  4. We went to an M&S a few weeks back and noticed security tags on steaks. We asked the cashier about theft and he told us it was prolific with people clearing whole racks of clothes and filling bags of food and leaving. Staff were told not to get involved (no beefy security guards to be seen) so it is basically giving them the green light. This is going on everywhere now. Barriers may help with this but it is a slippery slope to Hell. I won't go into who these people are but most of us can guess. What has this country become? That said it is an issue which has been imported. I do remember in the 2000s certain groups going in in gangs to leather shops and stealing large amounts, but it has got a lot worse. I know because I was dealing with it all in my profession.

  9. People must tell them you will only be searched by a uniformed police officer after the store has alleged You have stolen something and named the item. They have NO POWER to do this. We spoke to M&S staff who told us that people often just fill bags or clear clothes racks and no one stops them.

  13. It isn't always serious offences either. People who drive for a living can easily get caught a few mph over the limit several times per year by cameras set up in places where they know it's confusing but is not dangerous. It is a war on motorists and it's easy money.

I will tell my energy company that if they can prove to me they are safe in all respects and will sign a contract to take all responsibility for any adverse events on my families health, fires and data collecting. Once they have done that to my satisfaction then I will accept one. Of course they would never do that but if they did I would place a Faraday cage around it and lead line my meter cupboard. And have it repositioned as far from my house as possible. If they don't trust me to send me readings in (which I always do) then that is their problem not mine.

  35. We visited a decent sized town in Devon quite a few years ago only to find that the last bank had closed. On enquiring I was told that the small shop come Post Office would give me cash. The owner was letting people have cash but was furious that there were no banks left and that he was basically having to try to support all the local businesses on his own. When I moved 3 years ago from Dorset my market town lost its last bank about 5 years ago. It used to have four.

  41. The idea of shoplifting where the value was below a certain amount and small amounts of Cannabis for 'personal use' started in London in the early 2000s. We often made the offender put it down the nearest drain! In the police we were told to refer the shop owners to Civil Remedies. That was very rarely done as the cost would have been prohibitive for them. The government want law and order to break down and the country to collapse, so they can bring in Martial Law.

  47. When I took my police response and advanced driver course in about 1990 we were told to drive at 10% over and it was called 'Progressive Driving'. Never heard of the 3mph add on though. I would never have reported and driver unless they were 10mph over but more often than not it would be just a warning. Making it is ridiculously tight will only take a driver's attention away from the road to the speedo and that can be dangerous.
