Thing is, that particular attitude about a bit of hanky-panky is what had made me think the convenient leak of the Clinton/Lewinsky affair was actually leaked by Democrat operatives, just to take the heat off of him for his BIG, traitorous crimes, and instead direct everyone's attention to something they'd be willing to forgive him for.

I think the aviator sunglasses are teleprompters.
2
But then how do you prevent power from drifting even further to non-elected bureaucracies? We actually do have term limits already. It's called elections. It just requires people to STOP being cowards and vote the bastards out.
2
Actually, I never had a problem finding diaper changing tables in the men's bathroom (unless it was some place that didn't have tjem in either). Sometimes it's dad that does the diaper duty even in hetero couples.
2
It's quite simple: the babbling and stumbling Biden is the real Joe Biden. The coherent and stable Biden is the impersonator.
2
yes, we need to kick NYC out of the state. Might have to hand Buffalo over to Canada as well, we'd have to see.
2
"Star Wars", "Star Trek", and "Dr. Who". All great franchises that have been destroyed. Heck, I'm worried now that "Babylon 5" is being rebooted. Even if J. Michael Straczinsky is producing it, I can't see Holly-woke allowing anything as daring and subversive as the original B5. (a proud member of The Fandom Menace)
2
@wheelie642 I think term limits would move more power towards non-elected "civil servants". All the bureaucrats who have jobs for life will be dictating policy, and we won't have any recourse to remove them.
2
More like 50 years ago.
2
Time for a new slogan, harkening back to the radical 1960's: "Free the January 6!"
2
@davidborrink137 Well, that's more than I could say.
2
But wouldn't "X" imply an X-chromosome? It still could identify gender. They should be using that symbol Prince was using when he was having legal disputes with his record label. Maybe we ALL should start choosing out OWN gender character; I'll choose 愛 ... And if they complain, accuse them of being sexist.
2
For what he's done in his past, I'm not making fun of him. To make fun of someone you have to have at least a little respect for them.
2
Put an "O", and you can pretend it's a game of TicTacToe.
2
There's plenty of things I disagree with the conservatives on, but I can still work with them. The far-left are just a bunch of STONED NUTCASES.
2
Sounds like a song... "Welcome to the HellHole California".
2
By the time the NES came out I was already too old for it. My computer gaming was more like "Schmoo" on a DEC PDP-11/20 (using an ASR-33 for the terminal). Old doesn't even enter into it.
2
With this level if stupidity and cluelessness on our college campuses, it spells doom for the technological, economic and legal future of our country. Looks like the far-leftist progressives are well on their way to becoming the "Eloi". So we "Morlocks" will just wait in our caves for the right moment to feed... (yes, I know HG Wells was a socialist, but the analogy still fits)

11 AM Wednesday? What, you're expecting the ISP's installer to show up on time and actually get the job done right the first time? Not around here, that's for sure.
1
So in the end, a "Public Safety" agency will become exactly the same thing as a police force. It will have to take on the same tasks.
1
No, the term isn't that you are a Star Wars fan, rather that you WERE a Star Wars fan. The same thing happened for us Doctor Who fans. Not only was it turned into a woke crap-fest, but they hired an "actor" (and I use that term very loosely) who not only knew nothing about the series, but was PROUD of that fact. At least when Matt Smith came in (and was originally unfamiliar with the show) he went through and watched shows from all the prior Doctors to learn their traits. The original Doctor Who and Star Trek writers might have occasional presented social and political messages, but the understood that the STORY comes first, and the message needs to be subtle. So they want to see stories with strong women? Perhaps they should watch "The Avengers" (the British spy-fi series) with Emma Peel. As a young child in the 60's I thought she was ever so cool. There's been plenty of anime in the 80's & 90's with strong female characters. But the woke don't want to create, they only want to destroy.
1
Well no, "Dave" will be taking Joe's place in the debates.
1
I'm a Neo-Taoist, have ADD, haven't even gotten close to finish writing my own sci-fi series, have never directed a movie at all, and identify as "none of the above", whatever happens to be above. Can I get $50 Mil to direct a Star Wars movie too?
1
Stern was ever funny? I must have missed that three-minutes.
1
That's OK, I'll cheer in your place.
1
China???? Oh, you mean **West Taiwan**!!! <g>
1
And to think people used to worry about Dan Quayle becoming president...
1
Nothing wron with being Libertarian. Certainly a more reliable party than the Demopublicans or Republicrats.
1
Yeah, the Republicrats aren't much different from the Demopublicans. As Larry Sharpe says, "Democrats are the party of BAD ideas, Republicans are the party of NO ideas."
