  2. As a millennial newcomer to Star Trek, I will always be grateful to my friend, Darrell, whom I met in the gym in 2019. He is a life-long Star Trek fan and he helped me get into the franchise. He was also adamant that I avoid more of the kelvin timeline movies and shows and boy am I glad I listened to him. I watched the 2009 movie and thought it was okay but then I hated Into Darkness. Thanks to Darrell, I decided to buy the OG series, Next generation, Deep Space Nine and all the pre-kelvin movies.

Seth Rogen and people like him only take weed in excess as a recreational drug and it clearly shows the adverse effects in him. The fact that he is so disillusioned from reality that he thought making a movie attacking a holiday that brings families and loved ones together and promotes good will was a smart idea is only something a drug-fueled idiot like him would think up.

  7. 6:22 I am black and this useless character was the main reason I stopped buying American comics. I enjoyed the ANAD run of Iron Man with Tony Stark and once they replaced him with some random "flawless" black female token, I genuinely felt insulted.

  8. This is what I love most about pre-woke western media. It had nuance and handled socio-political themes properly. Plus, it never EVER tried to use itself as a means of pushing any kind of ideology or political viewpoint. Rather, it used politics, themes and social commentary as a way of developing and improving it central plot and overall story.

  11. Western media will NEVER give a hero's journey to female characters. Why? Because a hero's journey entails struggle, personal responsibility, self-reflection, loss, hard work, and eventually triumph but that requires female characters to be treated as people in "current year" progressive woke culture and that will never happen, except in anime and manga.

  12. Coudn't agree more, friend. I grew up watching the Star Wars in Nigeria as a kid in the 2000s and it still is one of my favorite franchises. The disney version is just mediocre at best and downright terrible at worst. I, especially, hate how they now use divisive identity politics to ruin good stories and attacks the fans and disregard canon. I am now indifferent and don't even care now. Thankfully, the Lucas era movies and tv shows are still available for me on DVD and I can enjoy the EU novels.

The disregard for the source material, the attacks on the fanbase, the use of divisive identity politics (seriously, I am black and I cannot tell how much I hate how they lable me a racist for not liking their woke trash yet they also use my race as a shield against criticism for said trash) I am just done. There is better entertainment elsewhere and I can always watch the Lucas era movies and shows and read the EU books.

  17. In anime and manga, there are multiple examples of well written, badass, likable, and entertaining lead or supporting female characters yet no one ever calls them woke. You know why? In Japan, they actually write them as characters (e.g. Mikasa, Misaka, Saber, Android 18 etc) with flaws, likable traits and development. They also make them visually appealing and avoid all the toxic identity politics westerners ALWAYS shove into their own media.

  21. This movie, aside from poor writing, pacing and world building, was just so disappointing to me on personal level. When I first immigrated to Canada from Nigeria, one of the comics that made me get into comics was Jonathan Hickman's New Avengers where T'Challa and Namor were bitter enemies but also part of the illuminati and worked to save the earth form destruction. They had a serious rivalry, an eventual battle (and WHAT A BATTLE IT WAS🤩) and reconciliation in the subsequent comics like Battle World and Secret Wars. Namor went from being an anti-hero, to a villain to a redeemed hero and T'Challa evolved as a hero and leader. It was wonderful. This movie ruined that and turned Namor into another victim-hood allegory and made Wakanda look stupid, sexist (the way they humiliate black men and men and men in general😖), and even more raciallly bigotted (Wakanda are disgustingly racist to everyone compared to the comics!) than the first movie. The brand of Black Panther was ruined the moment it went mainstream and woke identitarians got a hold of him. Now he is a joke.

They are currently the only modern mediums of fiction and entertainment that haven't been subverted/tainted by wokescum or progressive d-bags and it shows. You still see heroic male or female characters, feminine and likable female characters, proper character development etc.

  23. The MCU is basically following the path of marvel comics. During the 2010s, there was the long running event being orchestrated by Jonathan Hickman; one of the best comic book writers. It was over several issues from New Avengers, Time Runs Out, Secret Wars and battle World. it all culminated in the marvel comics multiverse being re-created and it was such a well done story and conclusion. Then the events that came after it were a disaster. It was All New All Different Marvel, basically Marvel's version of the new 52; utterly disjointed, lacking in purpose, pushing identity politics over good writing and characterisation, ruining established lore/canon and the sales were tanking.

They are devoid of wokeness and identity politics and where they do feature ideology and politics, it is used to enhance the story not to push "the message". In a recent clip from this film, the scene where she cleans the house in the original,here in the remake, she pretty much tells the dwarves to clean the house while in the original she actually joined the animals to clean the house for the dwarves before they even got home. One thing I have noticed recently is how so many of the creative greats in western society that I enjoy (growing up as a kid in the late 90s in Nigeria and watching bootlegged VHS of animations of classical literature😊) and that laid the foundation for pop culture or that made ground breaking works in the arts, usually tend to be men who either served in the military in some capacity or were born and raised in times of war or societal transition. e.g Edgar Rice Burroughs, J.R.R. Tolkien, Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time), Rudyard Kipling, Robert Louis Stevenson, Ernest Hemmingway. It just makes me think that to be a great story-teller in any capacity, one must have some form of lived experience that compels them to have a deep love for escapism and maybe be a fan or contemporary to history. If that's the case, I reckon we are gonna see a flourishing of creative writers and artists within the coming decades cause Lord knows we are living in some interesting times

  39. The main point about the original Snow White movie was that she had more inner beauty, innocence , kindness and inner strength than the evil Queen. That's why she was deemed fairer. But in this "modern" version, Ziegler and her attitude problem just make her so unappealing as Snow White.

I know not everyone cares for reading books and watching old tv shows but maybe you folks should try reading the EU novels and watching the Clone Wars TV show if you really want to enjoy some good Star Wars content?   43. It's a cycle of creation and destruction. A franchise/IP is created by an individual and gets a following after many trials and reworkings. They amass accolades and build a great fan base. Decades on, the stewardship of said franchise/IP is taken over by bean counters or ideologues with no collective stake or actual investment of any kind. Then said franchise/IP begins to decline and eventually fades out. But in the destructive phase, the better parts of the franchise/IP are remembered either by the long-time fans or by new fans looking it up and the seeds for a renaissance are sown. It's a cycle. There will be a boom of creative talent in the coming decades and a HUGE push-back against wokeness, progressivism and identitarianism in fiction and entertainment. It will not come today, tomorrow or next year because the current stewards aka SJWs and woke scum will never give up their power easily but it will happen.

As someone still new to Star Trek (i have just started watching the original series and Deep Space Nine on DVD), I may not have the knowledge of an older fan but I do appreciate this short film.
