@DieselCreek good thing that it runs on multi fuel
19
@AvtomatKentucky101 you can still get the mice and wasps indoors
11
@DieselCreek can’t wait to see the constructor back in action
8
@DEFiANCE665 you won’t know until you try
8
That’s why I’d like to get my dad’s backhoe working again, the one my dad has is a mid 70’s Case 580BCK
7
Is it possible to put power steering in?
6
@travisloftin169 that’s gonna make the mechanics go nuts
5
It will probably also be useful for putting the old 50’s auto car back together
5
@Rorschach1024 that’s odd, my dad has a backhoe and bulldozer from the early 1970’s and 1980’s and yet I’m able to get almost all of the parts for them. The only parts that aren’t available for them anymore are either the backhoe’s engine (which can be rebuilt) or small plates (battery cover for backhoe and movement control cover for bulldozer) which can easily be made at a metal fabrication shop
4
Especially since he can actually use it to haul stuff. He might want to consider boosting the horse power though
4
@rebelyank6361 my dad has an 8N that belonged to my grandfather, it’s a 50’s model and still runs
4
Well his 80’s autocar is in pretty good shape
3
@usernotfound-ue7ld yet all it needed was some shims, a new axle, rims, and possibly tires in order to be functional
3
@matthewtaylor3308 that was right around when the Cuban Missile Crisis happened so there was the looming threat of WWIII breaking out
3
@christopherweise438 same, I got my Ferris mower stuck and used my dad’s winch to get it out after using the bulldozer and chain combo to get my dad’s 2016 F-350 out of the mud (I got the 350 stuck trying to pull out the Ferris). I’ve also used an excavator with a chain to get the ride mower out (when the bulldozer wasn’t working and didn’t want to risk the truck/winch)
3
@ethanspaziani5269 my dad’s backhoe was like that, it was able to run and be used despite having multiple problems (one brake was gone, it had multiple leaks, and was missing the seat) until the engine started knocking
3
Same here, the trade off is that transporting a backhoe is easier than transporting an excavator since you don’t necessarily need a trailer to do it as most backhoe tractors are able to drive on road
3
Sounds like my dad’s older generators
2
You made out like a bandit with that deal
2
My dad has a tractor like that one, i believe it’s also an 8N
2
@crzy11000 same for my dad’s backhoe and bulldozer and they are both between 40 and 50 years old, not all of the parts are available but most of them are but not always cheap
2
@BlueDually4x4 he has another autocar and it’s bigger
2
Christine was brutal on Matt since it needed to much done
2
@dennispalmer6007 it probably was better than it is now in some ways but climate change would’ve happened either way, it might’ve been more preventable if people listened about it earlier though
2
@HiddenValleyHomestead I don’t need to get either since my dad and I have both a bulldozer and skid steer, both have some issues but are good machines
2
@dailydiesel9875 I learned it the hard way too
2
@randomdude9269 old machines are work horses if treated well
2
@ethanspaziani5269 sounds right. All my dad’s backhoe needs to be usable is having it’s engine rebuilt. I had accidentally ran the engine too low on oil and didn’t realize it was knocking since the machine is loud, thankfully we shut it down before it could get worse. Hopefully we will eventually rebuild the engine since getting a newer used backhoe in decent shape would cost more than rebuilding the engine would
2
@jackgreen412 that’s what they would’ve been used for
2
This one didn’t need a huge amount of resurrecting
2
Maybe you should add power steering to the F250
2
@nicholas4839 The 1980’s autocar is actually roadworthy now
1
@crzy11000 probably
1
Rip maple tree, you risked your life to save this machine from the creek
1
If I had to add anything to Christine it would probably be panels and windows to completely the cab, that way the driver is protected from the weather
1
@johndowe7003 ok
1
@norman7179 whereas the Mack can go both ways
1
I’d also get a roof for it, that way it can be used even if it rains
1
And possibly add an addition or two
1
@BeachBoyAAA there was a little internal damage because the engine wasn’t sitting right, that’s why the shim’s were needed
1
It could probably use a roof too
1
I’d add a battery powered fan
1
@martymartin2894 yea
1
@DieselCreek those can be replaced
1
@DieselCreek would it be better to modify it to have hydraulic cylinders?
1
D8
1
@cooldog60 it can be
1
I can relate since I’ve had to use a dozer to solve some problems
1
It would be nice to see both of them brought back to life but this one is still great
1
I’d redo the bench seat
