One of the things that surprises me the most is the fact that there are so many people out there that cannot get a joke.

@cw442 So thunderf00t has detailed knowledge of engineering and auto industry? He is a classical academic type that works in a funded environment that is not as smart as he thinks. Ironically what he is doing is exactly what the media does. When you have an expert level knowledge in particular areas you just start to understand that they do not know what they are talking about. But for everything else they sound like they know what they are talking about. Having knowledge of a fundamental area of science does not mean that it can be applied across the whole of engineering. Until Thunderf00t can present his own engineering for scrutiny he is just an armchair coach.

Musk does a lot of interviews and out of the thousands of hours of footage 30 seconds could be obtained that can give any sort of impression.
3
You do not like him so just move on he does not care about you and neither do other people really. Your viewpoints are your own.
3
So what is your view on Tesla producing about $20 billion a year in revenue.
2
@ericgulseth74 He has debunked nothing when it comes to Musk. He may have genuine criticism but that is not debunking.
2
@Skylancer727 Every major corporation has lawsuits and power struggles all the time. Look at what happened to Bill Gates.
2
@HostileTakeover2 Tesla are the world leader in visual pattern ai and their ai mapping is years ahead of anybody else. Tesla has the most powerful supercomputers for ai research and their ai architecture is years ahead of anybody else. And they are constantly striving to build new architecture.
2
People will also oppose when somebody makes money. Let me guess you claim to be neutral.
2
Tesla are a genuine ai company and a leader in visual pattern recognition systems. What is idiot is that people do not seem to realize that even when it is presented to them.
2
Thunderfoot is so ignorant on the topic that he really should keep it zipped up.
2
That robot in stage is a research robot not the actual product they are attempting to develop. They built that in less than 6 months.
2
Imagine living on a life of government grants and calling yourself a scientist. Thinking that your viewpoint somehow means something when talking about one of the worlds most success innovators.
1
@testacals As an investor I would not invest in Tesla as they do not meet my minimum threshold but to say they are an inflated stock is just speculation.
1
@anujmchitale Tesla for the last 4 years have been creating a cash flow and their current cash on hand is $21 billion. Tesla Net income was $5.5 billion for 2021.
1
@anujmchitale It is called free cash flow derived from revenue. Tesla revenue in 2021 was $53 billion. Which is more than 50% above the previous year which corresponds with their free cash flow. Tesla has a profit margin of 15% and an established business that has built their brand and assets like Coca Cola has a profit margin of 24%. Volkswagen profit margin is 6%. I am not suggesting that Tesla is a great investment just that people are being stupid in regards to this.
1
@anujmchitale Sorry but none of that has anything to do with Tesla current financial and is just really about their popularity. They are two different issues.
1
Great men always have these types of detractors that actually cannot build anything them self. They always look for gaps in something to attack. But as always they will be forgotten by history and the odd person will be saying "do you remember that guy that used to say this or that but I somehow cannot remember his name and it was something funny like LightFOOt".
1
@maifantasia3650 I cannot remember the name but I think it is LightF00tie or something like that. You think it is Thunderf00t?
1
@NareshSinghOctagon And several million cars his company has produced. Will Tesla sell 2 million a year by 2023?
1
Nope. Out of the many things he has stated this is one of the few that actually is tied into the current Tesla ai research approach. The hyperloop is not yet finished and is only really to demonstrate the idea rather than him building such transport with Tesla.
1
SO you do not think the research that tesla is involved in is real? They have already built and operate one of the world's most advanced pattern recognition vision systems. Their new approach is to operate multi dimensional video analysis systems.
1
When Musk talks about ai dangers he is not talking about very specific ai tools such as his bot or automation systems in factories or even self driving cars. It is what comes after that he is talking about. First of all do we want everything to be networked and does it look like somebody is working on an ai system that is extremely powerful and adapt at manipulation.
1
The cars do not explode they get into accidents like other cars. There are plenty of leading manufacturers with the same issues.
1
@Tommmmmmmmmmmm Difference is Musk is intelligent and has a company that produces 1 million cars a year and also has a aerospace company that builds its own systems from the ground up. And many can actually understand what Musk is talking about even though he will get predictions wrong from time to time. Musk is clearly shy in many ways and struggles in public speaking.
