Well, that answered absolutely nothing.

French speaking people were present in Louisiana long before it was a territory of the US, much less a state.
33
French could have the potential to be the second or third most spoken language in the world, but Chinese will, for the foreseeable future, remain number one.
32
French has been present in Louisiana long before it became a territory of the US, never mind a state.

0:34 -- Uh, no, Kamala Harris is not the first woman VP candidate on a major party's ticket. Do the names Geraldine Ferraro (Mondale's running mate in 1984) and Sarah Palin (McCain's running mate in 2008) ring any bells?
21
@trespasser121 I know many people who are better than both Trump and his daughter, but that doesn't mean I think they're experts on global economics.
13
What I think is going to end up happening with both student loans and other government financial aid is that the offer of such assistance will be dependent upon what major the student pursues. In other words, a student who pursues a nursing or engineering degree would be more likely to be offered financial aid than a student who wants to major in Art History.
13
How does a party with 33 seats in a 350 seat Congress of Deputies come out as the "winner"?
11
@marseillais2687 The native population who were living there before the French arrived might disagree with you, but French was the first European language spoken in that area.
11
It always makes my blood boil to see homeless parents dragging their kids along for the ride, so to speak. There's no reason why children should be sleeping in cars. Either find a friend or family member who can put up the kids until the parents can get back on their feet or, worse case scenario, put the children into foster care.
11
Maybe the people in that area aren't stupid enough to go outside in the middle of the night and get conked in the head by hailstones.
10
The people featured in this video are all Americans, not French citizens.
9
I agree that the ignorant and racist comments on this video are very inappropriate.
7
Why would anyone care what a mythologized person thinks?
7
@TrustThePlan Never say never, of course, but Barbados has been independent since 1966. If it was going to go down the same path as Haiti, it probably would've already done so.
6
If that was true, it doesn't change the fact that many women find him attractive.
6
Someone wearing a hijab is not "all covered up". Her face is still showing.
5
The woman who said pads should be free because having a period is something that can't be helped seems to be forgetting that we also have to have food, toilet paper, bathing products, etc... . It's not feasible that everything we need for basic survival and hygiene should be provided at no charge. However, I do agree that feminine hygiene products (pads, tampons, etc...) shouldn't be taxed.
5
@JorgeRamos-ix1jm Or better yet, Ivanka should just stay away from events like the G20.
5
Somehow I don't think the lack of an absent monarch is going to radically change this country.
4
It being an overcast day makes the deserted streets look even more eerie.
4
How does losing seats and the chance to be part of the government make Vox the "winner"?
4
I guess the Republicans are in a hurry to see President Kamala Harris.
3
There's no excuse for making ignorant and racist comments.
3
Why now and not before the country declared itself a republic?
3
@lucyhill7965 I don't know what the vaccination rates are for Denmark, Norway, and Finland, but if they are anywhere close to Sweden's 96% vaccination rate, how can you say that Scandinavia is "safe from vaccination"?
3
If anti-abortion advocates are letting the public know which doctors provide abortions, could they be cited for "advertising"?
3
If there's going to be a ban on anyone entering the US who's traveled to Iran in the previous 14 days, why not have a similar ban on people who traveled to South Korea and Italy as well?
3
I haven't been following this story that closely, so I probably missed it, but if the captain knew Italy wasn't going to welcome her ship, why didn't she try to go somewhere else?
3
Then why didn't the Social Democrats win enough seats to govern alone?
3
So you borrowed someone's computer or phone to post that comment?
3
That would go over well during the Christmas shopping season. 🤨
3
@Israel Peralta Is Macron's wife officially employed as an "adviser" to him?
3
There's another reason why May doesn't want Northern Ireland to stay within the customs union, although I haven't heard anyone mention it yet: Scotland would want the same deal since a majority voted to remain. If that happened, it'd just be a matter of time before both places severed all ties with the UK.
2
The video showed both citizens who lived in foreign countries and those who lived in the overseas territories voting.
2
Mythologized beings have no power over anything except in the imagination of those who think they're real.
2
There have been years in which Time has picked a thing or concept as the "Person" of the Year (the personal computer in 1982 and the Earth in 1988), so I had been thinking that the coronavirus should have been chosen since it had the most impact on the world this year. Failing that, it should have been health care workers as a group.
2
In that hypothetical situation in which the French monarchy is restored, would the monarch necessarily have to be the eldest living direct (or closest to direct) descendant of the last monarch? If I'm remembering correctly, there have been situations in European history where someone who wasn't a direct heir to a particular throne was invited by a country's government to become its monarch.
2
@hcwcars1 So Trump gets a smiley face sticker for that irrelevant accomplishment?
2
Only if he wants to work in certain government positions as far as I understand the bill.
2
Uh, I don't think Le Pen supporters consider themselves left leaning.
2
Be careful what you wish for. The next thing being banned may be something you like.
2
Lawn Mower Then you might have mixed feelings about Sweden. Their vaccination program is voluntary, but the vast majority of children are vaccinated.
2
@rosasandoval5011 Are you implying that I'm not a US citizen? If so, that's not a good idea in any way, shape, or form.
2
No, Prime Minister, this is all on you. You had two and a half years to get this done. It reminds me of a student putting off studying, then scrambling to read the entire textbook on the school bus the morning of the test.
2
Why would Lesotho's foreign minister be embarrassed at Tr--p's remarks? It's not his fault that we have a president who can't find the US on a map, never mind any African countries.
2
At least Sarah Palin can claim to have some governing experience, which is more than I can say for Ivanka or her father.
2
Serge Pamphile "... unsafe and cheap [C]hinese goods." Including the device you used to watch this video?
2
So what's going to keep these vigilantes from becoming gangs themselves?
2
More like something is rotten in the state of Trump's brain.
