Charging and range anxiety is a major issue apart from the displaced pollution and child slavery. Love it or hate it, diesel and petrol are the future mate.

  14.  @alexanderbrown8308  NO IT DOESN'T!! When I was a diesel mechanic I had derv boiling on a hot manifold and for that matter petrol too. They both require ignition. You are talking rubbish mate.

  15. So what happens when an EV catches fire in the streets and they hose it down with contaminated water running into the drains? But even if you were an EV owner would you want to park in amongst a pack of other EVs?

  16.  @chriswhite691  Some very good inside info has come out that it was an EV on personalised plates. MSM are keeping it quiet. In any case his not flawed at all. It can well be a soft hybrid. Workers at the airport know it was electric. It will come out soon.

  26.  @GerbenWulff  The chance of a Li-ion fire is smaller than the chance of an ICE car fire? Yeah right. That's why they are being banned everywhere. Parked ICE vehicles are rarely a danger. In my profession as a police officer for 30 years the only car fires I came across were arson after theft, some collisions or someone carelessly working on one.

  33. Considering C02 is not a harmful gas in any way, and that crude oil is not a finite resource (it regenerates deep underground like water) this is sheer insanity. The world has truly gone mad. Since 2018 I came to the realisation that we are now living in a parallel world to Alice in Wonderland.

  34. They are starting to price diesels off the road. My 1997 Land Rover Defender tax now costs me £325 pa!! I remember when I used to pay £25 pa. Now the road tax is more than my insurance. An absolute DISGRACE! They will find more ingenious ways of kicking us where it hurts. There is NO climate crisis. Just a tax crisis.

  39. That is just changing one form of kinetic energy into another form of kinetic energy, minus the friction and heat. That leaves less energy than you started with. Although I am sure there will be some advantages, but lost energy is lost energy.

  40.  @DwaynePipes  That will be an electrical fault if it did, Diesel oil will not combust on its own. Having been a mechanic in my early career, I can tell you that ICE don't catch fire on their own. For petrol, they require a spark and a leak in the same vicinity and diesel is very hard to catch even with a lighted match. However, EVs can spontaneously combust for many reasons.

  43.  @williammeek4078  Ask yourself who does the polls. Anyone can say anything, doesn't mean it's true if you're being paid and that does happen as they have a lot to lose. Many who drive EVs are company leased and have charging facilities available to them. Many have free charging and they don't pay VAT on electricity for them either. Things will change when VAT is added - and it will be. Private owners will have a shock when they require repairs or want to sell them, that's why dealers can't shift them. Insurance, parking and ferries will soon be a big issue too. Look into it properly rather than on some pro EV site.

  44.  @oldbloke204  That is true for petrol on long haul but not the case with smaller ferries. But EVs are unstable all the time. That's why a Scandinavian Ferry company has banned hem.

So many fires, driving out of control, no brakes, water getting into the cells, over ride locks not working to name but a few and THAT is dangerous. That is why they are stored in insurance pounds 15 metres away from anything else. Ferries will ban them soon as they are doing with e bikes.The type of L-ion batteries used on bikes and cars can be deadly as they cannot be put out easily. So no - it is NOT foolish.
