  8. So… to become like God we must submit to God. The submitters are saved. It still begs the question, though not all that relevant for a Christian, “who are the submitters?” Cuz I know some serious submitters to the god of the 401k god. It feels like this impossibly long comment tells us only people of the book who submit are true “submitters”. Perhaps?

  12. I agree... the only way out is a type of awakening and then the thing that is more important than anything else is human connection. Love. The idea that no matter what stupidity I do or what kind of horror befalls me there is someone right there who will hold onto me. Most people subject to the machine, the west, have fewer and fewer of these bonds. And that's not by chance...

  20. Yes… the escape part might be the wrong way of understanding. The church allows us to escape our smallness and our sin and enter something bigger than ourselves. And still we might get killed. The death part won’t go away I’m afraid. The peace part though has been for me in knowing the beauty of Christs body…

  27. One other note: there are many many gradations of humble community living and “smallness” societies that are anything but communist (in the Marxist and atheistic sense). The apprehension you express just doesn’t hit home for me after living in non communist communitarian societies. Be at peace. Christian’s can be semi poor, mostly happy and non communist all at the same time. See most of Christian history for such evidence.
