@mr.terrific8037 But I'm not a athlete. I played and played and I loved sports but I just didn't have that natural ability that a couple of my buddies did. One of them went on to have a career in the NHL. When he was a kid, he put on a pair of skates and was zipping around like he'd always skated while the rest of us took years to learn how to skate properly. He was a lucky guy yet he had to work hard to get to reach that level that allowed him to have a lucrative career in sports. Part of it was a scholarship to Cornell, where he received a degree that gave him the background to go on to sports management. A lucky guy that worked hard to achieve success.

The student is exceedingly fortunate, receiving an education that costs MOST of us tens of thousands of dollars, that takes us YEARS to pay back, but it's still not good enough. Never happy. No gratitude. Just more "It's not fair" whining Just dangle the phrase "millions of dollars" and people lose their minds with resentment and anger. It took me 15 years to pay off my student loans yet these student athletes haven't spent a day paying back loans and you want me to feel bad for them. Not happening. Colleges also make money off research that students, like me, did while in universities. Do I get a cut of the endowments from large corporations that make use of the findings that students like me worked hard on? Not a cent. It opens doors for us and I appreciate that but because it's low profile, not a big fan base cheering me on, my work isn't deemed important by people like you.

@savagetv6460 A school can't produce intelligence. Intelligence is innate and we're all born with our own level brain power and ability. The school's job is to give that intelligence direction, to teach the skills that allow that innate intelligence to flourish within the community that the students live in. If the school isn't teaching those skills, the ability to read, write, do mathematics and to think, that's when that school is failing and too many American schools are failing and miserably. You can thank their unions for that.

@elliott9139 If my kid, at 17, was in that crowd, looting and smashing things, I'd kick his ass till tomorrow. He wouldn't have to worry about cops. His toughness stops at the end of my boot and if you think that these kids are afraid of what their parents might say, you're delusional. They laugh at their parents. No respect for their parents, the law, each other or themselves.

The average leftist believes that it's not that important but the ones that are leading this new movement know damn well how important it is. That's why they want to teach 5 and 6 year olds to keep secrets from their parents and tell them that their skin colour is the most important thing about them and to judge people on colour. They want to get to them, when they're young, so that when they're the ages of these "wilding" kids, they have no fundamental ties to the most important part of their lives. They want to destroy the family so that eventually THEY, the government, will have control over them, not the family. These radical socialists have created a belief system that is negating the roles of parents and supplanting these roles with the power of government.

Child/parent relationships having rocky patches are normal. Calling your parents names, on a public forum, goes beyond that, especially when one is supposed to be an adult. @andreperry7995 We can't change the past, whatever it was. We can't change the future either. We can only change the present. In changing the reality of now, we can, hopefully change our future for the better. It's like being married to an unfaithful wife. It's traumatic, painful and you lose a large piece of yourself. You can withdraw, refuse any more interactions that would lead you back to a married relationship or you can try again, learning from the first interaction and avoiding the pitfalls that brought you to today. You're using the past to avoid changing the present. To you, it sounds as if you believe that since the past happened, change is impossible and avoiding pitfalls, even those that aren't your fault, can't be done. Like I said, if you don't run, you'll never find success in a race. Just because you lost the last race because someone tripped you, you don't quit racing. You run again, aware of the fact that the unfair does happen, and avoiding the unfair as much as possible. The past is irrelevant because it's out of your control. Don't use it to hobble the now and, by proxy, your future. It can only bring more of the past and you certainly don't want that.

Trans athletes CAN compete. Leah Thomas, a biological male, competed with biological males for 3 years in collegiate sports. He was ranked 462nd among collegiate men. He could have competed in his 4th year, with biological males, as a transgender and might have even improved that ranking but he'd NEVER have set records. He could only do that by competing against collegiate, biological women. It's incredible that there are women that are supporting biological men taking BACK the rights that were given to women in the first place.

That young guy just made a strong point about making wise decisions and that young girl asks why is it the woman had to move away to escape an abusive relationship. She wants to know why the man wasn't taught not to be abusive? What does it matter? You know that abusive people exist. Why weren't YOU taught that your choices will strongly affect how your life turns out? That you should be careful and choosy about who you choose as a partner? Why wasn't she taught that?

JOY......criticising the press is NOT going against the freedom of the press. We're allowed to criticise. NOW....if you can come up with a time in which Trump wanted to do AWAY with press that was giving him a hard time, THEN you'd have a reason to say that he was assaulting the freedom of the press. All you have now is your anger at being criticised. And yes....if you lie and you KNOW that you're lying, then you ARE the enemy of the people. You're the enemy of all of us. Also, if you hate Trump so much, why are you allowing him to set behavioural standards. If it's wrong for Trump....it's wrong for Biden. That goes for Whoopi, as well. Why would you use a person that you hate as your measuring stick? It's ridiculous.

David Hutchins It's nice that they've apologised for the role of the African Kingdoms but I don't see it as necessary. It wasn't them. It was their ancestors. Not one of us should be held accountable for what our ancestors did because there isn't a person on the planet that doesn't have ancestors that have taken part in deplorable acts. My parents lived through the war in the Netherlands. My mother didn't have a father and was exceptionally poor as a child. She, along with her family, almost starved to death because of the actions of the Nazis. In the sixties and seventies, I worked with guys who were in the military in Germany, as Gestapo and military grunts. I had friends whose fathers fought in Holland in the German military. I don't expect an apology from them. Part of the healing process isn't just feeling remorse. It's also forgiveness. Unless those two qualities don't manifest themselves, the pain will never go away. Forgiveness is just as important as the apology and depending on the person, maybe even more important.

