Thats the price of Zelensky's choice. Two years ago he could have just chosen neutrality and non-alignment, and no cities in rubble, no ports destroyed, no having to travel the world a beggar, no 500,000 dead and maimed for life. Pretty steep price just to trade one master for another....
5
No one knows. I think both are true; the plane had weapons but Russia knew about the threat so stuck some POWs on there at the last minute to deter AFU from shooting at it. Zelensky made the call to sacrifice the POWs to get the plane.
5
I tend to agree but for a different reason; since the Fall of Bakhmut Russia has had the initiative and terrorist attacks in Belgorod just proved to me Ukraine's core combat power is weakening so they have to do guerilla warfare. Keeping the Russians at bay for a while in Kherson DOES help, but it only delays the inevitable. If Russia sends two 25K man army groups into Ukraine in two different areas one will be checked while the other will blitz all the way to Kyiv.
5
Will NATO help?? What if I say "Putin helped the prisoners escape". Then will France take care of its mess??
5
Bummer. He was supposed to get a nice flat, a pretty wife, and 50 years of bieng used as a propaganda pawn against the US. What happened??
5
The "world"?? Why the fucc would Chile care about Ukraine? Or Nigeria? Or Jamaica? Or Vietnam? Or Japan? Or the United States??
5
On day 1 NATO believed Russia was "poorly led conscripts that have only shovels and will run out of missiles"
5
I've lost count of how many times in 2022 and 2023 AFU guys sent selfies of themselves in front of a key location and CNN or BBC ran with it, then a week later they were impossible to find as they were in Valhalla..." 😂
5
Russia now must occupy the entire Ukrainian coast both in the Black Sea and along the Danube. Its the only way to be sure
5
I like how that guy told that Western reporter off. Why is an enemy reporter even allowed into the country?
4
@Cheese_Boi1986 they pulled back to get the Istanbul 2022 deal signed before UK f'ed them. Won't happen this time. 😂
4
Whatever it was came from Ukraine. Lots of proof countering Zelensky narrative. Just like the pipeline, the dam, the pizza cafe, the "grain" ship, etc .
4
Wait....Steele? How on Earth does Christopher Steele possess any credibility???? May as well ask Snoop Dogg what he thinks of all this...
4
Yes, but it is purely symbolic. Even that warmonger Blinken admits "they won't affect the outcome of this offensive, and will only allow Ukraine to establish local air superiority over Kyiv's skies". Russia is more annoyed than afraid: 24 planes the Danes were retiring next year anyway, plus 18 more that have been up for sale for years. 42 planes like so many 2012 Kias on a cheap car lot. Against 800 Su-27s, Su-30s, and Su-35s. Ummm, yeah....ok. Another "game changer" burning on the Steppe like all the others before it ..
4
"...unless Kyiv regime capitulates on Russia's terms...or Ukraine will cease to exist." Direct quote yesterday from the Speaker of Russia's Lower House of Parliament (Duma). I don't see a lot of nuance there...
4
At least the UK is getting paid ; we here in the US are paying for the 2000 lb. JDAMs IDF is using.
4
This is nauseating. Bell talks about "150 Ukrainians were killed..." like he's talking about a football match. These young men are dying----gone from this Earth forever, all possibilities for their futures forfeit----in pain and horror, so NATO can get its way and one day have the chance to move their missiles in Romania and Poland a bit closer to Russia by putting them in a NATO-ized Urkaine??? That's what they are giving their lives for? To help the US/UK throttle Russia? A neutral Ukraine would have given its people all the "freedom" to go to school, love who they want, etc. This is a terrible waste of human life in one of the dumbest wars I've ever seen in my life.
4
Who here really believes Ukraine is currently "winning"? No future "if only they had this game-changer"; just right now with what they have today, who believes Ukraine has the upper hand militarily?
4
"We wuz wobbbed!"
4
Hmmm, Brit Challenger, American MaxxPro and Stryker, German Marder, Canadian Senator....did I miss any? Long past time to stop saying "AFU" and say "AFN" ---- "Armed Forces of NATOkraine."
4
Massive AFU infantry attack on Novopropivka today....utterly beaten back by entrenched Russians. Russia no longer using Ka-52 very much in Zaporizhzhia as there are no targets worth it. Ukraine uses few armored vehicles during attacks because they always get destroyed, FPV drones and artillery are enough to deal with the offensive now. No need to use an attack helicopter 😂😂
4
Oh just like the Ukrainians did last week in Belgorod? Make it rain steel Russia, make it rain...
