So that hundreds of years from now people will sing songs about a great, good and noble people who choose to starve with nobility and equanimity for the principle of autarky and not accepting trade, investment, loans and aid from others? This is an inspiration road. But a very hard road. Most countries cannot survive autarky without starvation. This thread started off as a response to: "Africa y’all have our support from your fellow African Americans in the US!! Y’all got this" What do you think about African Americans?

  10. Agree with you. I would add Arab and extreme sunni islamist imperiailsm. Do you see Pres Mohamed Bazoum as too close to the Arab League and GCC? The Niger army and armies across Africa are popular, respected and honored. The Niger army heroes have with great valor and courage pushed by Daesh (Boko Haram) and Al Qaeda. How can they be persuaded to bring forward the free and fair 2025 elections to 6 months from now? How can violence now be avoided? This conflict greatly benefits Daesh and Al Qaeda.

Plus Pres Ruto has probably negotiated something in return for the Kenyan contribution to Haiti. Kenyan troops need advanced training to deal with the many challenges in EAC . . . and international missions is part of the effort to surge the perfection, excellence, capacity, competence of the Kenyan security forces. Haiti does not have sunni islamist takfiri jihadis. Ergo, it is doable.

  18. Coming back when someone is 60 is very valuable to Africa. A 60 year old can do a lot in bus dev, angel investing, consulting, mentoring . . . even if they don't want to found a new company or be part of the starting team of a new company. Why are African countries paying such high interest rates? Is part of it over the ESG CRS? Is part of it Div Equity and Inclusion? Not paying debts back is a bad idea. Fully separating from France from a position of weakness is a bad idea. Why not try to be everyone's friend and everyone's strategic client? This would give many African countries more strategic autonomy from France.

  19. Soldiers should obey the chain of command and the democratically elected government. If soldiers disobey the chain of command the country collapses into mass violence and chaos. Please lobby the Nigerian elected Senate and House.

When Niger drops socialism and adopts globalized capitalism . . . when Niger becomes unapologetically pro business . . . when Niger exponentially increases the number of elites, lower middle class, middle class, upper middle class and rich . . . when Niger expats and diaspora come home . . . when there is an increase in positive inequality . . . when Niger academic performance skyrockets. . . . this is when we will know that Niger is brave. If this happens, poverty in Niger will collapse and the Niger poor will greatly benefit.

  25. Latin Americans and Asians (with a few exceptions such as China) are generally liberal free democracies. The optics of them supporting a military junta that overthrew a liberal free democracy look very bad. They are very unlikely to help the military junta. Plus, France is not unpopular Latin America and Asia. Many of them remember France's help to them in resisting other imperial powers (English, Spanish, Soviet, Portuguese, Chinese, islamists, even the USA etc.) with fondness.

  30. Hasn't the South African economy greatly deteriorated since 2008? Is this partly Naledi Pandor's fault? [Please note that many other African countries are economically booming.] Iran has a failing economy and is ruled by an extremely unpopular and illegitimate dictator, Sayyed Khamenei? Wouldn't it be wiser to ally with more powerful successful powers? Such as the great powers of Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Western Europe and North America?

  33. This is not accurate. Many African countries are in a desperate struggle with Al Qaeda, Daesh and their affiliates and need as much help as they can get from Wagner, Russia, China, Japan, India, Brazil, Europe, Canada, USA, South Korea and everyone else.

  36. Who is ECOWAS's master? China? Russia? France? UK? USA? Canada? Brazil? Germany? Italy? Spain? Portugal? India? Japan? South Korea? Indonesia? Arab League? GCC? Many great foreign powers influence ECOWAS. As long as ECOWAS is backed by many great foreign powers, then doesn't this give ECOWAS some real strategic autonomy?

Maybe kicking France out would reduce ECOWAS's leverage and ability to negotiate great deals with other global powers?

Didn't Singapore do this by becoming almost everyone's best friend forever (BFF)? Didn't Singapore do this by selling out to everyone? If Singapore successfully did this and is doing this, what is wrong with Africans doing this and becoming the richest and most successful group of people in the world?

  40. Mohamed Bazoum won 56% of the vote in 2021. Why couldn't he be elected out in 2025? Why the rush to remove him so quickly? How do you know that the coup is popular with more than half the Niger population. There has not been an election. How do you know Mohamed Bazoum was a puppet leader? If he was a puppet leader, why would 56% of Niger voters vote for him in 2021?

  42. I am generally impressed by Kemi. But am even more impressed by Ify Igwe. Please have Ify give as many reports as possible. I will be watching. Britain is also falling behind Eastern Europe, some other parts of Europe, Asia, USA. And can learn a think or two from Nigeria and Africa too. I would think one of Kemi's great strenghts would be her understanding of Africa and her ability to exponentially increase trade, business, investment, joint R&D with Africa. And to grab as much elite talent from Africa as possible that becomes hyper patriotic long term British citizens. Hope Kemi pulls this off.

  50. What is wrong with the Niger government inviting troops from Israel and Russia to help them fight Daesh and Al Qaeda? Perhaps Israel can negotiate an agreement between the military junta and Bazoum and ECOWAS, resolving this conflict? Wouldn't Niger people trust Israelis more than others?
