  3. Problem with mixing veterans with newbis in such an extrem scenario is, that the veterans will not likely make the newbies stronger, but the newbies drag the veterans down. A chain is as tough as its weakest link, as it is said. A single mistake of a single soldiers can easily have devastating consequences for the whole group. Not against mix up, but you can't send them into hell. You need to put them in action behind the frontline, so they got time to grow and learn. There is no time for that in Bakhmut and alike.

It's a MASSIVE difference if you got a solidly working army and fill certain gaps with volunteers - or to be with nothing left but newbies you force or lure to go there as your main fighting force with maybe some veterans here and there. You also can't just train new people in a few weeks to forge a working, modern army out of them, even if you could give them the equipment (what they can't in the needed numbers, Zelensky's list is a joke and simply wants NATO to join in with pretty much all available land forces regarding equiment). Modern warfare is horrendous for humans. You can near to never see the enemy, even when it comes to the shorter range, 'direct contact' combat zone with rifles, not even talking about all the warfare around artillery, rockets, drones and so on. The hopeless insanity was clear, when the very first thing Zelensky ordered was, that just everyone should put up a rifle and make molotov cocktails. What an insane order, giving flashbacks to Hitler's "Volkssturm" in the last months of his regime. Started also with the order to just force everyone male from 16-60 who wasn't fighting yet, into the Wehrmacht. And in the end it's not the incompetence and so on that is devastating. Chaos, friendly fire (which is even still a danger in professional armies) and of course the fact, that you won't exactly get the smartest and most holding back people with such orders, will cause much more random damage and death than 'good', even for the planed cause. Hitler's Volkssturm for exampl was a disaster. Training and equipment was awful, they were barely more than cannonfodder, but instead committed various atrocities and warcrimes, because especially the most fanatic of course fought till the very end and all led by the SS, shooting the 'traitors' who would not follow along. Untrained, underequipped (still deadly armed) quasi civilians, driven by propaganda and fear - what could go wrong.

  9. It's a war with over a million soldiers and thousands of military vehicles. The idea that you could play this 500000:0 is simply absurd. They take such footage and show it on the internet as big success, while at the same time they lose 10 times as much what they don't show.

  10. They also got the problem, that they destroy their own bridges and of course this makes its pretty hard to withdraw with heavy equipment like a self-propelled howitzer. The only 'news' I saw about these french things were Ukraine shooting at civil sectors and hospitals with it - likely because those can't fire back, but in the end, this does not save them. NATO is used to fight enemies which can't fight back and so all those "wonderweapons" are just about that: they are good for slaughtering defenseless victims.

  11. I really would like to know, what they tell these guys or do to them, that they don't just surrender. This is not like SU vs Nazi army, where it was clear, that the Nazis were there to commit a complete genocide. This whole war is mainly about NATO interests for Russian (and Ukrainian) resources and you could maybe argue, that the soldiers could think about keeping Ukraine as it was. But how stupid is that idea? They do not just fight the Russian army. Those eight years they fought all those Ukrainians and that's still the case. Russia is the big brother who came to help and is life saving important of course, but overall it should still be clear, that a big majority of the people in East Ukraina DON'T WANT TO be part of Ukraine anymore, which had tried to murder or deport them for the last eight years. What exactly are these people dying for?

  13. That's the point: there is no gunfire. Those movemenst are made in areas which are not around some bunkers with machine guns or whatever, but drone and artillery coverage, where speed and spread runs surpreme.

  19. Attack on the airfield also used terror/warcrime tacticts. It's breaking the Guineva Concentions to a) use civilian vehicles for such attacks and b) abuse (on top of that unknowing) civilians for that. The humiliation is on the side of the terror regime, which break all rules of law, what will cost them dearly and reached borderline nothing with it. Russia does not really care go lose some old soviet time air-trucks. It's way more pissed about HOW this attacked happened, that treaties were abused for that and of course a hell lot about that train attack, yes.

Heard stories from WW2 veterans from the insanities of the war, for example an injured officer, who got a bulled in the head, it didn't kill him, yet, but he couldn't move anymore and instead yelled all the time, half insane and in pain. Another story from a soldier was, how the were shot by the Russians and a comrade close to him just 'exploded' and vanished, hit by an anti air cannon used against infantery. He was obviously one of the survivors and they managed to kill the people at that anti air cannon: it had been women. And yes, that's not a 'girl power' story, that's the story of people fighting for their existence and millions dying for it. It's not girl power, it's insanity. War is insanity.

IMO - and overall without knowledge of details it will always be a guessing game, even moer because the core point of tactic and strategy is to not be easily to see through (which means, that the Russians likely have several layers of how the can act and react) - Russia used those up to 500.000 addtionals forces to make a fortress out of the Donbass and southern region and from there takes its time to grind down anything in front of it. It's the most obvious thing to see and because it looks so small and little makes certain people guess, that Russia just can't do more. Of course the majority of power if still just resting there and the worst thing you could do is to try to storm that fortress. Russia got no reason to risk anything. It could sure push forward, but this would raise the cost in equipment and lives for no additional gain.