David Hutchins I fully understand how those African kingdoms had been involved in the slave trade long before the trans-Atlantic slave trade. My point is that it's nice that the modern African apologises but that modern guy is no more responsible than I am or you. History is complex. It's better to acknowledge that it happened and move on. Too many people these days want to lay blame. That can be an exceedingly destructive human trait. Blame has a habit of morphing into retribution and that has been catastrophic in history. That's my point. In a way, it's just an extension of what you're saying. The slave trade, in history, is complex and it's too simplistic to just point fingers and yell "GUILTY!!!"

@DreamFactories He was talking about the NFL owners. He likened them to slave owners and I'm not sure why. The players are part of a players union in which they negotiate with the owners to give them a stake in the success of the league. Each player can sign a personal contract with the team if they want or not sign it. They can sign with any team they like after they've been in the league for a fixed amount of years. They can leave the league any time they want and do whatever you want. A team owner may not like an exceptional player to leave but there is absolutely nothing he can do about it. To even begin to compare those owners to the real slave owners of colonial America is a slap in the face to the real slaves of that era. The players union can bring those owners to their knees and even bankrupt some of those owners if they put their mind to it....but they won't. The players aren't that stupid. They know that for them to have success the owners must have success. Notice, he didn't say that about the NBA owners. LeBron knows the reason for his own success and isn't so stupid as to not be appreciative of it.

@adlucem9845 Well done. I would like to add something that's a little different. All the minority neighbourhoods that were destroyed by the BLM riots. You didn't see the homes of the elites destroyed and the minute that they were threatened, suddenly the police and National Guard went into action. Thanks for that list. I've a mind to copy it so that I use it to show the BLM apologists in other conversations. I hope you don't mind.

The law states that you have to buy something or leave. I know. I've told people to leave for that reason. It is a misdemeanour and you can be evicted from the premises and charged with trespassing. It is against the law. It doesn't matter who you are. It's a very simple concept.

When Ron DeSantis passed a law that forbids the teaching of sex-ed in Kindergarten through grade 3, it was the Democrats that called it the "Don't say gay" bill. It was flat out lie. It had to do with ALL sexually charged conversations. It was Democrats that supported all the "peaceful" BLM riots. Only the wilfully blind can deny this.

No integrity implies the opposite, that there is no self worth and a lack of shame. It also shows how little they think of others. It had to exist or what the hell was the abolitionist movement all about? Why fight the Civil War, to end slavery, if there were no slaves? It's illogical. My question still stands. Why would the Republicans suppress knowledge about slavery and Jim Crow, when that knowledge makes the Democrats look bad? Answer the question that I posed.

@thelastcommenter7154 I posed it because there is one side claiming that the other side is trying to cover up the fact of slavery in human history. They are accusing the Republicans of this coverup. I gave you the history of the Republicans and wondered why the Republicans would cover up a history that makes the Democrats look bad and Republicans look good. I don't know when the first slave ship came to the land which would one day become America. I know that there was a first because there were lots of slave ships that did come. It's a silly detail that is irrelevant to the big picture. However, I'm going to guess that it was in 1619 and it landed in Virginia. However, it's not even close to the first slave ship to the New World. Slaves have been coming to the Caribbean and Brazil for over a century before that. If you want to go back further than that, there's been a slave trade all over the world for thousands of years. It's NOT an American invention. Spartacus led a slave rebellion 2100 years ago. Europe didn't even know that America existed back then. I'm not even sure what your point is.

That's the claim that proponents of CRT are claiming. "They are suppressing CRT because they want to hide the reality of slavery". Why would a party, that formed with the mandate of abolishing slavery, want to hide that slavery existed? It's illogical. Also, you never corrected anything. Not one fact or detail was given that could be used as a correcting point. People bog themselves down in details and forget the big picture. Also, I didn't google it. I guessed that year because I'd heard of the 1619 Project. I used common sense NOT Google. It seems rather disingenuous to claim that slavery and CRT could only be applied to America, when slave trades have been in existence for centuries. The African slave trade also took place in the Caribbean, South America, Europe and in the Middle East. Yet, you're only going to apply it to the US? Strange thing is, the US is the ONLY country that fought a Civil war, that killed and maimed hundreds of thousands of it's own citizens and which brought to an end slavery in that country. That's also a part of history. The ones that brought the African slave trade (native Americans practised slavery too) to America, did so because of a history of slavery that went back thousands of years. In other words, it was nothing new OR unique to America. Also, it still doesn't answer why the Republicans would want to cover up their part in ending the African slave trade.

Typical progressive nonsense. He's quite willing to mock it but actually talk about what's IN the Constitution that bothers him, he doesn't do that. They didn't consult him and that's enough. Either the Constitution has worth based on what's written in it or it doesn't. That's what's at issue. That "expert" can't even address that simple idea. We just don't know all the back room stuff that's going on. We're dealing with the most heinous and ruthless human beings that there exist. Anything is possible and I will hold my opinion in abeyance until I have ALL the information, not just the surface stuff that we're allowed to see. Do you get what I'm saying? What we're ALLOWED to see. I will not be manipulated by their machinations. It's a game that I refuse to play.
