Birds of a feather flock together. A good men can evaluate another good man. A good woman can evaluate another good women.
My daughter is 11 and my twin sons is 18. I told my sons that, when after sometimes they engage with a girl, bring them to their mom (my wife). My wife must be able to evaluate their girlfriends, by means to see their attitude, spirit, character, and anything inherently theirs. I am also have to be able to evaluate my daughter's boyfriend by that means.
Then my son also have to visit to his girlfriend's parents and being screened like that too.
If the relationship continue, we, the parents, may have visit each other house to know each other, so each know who is who really they are.
By means of good men and women above, is that we evaluate other not based on what they currently be. But based on what inherently they are.
In case of my boy's girlfriend, I can not see much as I am not a women. But in case of my daughter's boyfriend, I have a standard of what boy's trait is good for my daughter. It was not too complicated. I should find some quality of myself on him (that way, we both have some similar basic principles ; the principles which I grow my daughter with), and he should be better than me when I was at his age (that way, my daughter will get better man that her dad).

@thrrax Of course. It is a business. Else, we won't deal with them. The marriage is much much harder than a regular business because the term is until death and should not terminated on its way, and there is only one party allowed to deal at one time.
That is why, some men in the past says that to get married is the toughest decision they make in their entire lives. Unlike Christianity, there is even some religion that allowed marriage based on contract term (like 5 years, 10 years, etc), understandably because it was tough.
It was tough not only because the term, but also, like a regular business, it should bring a value to both party, while the other party is an independent person that have their own mind and emotion. Thus, unlike in the regular business which is based on benefit, marriage should be based on the vision of the two. Hence come the term "two become one", which is two mind, two soul, become one entity.
But surprisingly, marriage in the west today is a joke for a reason that is covered by this channel and similar. If you want to get married, go overseas and find a woman who match your vision about marriage.

@JRRob3wn It was brotherhood, not women, that makes men progress. Julius Caesar with Antony and Brutus, Jesus and the12 Apostles, Muhammad and the 4 companion, and in modern times like Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger, or Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, all that great man build their history around another great man.
One annoying things is that not about todays young men not dating with women. It is okay to not dating. Very okay. But todays young men does not band together like they used to be, resulting that todays men not learning much about men's world. Men learn from another men like a hunter learn from another hunter. That's why we are on this channel, to learn about men's world from another men.
Learning about the life of those great men, we'll found that women takes minimal part of their history. It doesn't mean women is not important. But they act domestically as a homemaker while men goes externally. Men build the house, but even in Islam their prophet Muhammad said that women is the ruler of their home. A home maker is a simple definition of "traditional women". Whatever kind of men from the ancient era to the modern world, the expectation for women is always the same; a home maker.