1
@markgreen4612 Yes, that is a BIG reason for me rejecting DeSantis now. 14 weeks was a reasonable and fair number. 6 weeks is completely ridiculous; it's possible to not even know you're pregnant at 6 weeks. The problem is the Republicans have their own brand of evil, just as the Democrats have theirs. I will be voting Libertarian in the next Presidential election (we already have some good people running). Of course, Ass-Grabber Cuomo shoved through legislation taking away the right of NY voters to have an actual choice of candidates, and Hochul is just as willing as Cuomo to stab New Yorkers in the back every chance she can.
1
there are probably lots of them. It's just that the extremists took over the party quite some time ago. Which means the extremist wing of the Republican party starts taking over there. Makes me glad to be Libertarian.
1
@cliffoilarjr2682 Nope, as much as I find myself greatly aligned with the Republicans, I am also Pro-Choice, so I cannot vote Republican. But not a problem, as I can vote Libertarian as always.
1
Ha, that would be like Bill Clinton being impeached for his illegal dealings with the CCP, corrupt business dealings, and the multitude of other crimes instead of his behavior as a sex addict. I have thought some of these sexual allegations get brought up by their own handlers to distract the public from their major crimes.
1
The people Kyle Rittenhouse might have been white, but they *identified* as "black". So obviously it would be "r@cist then.
1
"...Women have every right to choose who and when they sleep with someone…" They absolutely have the right, but not always the option. And sometimes immaturity or changing circumstances override that. The problem is the Democrats have a hostile, irresponsible world view, while the Republicans have a fanciful and unrealistic one.
1
Yeah, so will I when my daughter graduates high school. And I think my younger half-brother may be 65 when his son graduates high school.
1
He's not wrong though. While there is good reason for that fear-mongering (many of those fears being true) and the "Left" having gone completely over-the-top insane with it, doesn't mean the "right" doesn't bear some responsibility as well.
1
NPCs? Hey, some of my best friends are NPCs...
1
They're probably afraid to scrutinize Hunter's "art" too closely; it would be like listening to Vogon Poetry.
1
But he probably left now just so he could come back later. Don't trust him any further than I could throw that bridge he named after his jackass father (which we want to see named back to the Tappan Zee, btw).
1
Well, depends on the language you use. I had thought "Apple" was a silly name, until I was watching an anime with a major character named "Ringo" [1], then found that "Ringo" is Japanese for "Apple" (apples were a recurring motif in the storyline). [1] "Mawaru Penguindrum" if you must know.
1
When you point out that "Rome fell...", I'm wondering if that's the point we're at now. Rome had a democratic system, but eventually it devolved into emperors and a small group at the top dictating how the country would run. Failed incursions into foreign territories, flashy shows to cover up the corruption a the top, over-extendinf themselves, etc. All so much like what we're seeing here.
1
Regarding your question on Kamala Harris drastically changing her opinion of Joe Biden between the debates and becoming the VP pick; it's like the old Culture Club song, "Kamala Chameleon".
1
Bill Gates wants everyone to get the vaccine because it contains an element that compels people to use MSWindows and MSAwful... oh excuse me, MSOffice. It will make you hear Billy G's voice whispering in your ear "Linux baaad... LibreOffice baaad... use Microsoft's crap software..."
1
Sorry, but not everybody supported the so-called "Patriot" Act. Even then I immediately recognized it as government overreach. Then again, at that time I had already been suspicious of the government for 20 years or more.
1
I think Jon just wanted to "tell it to The Marines"...
1
Back in the 1980's we were so concerned that Reagan and the Republicans were going to turn the country into a bunch of obedient drones, would be working at taking away our rights, forcing us into unquestioning obedience and fealty to the central government. Now I realize we were off by 40 years and the wrong political party. Unfortunately many of those other friends haven't figured that out. At the beginning of Covid, it was intended to be more like our mobilization in WWII. We were all banding together, working as a unified force to beat an enemy. But that became corrupted all too soon, didn't it?
1
Well, I'm a Libertarian, so you can guess where I stand.
1
@iowabassman4701 Not at all. You have the freedom to make your own choices, but that is balanced by the belief that you take responsibility for your actions. You don't get to turn around and say "oh, it wasn't my fault". You don't get to force your choices on other people. And you don't get to have your rights trample over the rights of other people. We're all adults, rather than the children that big government tries to make everyone.
1
I wouldn't be so sure that government protocol of spending your entire budget for a year in order to keep the same budget the next year is entirely limited to government. You haven't been at IBM, have you? But then again, we all know how well IBM is run, don't we.