4
What if its both sides' "homeland"?
4
Airborne drones represent the only offensive power they have left.
4
48 drones hit Odessa last night. Can we see that video SKY?
4
If true, Ukraine made him a hero while the reality on the ground hasn't changed one bit, nor will the outcome. In a few years Russia will put his likeness on a war memorial that faces West and "he" will gaze upon his defeated foes for the next thousand years. A fitting end for any lifelong soldier.

Russia becomes Europe's biggest economy report "Aug 4, 2023 · Russia was among the world's five largest economies and the largest in Europe in terms of purchasing power parity (PPP) as of the end of 2022, despite Western sanctions, the latest World Economics report has revealed.." Now THAT is a news story. NATO sanctions Russia to the greatest degree it can, and 18 months later Russia's economy is bigger than that of Germany or France.
4
Wrong: 2nd Battle of the Bulge.
4
Germany at least had an objective: Antwerp.
4
Worthless thing died without even seeing another tank to fire at. Just like all the Leopard 2s; they all get blasted by 10 other types of weapons long before their supposedly "superior" ability to fight tanks ever gets used. May as well have sent some Churchills from the Imperial War Museum.
4
Leopard 2 and Challenger trophies, I'd bet.
4
@razmataz7240 You lost! Nothing can change that! Every life lost since that day was WASTED!
4
I shudder to think what Russia is going to do to Ukraine now. Putin has been trying to negotiate for months and NATO always says "NO". What happens when Putin finally realizes there is no other way but to go all in???"
4
Well of course when it dries out it can be used again; all the trenches are now ruined so kind of makes sense Ukraine wanted it this way. However that will take weeks so I really don't think Ukraine blew it up just to make Russian anti-tank mines float so they could attack through there in late July. If it was Ukraine (with US blessing), they did it to keep Russia from attacking THEM through there while they concentrate on Zaporizhzhia. If Russia did it, it could make some sense but the Kherson defense lines were just as strong as those in Zaporizhzhia so why would they flood their own defense line in one place just to push their enemy to attack in another? Matters little for the time being as Leopard 2s and AMX10s have been clearly spotted in Zaporizhzhia now so we know elements of the NATO-trained attack force is there.
4
Trying to keep track of who is a "war criminal" and who isn't has become like mental spaghetti. When everyone is a "war criminal"....no one is.
4
Scholz said "no" again....
4
By the end of this war, there will be at least a dozen "Great Mysteries of the Russo-NATO War" on History Channel in the 2050s. Episodes will include: "Who blew up Nordstream?" , "Who blew up Kakhovka dam?" , "Where did half of the $300B for Ukraine go?" , and now "Who shot the Slovakian Prime Minister?"...
4
I can hear Russia laughing from all the way here in Oklahoma….
4
I think it has already begun, actually.
4
How can anyone give a "timeline" for Ukraine to join NATO when the existence of Ukraine is currently up for grabs? Putting Ukraine in NATO while the war is going on is basically the opening ceremony of World War Three. It is obvious Ukraine is unable to eject Russia no matter how many "game-changer" weapons they are given, so "Ukraine" does not even currently have defined borders. All a "timeline" would do is tell the Russian Army how much time they have to occupy the entirety of Ukrainian territory.
4
One of these guys was in Virginia getting new limbs and the local paper interviewed him a couple weeks. He said: "...right now those going to the front last an average of three days before becoming a casualty."
4
In storming/assault, probably yes they are most experienced. However overall the best troops are Pacific Fleet Marines; they are absolutely murdering Ukraine in Zaporizhzhia all month long.
4
I'm 100% certain that NATO "training army" in Poland is going into Ukraine by the summer. NATO has to protect its investment
4
@RaRa-eu9mw Slow dancing with NATO is not "neutrality".
4
Our astronauts stranded in space. Last month: "US announces $3.9B in aid to Ukraine......to pay salaries and pensions of all their government/military/public employees...."
4
This is essentially "Pearl Harbor" for Hezbollah....
4
At this rate they'll raise the flag over Bakhmut sometime in 2031.
4
This is something that is beyond imagining. It really is something Hollywood couldn't make up. Like the "Red Wedding" from Game of Thrones come to life.
3
Just once in my lifetime I'd like a sentence with the word "Israel" to NOT also have the words "United States"....
3
These two must succeed, or the world will suffer. NATO has become so powerful, so unopposed, there is no force on earth to give it pause. To cause it to see the value in diplomacy. It looks at its vast wealth, and superior weaponry, and Force is the only option to deal with problems because, well, they can.
