  1. It is a muzzle brake, directly carried over from the PP343. I suspect it isn't as efficient with 9x19mm as it is with 7.62x25mm Tokarev, although it would be close, based on the pressures.of the rounds.. In the PPS43, it actually works, and I suspect it would still work adequately in 9mm.

  2. The PPSh41 isn't a copy of the Suomi (although they did pretty much copy the drum), and the PPS43 isn't a simplified copy of the PPSh.

  3. ​ @RockSolitude The Sten is noticeably more complicated than the PPS-43 or this M44. Remember, the Sten is select fire and (except for the failed MkIII pattern) has a readily removable barrel and a rotating magazine well. And the Sten uses a poor clone of the obsolescent Bergmann MP28 magazine (being effectively a simplified copy of the MP28), rather than the quite excellent (yet still just as simple) PPS43 magazine (or the Carl Gustav magazine the M44 actually used the most).
