  1. Makes sense to delete the bayonet long when you consider who they're building the gun for. PVT Snuffiego absolutely is going to snap a bayonet on there if the lug is present and at all accessible. At which point, he's going to swing it around, and everyone will laugh until the bayonet comes flying off (because, without the forward attachment of the muzzle ring, it isn't actually fixed) and someone loses an eye.