1
@dukenukem5768 His talks make perfect sense to those with the engineering and science background to understand them. He does get things wrong and has admitted to that which is rare for people in public life to say that. But he is correct more of the time than he is wrong.
1
@Thunderf00t Look you are a typical academic that thinks you can apply your own limited expertise to everything. You are probably under the impression that you could form the perfect government and the perfect economy.
1
@ice3753 Did must drop out of college?
1
Thunderfoot is so full of crap.
1
Did Jordan Belfort build a company that has $20 billion a year in revenue and produces a million cars a year. Tesla has $20 billion cash on hand due to selling products. So can you explain the comparison?
1
Elon is operating at a level that the likes of ThunderF00t would never understand. Even if Elon was to explicitly spell out his vision Thunderf00t would not understand it.
1
Until you can build a company producing 20 billion a year in revenue with billions put into research you cannot call it vaporware.
1
Those robots are tool specific and not the ai danger that he is talking about. I fully expect the likes of Thunderf00t not to understand that.
1
Nothing to do with fanboys and such stupid insults. Tesla are a real world ai company that have real ai infrastructure and a leader in ai research.
1
Thank goodness you are only thinking and not actually doing things in the world.
1
Tesla have ai products on the market and there are millions of them out there. Holmes did not actually have anything on the market. Tesla already have a cash generation and have lowered their debts through cash all down to their sales. Again that does not prove that the business will succeed in the long run.
1
You do understand Boston does not have an actual robot.
1
So you do not think a guy that has built a billion dollar car company, a billion dollar aerospace company and has that many projects on the go is not intelligent. You only need to listen to Musk for a few minutes to realize that he is far beyond a pen pushing lab tech with a youtube channel.
1
@1369Stiles Tesla has paid back all its government loans. Tesla has about $20 billion cash on hand, 3 billion free cash flow and produces about 1 million vehicles per year. How on earth could any of that piss you off nobody 10 years ago thought Tesla would be in this position.
1
If ThunderF00t guesses things he will get some of them right at some point. Stand at a bus stop and guess enough times and he will predict that a bus comes. Musk himself has stated that he is not always right and can get things wrong but does that therefore mean that he is full of crap or a fraud? Tesla now sells 1 million cars per year and his space X business is also winning contracts and if his Starlink works he will become the world's first trillionaire. People like Musk, Jobs, Gates, Gordon Moore and Henry Ford can get things wrong but when they get them right they tend to be spectacular.
1
He may do so as he has billions of dollars now to invest into things.
1
@galaxyboots They will only be presenting a prototype next year not a fully finished robot. He never mentioned time tables but most of you have already built that up in your head. Tesla are already a world leader in ai research but fully expected the people commenting and Thunderf00t not to know that.
1
Boston Dynamic does not have a robot so I guess your comment does not make sense.
1
I doubt Thunderfoot understands robots.
1
Yeah 20 billion a year in Tesla revenue with billions in research is hype. You Go go internet fanboy you go.
1
@phillipharrison886 They are not vapourware because the projects are not finished as of yet. You need to think before you throwing around terms. If you want to criticized for not yet being complete do that. Covid has put a spanner in the works of Tesla output so that means projects like the ones you mentioned are running behind as the resources have been moved to car production. Vapourware means something does not exist at all. You are a Thunderfoot fanboy so just admit it.
1
@compuholic82 The point of machine learning in ai is not to have labels so that the ai can reference the object. The real point of a label is to create a node and standard that can be weighted in a fuzzy model that is not exactly precise. They are using the labels to form abstraction not to have exact precision. Humans do that at a conscious level but also had a structural level within the brain. We are extremely early into these points sort of at a medieval machine engine point.
1
Boston Dynamics produces human controlled toys they are not self sustained robotics systems. Boston Dynamics is a research company but they are not selling products.
1
Boston Dynamics are developing human controlled robotic systems. Elon with his approach is not intending to build something that operates like that. He wants an antonymous system but a limited system. He is not talking about a system that will be carrying out complex surgeries.
1
SpaceX and Tesla are not vaporware and his bot is just an extension of their already established ai systems. Maybe they now have confidence in their ai approach that they think they can apply it to bots.
