  2. Excellent points, Lei. The reality is what I’ve heard for Wall Streeters who deeply analyze China is the real debt to GDP is closer to 600% not merely 280% admitted by some in CCP. The dollar reserve in terms of US treasuries has periodically fallen below $700B ranging up to $1Trillion occasional, but often as low as near $600B. People misunderstand and say China is selling US debt to hurt US. No, they are selling US bonds to pay bills for imports. That’s the FX reserve.

  7. Lei, this was an outstanding video and mirrors my experience in Taiwan with the Chinese civilization there. I’ve had connection with Lutheran High School in Shanghai which had existed still until now things are uncertain. CCP leaders sent their kids there many times.

  8. I wouldn’t count on closer ties with Russia! The international shipping insurers cancelled all shipments from or to Russia. This puts Chinese banking and resources at risk.

  10. The problem is high sulphur coal as in China is lower thermal output and produces acid rain destroying buildings, roads and causing health problems. It’s more expense to treat high sulphur coal and make it less polluting. In steel coking operations Australian high thermal coal is more desirable. It’s likely China’s coal distribution is more diverse than just higher sulphur, but that’s to be determined.

  17. This may wake up Taiwan to develop a better military strategy. I believe that there is growing better understanding of Taiwan’s strong position. Japan has developed a better understanding and reinterpretation of their Constitution for the current climate.

  22. After Putin raided Ukraine’s Crimea the Russian language was dropped and Ukraine language became dominate and anti-Russian feeling. Putin’s “savvy” has destroyed business opportunity in the billions and has become seen as completely untrustworthy for business. Trump redefined NATO into more secure business relationships, but Putin has destroyed rule of law for small business too based on our man in Russia reports who is a small business investment banker. Keep in mind China’s debt entangles Russia too through energy partnerships.

However, the debt the load and the fact that the railroad infrastructure was not built out to support cheap transport of coal leaves China structurally strangled in significant dollar denominated debt held mostly in EU which now is in trouble. BlackRock is exposed though hedged to some degree among other players and Goldman bets on a CCP collapse with bond purchases and restructuring. Multiple steel plants are in bankruptcy including one of the largest and the entire metals area is collapsing. Debt has swallowed up more than real estate, but every industry in China is massively over leveraged.

While all of these are acquired, most are pointless old technology as Intel recently acquired vast resources on core components and the failed economic bonds have reversed several deals mentioned. We are currently working to expose the failed economic underpinnings.

The “middle men” are often the equivalent of CCP thieves in government, but technology changes could change the market dynamics.

With repeated warnings about China’s FX position by the Bank of International Settlements that Special Drawing Rights could be restricted because of FX reserves and Internal Monetary Issues things could become serious. Gordon Chang has discussed this on Newsmax and Epoch Times commentary many times. The FX position as of today has worsened even more.

  43. SOEs have been the bane of Chinese poor performance in many areas. With poor resource allocation and vast corruption the choking grim of the CCP will drive any remaining external investment away and possibility of survival in China.
