  1. Belarus becoming TikTok warriors like Ukraine. Slick vids and FPV view like they are playing Call of Duty. Young men love that stuff for some reason. I think thats to make Ukraine keep forces in the north as they are infantry only and no combat experience. Now, if we see vehicles and artillery in those Belarus vids then that means they are coming

  2. CNN doesn't report it, but it's clear Russia has gone ape-shit the past week with bombardment in Ukraines interior. The last four or five days summaries are just constant rain of Iskander, guided bombs, Tornado-S strikes in over 70 towns. The vids are all by Orlan drone and half at night so no idea what is being hit. Some do show rockets popping off after the strike so I'm sure ammo dumps are a large number of targets. The Naval attack was spectacular, and NATO appears to be taking the gloves off, but Russia also seems to have upped its game.

The military historian in me is fascinated by the tactical minutia of modern warfare, but tbh this is politically the stupidest modern war I've heard of; probably only the Franco-Prussian war was more stupid. This is basically a civil war---Ukrainians and Russians 20 years ago would look at you crazy if you asked them "is that your enemy?"

Your conservative methodology around showing territory under control of either side is greatly appreciated and one of the reasons this channel is one of only 2 or 3 that are my "go to" when I need to confirm or discredit what I see on BBC or CNN. Some other mil bloggers today show a bit more Russian advance north of Bakhmut, but even they also admit they cannot confirm if Russia has the whole town or just a part of it. Stay true to who you are!!

  18. All those AFU FPV drone hits in the north, the signal goes about 4/5 seconds before they hit; you can see them gyrate before the signal cuts out. RU is jamming them in that area to cover their advance.

On CNN all day there were 2000+ comments that it was "old airframe, 45 year old plane, old electronics, old this or that, etc." , then just an hour ago at the Pentagon briefing some reporter asked "what about the new electronic warfare equipment it was carrying" , and Singh only responded that you have to 'ask the Ukrainians' ; she did not deny there was some new EW on it. So, Biden gave Napolensky some new EW tech and on the FIRST NIGHT it was used, it got smoked...."

  24. AFU fights well; I'll give them that. Their leaders make terrible decisions but the man in the mud does his duty. However, no matter how much they resist on a tactical level, at the strategic level, Ukraine (and their NATO sponsors) have completely failed, of that there is no doubt. The whole "cut the land bridge blahh, blahh" was a complete and total failure; they got five miles in six months. Yesterday Zaluzhny admitted what everyone knows; they can't push Russia out, all they can do is resist. That is FAILURE. The whole point of the war was to push Russia out (so NATO can move missiles and ships into a "NATO" Ukraine): that was what both sponsor and proxy wanted. That is now admitted to be impossible. So, what is AFU fighting for now?

I know more about Russian history and how that relates to others in that region, than Nigerien history and how it relates to others in that region. Probably need a whole series on the cultural, religious, financial, history. A lot of reading needed as a prereq for this class...

  33. Its a ghastly thought, but just imagine how many AFU are buried in basements, dugouts, bunkers, "spider-holes"; under concrete, wood, dirt, or trash, in almost three years of intense combat. Just look at the map; the "red" long ago spread over and beyond the "lines" that represented static fortification defenses (bunkers and trenches). Look at the literally millions of shell craters, just imagine how many rockets airburst at those areas, how many cluster bomblets, mines etc. before RU passed them by. Battlefield archaeologists will still be finding AFU remains in 2259...

  42. I'm putting it out there: Biden not going to give JASSM missile or any approval for longer range attack with ATACMS. Biden cannot start a war without Congress approval, and if Russia says this is an "Act of War", Biden has to go before Congress to justify why US should take the risk of starting a war. He ain't gonna do that two months before election. He will say "NO", or he'll give the satellite target data to UK and only the Storm Shadow can be used.

  45. We are at the point NATO simply cannot go any further without themselves entering the war. Biden said "NO" on the missiles for the same reason Scholz has said no for months; the programming can only be done by trained German/US/UK troops using satellite data and software only the US has. Ukraine would literally be reduced to just pushing the button to launch; and no one could disagree that is where "ally" becomes "participant". Germany is out, UK seems to want to risk it, but Joe Biden cannot risk that two months before an election...

Every AFU FPV drone vid in the northern part of Avdiivka this week shows signs of signal jamming; the vid is clear until it gets within maybe 300 to 500 meters of the target then it gets fuzzy and the horizon starts gyrating wildly. RU probably has 10 or 20 signal jammers in a 2km square box of territory to cover their northern advances.

  48. Like many, I expected Russia to send 100K men and 1000 tanks into Ukraine by now, like it was Eastern Front 1945. At first I scratched my head at their obvious reluctance to do so. I think that pervasive surveillance plus abundant guided weaponry has turned any war for territory between equally matched opponents into a version of WW1. I mean, the Krasnopol round can hit a MOVING tank from 20 miles away (as long as the drone guiding it remains unseen). That round is big enough to obliterate ANY armored vehicle of any type from anywhere 100% of the time. So how do you win? The old fashioned way when your armies cancel each other out; economic strangulation. No two warring factions are equal everywhere and Russia has a 100-ship Navy while Ukraine has none. Takes longer to subdue your foe this way, but much higher likelihood of success. I think we may be in for "forever war"; Biden sure doesn't want Ukraine to collapse in the next year so he won't allow them to talk OR allow them to be crushed.
