  1. Both countries are currently absolutely terrible in their own distinct ways. It's not a dichotomy. Anyone who has had to travel to major cities in the US notices the patterns unless they're blind. And mainly it's the absolutely out of control violent crime from groups that shouldn't even be here.

I am someone right of center but certainly don't agree with people generalizing universities and colleges (as someone who did very well in a business school with little left wing influence). However, there were 3 specific professors I did run across who were hopelessly ruthless in shoving their progressive agendas down students' throats in the guise of stories, etc. (Not literature departments, but anything related to culture or political science as well.) It does exist in varying rates across the universities. I don't like the generalizations about universities just as much as I don't like people like you generalize people for political views.

  14. Crazy story. Anyway, welcome back to the Lexus club. I have a '00 GS400 (Aristo) with the 1UZ. JDM didn't even get the 1UZ (mostly only for USDM), but I swear it still beats most new engines in smoothness and definitely reliability. Very overbuilt and can handle a ton of power.

  15. laowhy86 I should make a tour. It's a '00 Platinum edition and was actually built in June 2000 making it one of the last ever 1UZ made. It needs a new brake booster now (basically the only design flaw the Aristo had apart from the 1UZ VVT starter motor). It has a bit over 70k miles which is really low. But, damn, I'm not wanting to give up $3k for this brake booster. The car is worth it, though. The thing many people do is put a post-2000 brake booster on because the flaw was corrected.

  32.  @Swenthorian  As someone who has gone back and forth between Georgia and Florida throughout my life I think you're confusing temperature with humidity. Georgia (save for extreme north) and Florida both hover near 100% humidity levels through the year but Florida just gets that 10 degrees or so hotter in the summer on average. And a few extra degrees in near 100% humidity feels like much more.

China doesn't legally have any claim to those waters where they are building their many military bases in... except to themselves.
