Except for all the empirical evidence ...
3
@Globeisahoax except you can see that they are planets through a telescope and you can measure their distance, proving they are not close. Of course it helps to not be abysmally stupid …
3
@Globeisahoax look who's eating crayons again ...
3
Statistically 100% of people who eat lettuce will die - just goes to show how reliable statistics are when they are poorly worded. I suspect the statistics around flat earthers are similarly skewed. That said, they do exist but most of them already have a tenuous grip on reality, the remainder (and I suspect the vast majority) are just doing it for attention.
3
What empirical evidence would that be? I must have missed it ...
2
The tech still exists, the specific expertise to recreate the Apollo missions no longer exists - and why would you want to do that when technology is so much more advanced now? Given that the Apollo crafts were tracked all around the world, I think it’s rather unlikely that they were faked.
2
I’ll think you’ll find it’s “200 proofs” not 900. It’s ok, keep trying - one day you’ll get the whole counting thing. Then maybe you can move on to learning how to write a coherent sentence.
2
Well 1) they are vast distances away so the observable parallax is virtually imperceptible and 2) they are rotating with us around the galactic centre. There are a multitude of things about the way we observe stars that make no sense whatsoever on a flat earth but they don’t seem to focus on those things.
2
NoodleKDoodle I tend to think it’s the other way around - most are trolling, a handful are actually dumb enough to believe it. Never underestimate the lengths one will go to to annoy random strangers in comment sections.
2
KanqyesVEVO The earth is a sphere. Get over it.
2
It doesn’t say the earth is flat anywhere in the Bible.
2
Where did you pull that nugget of crap from?
2
@KangenAlec yeah I’m sure that’s it, sounds completely legit
2
I think you’re underestimating how dumb some people are
2
@MrSirhcsellor he’s just an idiotic troll. He used to go by KangenAlec, looks like he might have been banned.
2
@MrSirhcsellor fair enough
2
@MrSirhcsellor I assume you are Chris Rolles Illustrations on Facebook?
2
@MrSirhcsellor I like your work, you're very good
2
People make fun of flat earthers primarily because they are abysmally stupid and cringey.
2
@poldariser8686 I’m pretty sure “firmament” in the Bible has a different meaning to the one flat earthers talk about. And the Bible never specifically refers to earth as being a disk. If you want to take it literally, it describes earth as “God’s footstool” (whatever that means). Funny, I don’t see any footstool-earthers, no one seems to take that one literally ...
2
@poldariser8686 if you want the truth, you only have to examine the facts of observable reality to see that earth can’t possibly be flat, that’s just pure stupidity. Have you heard of the southern celestial pole?
2
@poldariser8686 a celestial pole is the point around which we see stars rotating, which astronomy tells us is the earth’s rotational axis. In the northern hemisphere Polaris sits pretty much bang on the northern celestial pole. So even though flat earthers can’t really agree on a model, they all agree that stars rotate around Polaris. Problem is this only works in the northern hemisphere. Everyone in the southern hemisphere sees the same thing happening in the opposite direction (ie. If they look south at night they see a different set of constellations rotating around the southern celestial pole). This simple observable fact tells us very clearly that flat earth is just a load of nonsense. There, you can stop investigating now. It’s not flat. You’re welcome.
2
@Globeisahoax you clearly crave the attention, stop pretending you don’t love it.
2
If you take the time to study it, there is nothing about the way we view the moon that doesn’t work on a globe. It definitely doesn’t work on a flat earth though. For a start, if it was local and small like they claim, we’d see it from different angles and phases but that never happens - their entire belief system unravels from that one observation.
2
@markjaycox8811 it would be helpful if I had the first clue what you were talking about
2
@markjaycox8811 hmm yes I see
2
@markjaycox8811 fascinating
2
Imagine how Nikola Tesla would feel knowing he was the poster boy for a bunch of science illiterate morons. Probably a good thing he didn’t live to see it.
2
Hamster Lord don’t let being a complete moron get in the way of your perceived genius.
2
Dunning Kruger in full display
2
@Globeishoax it’s so obvious that you are KangenAlec under a different name. Why don’t you do something useful with your life other than spamming comment sections with utter crap?
