonsense, you resort to attacking the person instead of admitting to spouting nonsense. Imagine my shock.
2
Ridiculous nonsense. The FSD chips were custom designed for Tesla by Jim Keller with v4 delivering up to 50 TOPS of performance.
2
There’s no need to totally ban ICE cars, just as there was no need to ban horses. The reality is that even the ban on producing them isn’t needed, market forces will resolve the issue (and are already doing so).
2
Considering it’s only a 5-seater!... ...Probably not. If they did a 12, they’d clean up.
2
You won’t when an EV is better and cheaper.
2
@neildolan7177 I’m referring to the 48V/Etherloop in the CyberTruck and future Teslas. It won’t be perfect but it will be much more reliable than current ICE cars.
2
Better go buy their shares then… …Just don’t complain when they go bankrupt.
2
1) Tesla superchargers aren’t intended for everyday use, most owners charge at home, they only use superchargers on their occasional longer trips. 2) Some Tesla owners get free charging. 3) The price you quoted is for NON-Teslas, nobody is forcing their owners to use the Tesla network. 4) Non-Tesla owners are effectively subsidising Tesla owners, if I had a Tesla I would be all in favour of such an arrangement. 5) ‘at the moment’ implies you think the price of diesel is temporary, think again, it’s only going to get higher, where I am it’s £1.86/Li = £8.44/g. At 50 mpg that’s 17p/mile. Electricity currently costs 28p/kWh, at 4.5 miles per kWh (Tesla-3) that’s 6p/mile or about 1/3 the cost of diesel. It’s not obvious to me why Tesla very generously allowing non-Teslas to use their network is a ‘bad thing’.