If you talk about Kiev, that was an operation to force Kiev concentrating on thei capital, so Russia could secure the whole Donbass and southern region up to the fortified areas. That worked perfectly. Of course it would have been even better (especially for Ukraine) if the coup regime would then just have given up...

  28. There is no humiliation. It was a terror-warcrime tactic (not only abusing civilian vehicles but also unknowing civilian drivers) that only succeeded against airfields which got nothing to do with the conflict. Overall a complete failure, especially with only some old soviet time bombers getting damaged. Russi built hundreds of these and only uses a few dozens, because they overall do not really have much need for these. Those flying trucks are way too old, too big and too slow to be useful in any conflict beside firing cruise missiles and Russia cruise missiles can be fired by pretty much everything, including land units and ships.

  29. When you make a hole in the street part of the bridge, that is easiyl repaired. If you want to put a bridge out of order, you have to do way more than that, at best destroy the pillars, that can't be fixed easily or at least make it collapse. A hole is nothing.

  30. Yes, the idea is just stupid. You can still work with it when it comes to actually claim territory, where you have to go in and then got the problem, that the defender will likely have fortified positions, prepared and all, while you have to take new ground and secure it and so on. But when you just shell the shit out of area, manpower means very little. In contrary: the more manpower you got, the more likely big losses are. There was the interview with an UK mercenary (pro coup regime) and he for example told abou, how not far from them a quite crowded military camp of Ukraine was hit by ToS-1. Yeah, those guys are just dead. He was also there in the beginnning days when the military camps at the western border of Ukraine were wiped out. They were just lucky, nothing else. Other troop buildings were just blown up with everyone inside and of course even whit some of their people, while they were able to flee, still were injured or even killed by debri. He also talked about the brutal corruption (as said, he's pro coup regime), how a whole truck with a hell lot of US weapons and full to the top with ammuntion just got lost. At the front, with control stations every few km, so it's clearly corruption.

  31. @Ryk At start, yes (also it's not Russia alone, Ukraine is fighting Ukraine since 2014, people forget that this all started as civil war, or better as the try to genocide the whole east and south because it would not follow the coup, and Ukraine even got stuck against those people, though with support of NATO they would have been able to finish it when they started the brutal bombarding again in Feb 2022 - but the Russia intervened). Meanwhile so many died for nothing, that you don't really have much actual soldiers left. A lot of freshly send cannonfodder, but those just die even faster and for even less than nothing.

  33. I got no problem at all with female character in such setting and all kind of other stories. The big problem is, that they are often terribly written. The main point about male characters is: their sex plays close to no role at all. They are that person. Female characters are often just that: female. And as if to compensate for that, they tend to be way over the top. Even worse when all male characters are made worse, just dumb, brutal and so on, so that female can shine more. There WERE women fighting, but it wasn't girl power. Just as all male soldiers got nothing to do with 'boy power'. Soldiers are lambs for the slaughter. There is nothing heroic about war. Men are told to die in wars for their women and children. If we would value the lives of men as much as the lives of women, war would simply be almost impossible. When I see war stories with female characters and then people think that is 'girl power', it just disgusts me. That's war propaganda. War stories shouldn't be about glorious victories. There is no glory in no war. Never. And evn heroism is just a nicer word for sacrifice. A sacrifice that shouldn't be needed in the first place.

  38. What is by the way stupid. You may have important positions worth to hold, but in general falling back is always the best decision. That's how you build up your lines in the first place, that your front line CAN fall back, while the lines behind those hammer the attacker. This by the way does not mean, that it must happen at the same time. Warfare is deception. You don't just have one easy tactic and follow it, you mixture it, let the enemy come on purpose for example, make them feel save and victorious, so they get cocky and bring in more, then you destroy all of it in one big attack - just as one example.

Something like this can work in a completely different scenario, for example an actual stalemate with both sides struggeling, in that case a distractiojn like that can have success. But if your side is the only one struggeling while the other has gigantic amounts of reserves, it's simply just suicide.

And they still got more, it's only a partial mobilisation and by the way mainly as support and for security purpose for the new regions. You need many peopel far more for that than ruining Ukraine - the coup regime and its NATO masters is pretty much doing that themselves...

What people don't get, when they take just the numbers, is, that you have to divide it through the numbers of countries and substract a hell lot of base costs and so on from it. None of the NATO countries would nor could just send everything and you have to substract that for every single country. Why do you think NATO is struggeling so much now? Germany military is already crying about those 14(!) tanks, that they have to take those from units they actually need for training and alike.

Russia manveured out of Kharkov and Kharkiv city ON PURPOSE. They weren't defeated there. In contray. They caused massive casualties to the Nazis and that's what warfare is about. Territory doesn't matter, your army does. You got no army left = you automatically lose all territory.

That's why Ukraine is firing blindly and that mainly at civilians, far away from Russian positions. Likely think: yeah, we take cover in civilians and hospitals and schools, so they will, too.

  50. It's easy to just run in, this is mostly empty area. Those line aren't fortified wall or whatever, it's simply a line making clear, that behind it you are in the territory that is dominated by the other sides firepower. So you can just run it, easily. It's just suicidal.