2
AreUawake I’m not here to answer your dumb arse questions. If Polaris is at the center of your imaginary dome then you would have direct line of sight from the North Pole to Antarctica and everywhere in between. But we don’t. It disappears below the horizon south of the equator, just as you would expect on a globe - funny that!
2
AreUawake here’s another question for you - why is it that anyone with the words “awake” or “truth” in their user name comes across as a drooling window licker?
2
AreUawake you telling me to “piss off” if I can’t answer your question was your version of being polite was it? If you want to have a civil conversation then I’m happy to dial it back a notch but if you’re just here to draw attention to your channel then I’m really not interested.
2
AreUawake I watched your video (probably against my better judgement). To be honest I really don’t get what you’re trying to say - maybe you can explain it to me here? I definitely didn’t see anything “globe destroying” in there.
2
AreUawake no, you’re a globe denier apparently - same coin, different side. Nah man, I gave your video the time of day and it made no sense. If you can’t make a point clearly then I’m not going to waste my time trying to decipher it. I’ve learned from bitter experience not to waste time over the nonsense spewed out by conspiracy nutcases. I’ve studied astronomy both as an amateur enthusiast and at university. Observations of the celestial sphere don’t conflict with the heliocentric model or the fact that we live on a globe. They just don’t. But if you want to believe idiotic conspiracy theories then you go right ahead.
2
AreUawake your video has some production values, I’ll give it that. I’m sorry if I’m coming across a bit harsh, it’s healthy to question scientific concepts but 99% of science deniers, or whatever you want to call them, are just woefully ignorant and totally uninterested in hearing any explanations if it conforms to the mainstream scientific narrative. To see this utter bollocks not only being spread around as “factual” by people who really have no idea what they’re talking about but to also see them being championed by other equally clueless individuals is disturbing to say the least.
2
Yes I’d like to know what these holes are in the globe model. Seems pretty solid to me.
2
Please do tell. What brought you back?
2
That's a very simplistic view leading you to an erroneous conclusion.
2
At least Donald Trump is real.
2
@Globeisahoax Are you still going?? You really are a sad individual.
2
Jason Wallace except water conforms to whatever force is being applied to it - in the case of a massive object like earth, that force is gravity. And if you think I’m going to start arguing with you whether gravity is a real thing or not, don’t bother. I don’t care about your opinion - along with the world’s entire scientific community.
2
Our senses are totally unreliable as scientific tools. To think otherwise is just plain ignorant.
2
Flat earthers do a very good job of making themselves look stupid, videos like this only highlight it.
2
Can you name one of their good points? I must’ve missed it.
2
Have you considered the possibility that you don’t understand what level actually means?
2
@pauladams5083 it actually has multiple meanings depending on its context. In simplistic terms, yes it just means horizontal. In a wider context it can mean various different things. Look up the definition of sea level and you’ll get a variety of definitions. Earth’s curvature is rarely taken into account for most practical purposes. You do realise that our planet is quite large don’t you? But there are a instances where it becomes a factor - very large bridges for examples. Besides, if earth was flat then why do we see large objects sink below the horizon the further we get away from them? It seems like a fairly obvious sign that we live on a spherical planet. Otherwise logically we would see them disappear to a point. I’ve never heard a rational counter argument from flat earthers for that.
2
@pauladams5083 Sorry but I'm not going to watch any video made by that idiot. If you believe anything that Phuket Word says then you are a true imbecile. "To say surveyors account for the curvature of the Earth is a lie." Ever heard of geodetic surveying? You might want to look it up. Look, it's not that hard to determine that Earth is a sphere. The fact that we have two celestial poles is a clear indication that the flat earth theory is a massive load of bollocks. Until a flat earth model can account for this observable reality - which, of course, will never happen given that it is counterintuitive to the whole concept - then Earth is a sphere. Get over it!
2
Show me a flat earth model that explains why everyone in the southern hemisphere who looks south at night sees the same star constellations rotating around a point due south, no matter what continent they're on, then I'll be interested in what you've got to offer.
