This is not a fair, open, honest and competitive election. Carrie Lam knows it. She lied anyway.
1
Chinese government doesn't love the Australian government.
1
@JackSmith-uy9cf if the Australian government is so bad, why not move to China?
1
Just because United States unjustly invaded Iraq doesn't give Putin the okay to invade Ukraine. Putin must be arrested. It is perfectly okay to investigate George Bush.
1
It was Australia's fault. They should have supplied more coal to China.
1
China MUST CONDEMN the Hamas attack of Isreal. China always says territory integrity is so important and never fails to emphasize that Taiwan is part of China.
1
@joshz9201 The bill should be altogether scrapped LONG AGO. Before the situation went out of control.
1
Until Beijing starting to recognize Taiwan's freedoms and democracy, peacefully reunification is impossible. The ball is solely on Beijing's court.
1
China is not only militarized the area, they are claiming it on its own and bullying neighboring countries. As a Chinese, I feel shameful about this.
1
@Hmyt-yucca Let's get real. There were 2 million people participated. How much are the NGO going to pay them. $2000 a person? Seriously? For $2000 you endured the 35C sun and walk for hours and face the tear gas and rubber bullets? Would you do it? Get real!
1
@Hmyt-yucca 3 people have committed suicide to protest the government. How much did the "NGO" pay them? Get serious please.
1
If Mongolia can have democracy, if Taiwan can have democracy, then China should have democracy
1
@sarahlee9979 I think he meant you.
1
Well, many paper got open funding from CCP and there's nothing wrong with it, right?
1
Can't Australia supply more coal to China? Maybe China should say sorry.
1
@mynahbird20000 the security and sovereign of a country is undermined by a banner. It must be Winnie the Pooh.
1
@mynahbird20000 I am Chinese, my last name is not Bird. Why should I move to England? Many hk people do move there as you know.
1
@mynahbird20000 i respect your love from England. But England is not my motherland. Unlike CY Leung and Carrie Lam, my family is not British, I am not as patriotic to Great Britain as they do.
1
Everyone knows that China is supporting Russia's war.
1
What happened in Yuen Long completely eroded the trust to the police.
1
Hong Kong Police do that a lot of times
1
Grateful to these workers.
1
Only 2 percent of Taiwanese people want reunification with China,
1
If Xi wants peaceful coexist, why did Chinese state run media use Twitter to broadcast to other countries? China doesn't allow others countries to establish within its borders.
1
This election is entirely controlled by Beijing. There's no democracy, of course There's no foreign interference.
1
Sanctions work. That's why China stopped importing Australia coal, lobsters and wine.
1
@Angela Fuego Isn't the black riot caused by Carrie Lam?
1
@kc L considering how many Hong Kong people have left (it is the greatest exodus for Hong Kong people since WW2), the price of freedoms clearly worth it.
1
@rabbitazteca23 Agree with you. USA has a lot of problems.
1
@KaguraBachipeak Ukraine has never been a member of nato. Get your fact straight.
1
So, the internment camps do exist. Why?
1
The world will be more peaceful if China is willing to stop the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
1
Chinese citizens want peace, not war. Only CPC is willing to attack Taiwanese people.
1
As long as China doesn't recognize the freedoms and democracy that Taiwanese people are entitled to, there's no hope for peaceful reunification. The ball is firmly on China's court.
1
What about protesting the ruling party? Is it a crime?
1
@supremewhip 1/5 is a lot. Have you thought about moving to Hong Kong? For the record, English is the official language there, and many people do speak English.
1
@animalmother5287 For the record, I am a Canadian dentist. The Canadian government provides free dental treatment to low income seniors (starting in May 2024) and I see lots of seniors.
1
@makuohua3071 Christ was crucified for the sins of you and I. Don't understand what it had to do with freedom and democracy. What are you smoking?
1
@Carbuncle0168 The people of Hong Kong, over the last 25 years, tried to change the policy to allow more democratic elections (as promised under the Basic Law). What did the Chinese government do? Jail the democratic leaders. National Security laws. Do you know why only 2 percent of the Taiwanese population support one country 2 systems?
1
@Carbuncle0168 Did Beijing keep their promises (under Basic Law)and change policy to give Hong Kong democratic elections?
1
@biggpicture2930 Many countries have restrictions on spending. Chinese elections, just like North Korean, don't allow opposition parties.
1
@biggpicture2930 You mean North Korean elections? Certainly no big money there.
1
@donparky1812 You said democracy is doing what people want. On June 16th 2019, 2 million Hong Kong people (out of the population of 7 million) peacefully went on the street to demand freedoms and democracy. This is by all standards a strong message from the Hong Kong people showing what they want. Did Beijing change policy?
1
@biggpicture2930 Norway, Great Britain, Canada
1
@biggpicture2930 Now my turn to ask you a question. Since you said China and Hong Kong are democratic, please name a democratic country where only one party is legal?
1
@biggpicture2930 It is perfectly fine to have limitations on election spending. Is mainland China democratic, is Hong Kong democratic, can the CCP accept democracy in Taiwan under one country 2 systems? You know the answer.
1
@biggpicture2930 Have these countries considered communism or one party rule? None of them. Do you know why?
1
@yaucharles91 I am not anti China. I love China. My point is the only hope for a future UNIFIED China to work and prosper, is for the ruling party (CCP) to accept democracy and freedoms in PARTS of China. For the record, some parts of China (Taiwan and smaller islands) currently enjoy democracy and freedoms. Just like Hong Kong was promised democracy and freedoms under the basic law.
1
@biggpicture2930 I have no idea why you bring up India. Are you Indian?
1
I That's exactly the point. The medical school standards are variable.
