  5. But you can't hold conversations in programming languages. And, depending on where you live, knowing a second language can either be a deal breaker in being offered a job or be a requirement. When I took a cruise to Aruba a couple of years ago, an ice cream shop had a "Help Wanted" sign in the window. The sign said candidates for the job must know English, Papiamento, Dutch, and Spanish.

The only way I can describe it is to say that if there was a machine that could scan a book and spit out a live human version of one of the characters, it would spit out Jeremy Brett after scanning the Sherlock Holmes stories.

  16. Here in Florida, we're sort of heading in the right direction. The state House and Senate recently passed a bill putting us on DST all year. I believe the Governor had signed it or will be signing it shortly. The reason I say "sort of heading in the right direction" is instead of year round DST, it should be year round standard time, in my opinion. What can I say, I'm old fashioned. 😀

  26. +Robert Machulla I definitely agree with you about Matt Smith. He portrayed the "old man in a young man's body" vibe really well. It shone especially when he was interacting with River, Sarah Jane, and Jo. In real life, the actresses were old enough to be Matt's mothers, but they seemed to be the "young" ones in every scene the Eleventh Doctor had with them.

  29. I'm an American with a weird hobby of watching / listening to English language coverage of other countries' elections / referendums. I remember the night of the 1995 separation referendum when Premier Jacques Parizeau made his remarks about the referendum being defeated by "money and the ethnic vote". I knew that remark was going to come back and bite him on the backside.

  30. Frasier and Harley Quinn should've been higher. In Frasier's case, how many minor characters get their own show that lasts just as long as the parent show and receive as many, if not more, accolades? In Harley's case, she was created specifically for the animated series, but was so impressive, DC put her into the comics. And now she's got a movie as well.

  44. +Fanboy Killer That's why it never made sense to me why quite a few of the insurance companies here in the US would (up until Obamacare was passed) refused to pay for birth control pills. I've never seen any statistics to back this up, but I would imagine that keeping a woman on birth control during her child bearing years would cost the insurance company less money in the long run than paying for pregnancies and the actual children up until adulthood (which according to Obamacare, is now 26 years old). I'll get off the soapbox now. 🙂

Martin Guzman   I'm sorry you misunderstood my post.  I wasn't stating that the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus was fiction.  Just that any movie featuring Him is because it will inevitably end up showing Him or the people around Him say and do things that aren't directly mentioned in the Bible.  Plausible dialogue and actions, yes, but still fictional. Hope that cleared things up for you.   : )

How about an ad encouraging a drunk person to get behind the wheel of his/her vehicle? No? Why not? Because stalking and drunk driving are illegal and so was what the mother in the 84 Lumber ad was doing.
