  2. Wait you scored a 2!? Okay yung old boi, so is your love for Malcolm’s episode as one seeing his work as efficacious or is it a love for the episode as a type of unveiling of dangerous thinking? I’m fascinated because I loved it too as one being taught about the importance of presuppositions. Malcom’s presuppositions mean he will sound sensible and rational yet end up implementing things deeply irrational. Maybe? Like eugenics makes sense until it’s applied to a soul.

How does God interact with his creation other than as per the revelation we/you might call Q’uran? And if that Godly activity in the world is the book of the heart, do we need the book called Quran ? As per perrenialism, yes… but that they emphasized “praxis” always sits oddly with me… which? Why this praxis not that? Why do they prioritize the monotheistic practices (which they clearly do)… I find perennial practice talk nonsensical… I understand why they emphasize it. They have no ground for praxis as per the gnostic nature of perrenialist intellectualism. Or so it seems…

  10. The good news is that the church healed your mind. It healed your mind of white nationalism. It’s a joy! That is my point. God is good! There was no sauce in my glass. I was drunk on the notion that people actually think whiteness exists. It’s an intoxicating absurdity. it was fun having fun about an idea that’s not real and yet captivates and captures people who are hurting. The Pod isn’t about those people it’s about the evil idea that stymies them. Keep going… Free yourself from the foolishness of whiteness.

And it’s largely a problem created by Enlightenment style science that attempts to teach us that there is something unifying about “Europe” qua “white”. There’s nothing more “white” about Northern Europeans than “white” Serbs or Georgians. Or Italians. Whiteness does nothing to help us understand these differences. Foolish “scientists” built in the image of foolish “enlightened” deists and atheists wanted us to believe this however. They created categories to serve their cultures. And their cultures were all about “progress” and material power and efficiency and funny thing… all of these values turn out to be “white”. Buy your comment which I love because it is as you are, earnest, makes the most terrifying point of all for me. You frame this as about my generation. Gen X. If so it lays waste to St Maximos and St John Chrysostom and other Gen Ancients who did not write as “whites” or “browns”. The excuse that this is an old guy not getting it is the most dangerous comment of all for me. Whiteness is not a thing and Christians, Orthodox above all, should never find themselves embracing it as such. I would say it is demonic. I think.

And so I added the word Christian to the thought “Dairy Queen” and said it all out loud as a way to say that adding Christian to something should make it better. Adding the word Christian to the words white nationalist… well, that just makes Christianity worse. So I’d love if white nationalist types just stopped doing that. It’s like “hey, I’m a LBTQ+… Christian.” Um. So… that’s kinda the idea. I wish I could say things better

See… what is happening to me now and I think maybe to many others, is simply this hunched shoulders moment when I look at the science guy of choice (here it is my pal Seth) and just sort of say “your facts are just not relevant anymore”. It’s just not convincing that the Light People have it all figured out. The narrative is comical to me now. “No, sorry, your plan for the future of humanity also includes the caveat that random atoms collided in really cool ways in order to create an animal that cries tears of joy. Yep. Just not buying it science guy. Your words feel dead to me. I can’t get excited anymore when you say “potential” and “future” and “freedom” and “rights.” It all feels rather made up now. I’d rather imagine a soul and see a brother next to me on the subway. Seems more beautiful in the end…

  31. You bring up a great set of points Thomas! The world is, in some ways, making brothers again of the disparate fractured Christian heresies… and I say that with love. I am fully believing these days that the world is being broken into what the deists aimed to define as theism and atheism. Which makes us United. But… are we brothers in Christ? It seems the western worlds turn into postmodernism is forcing a reconciliation or, perhaps, a series of tests that will burn away the nominal confessor of Christ. And… well… maybe that’s yet another way to answer the question: we shall see! As an Orthodox convert dude much of this conversation is not unlike old tense conversations from the early days of any marriage; quaint but less and less painful or even relevant. That’s my approach these days, I think I know what I have entered and as for you (others), I am not able to say. I try to embrace the depth I have rather than peruse the reality of the experiences I don’t have. Or no longer have. And I love Fsther Sils beard.

It offers nearly nothing but some sort of genos poorly constructed by deistic “scientists”. German is a thing. Whiteness is nearly nothing. It binds nearly nothing. Dutchmen is a thing. They have very little in common with Greekmen. To pretend such a white unity exists is simply a reaction to some nebulous “blackmen “ concept. What I am saying is obvious.   38. Good cents my brother! But I really do think martyrdom is detachment in a way that makes “westerners” deeply uncomfortable. Martyrdom is the archetypal image of Christianity. It is the pattern of Christ. That we in the west chafe at it is well… normal. We westerners also literally destroyed our monasteries. See England. It was the plan of “Christian’s” to destroy their monastic institutions. That’s not an idea we should dismiss.

White nationalism is an idea and it is worthy of attention and negative attention people who sound and act like white nationalist are good people because they are created in God‘s image. They are good. The idea,however, is not only bad, it is destructive to the Christian life that is the key point. So… A few harsh words can be a good is thing when applied to a very bad idea. A hard saying can be healing. I can be more prescriptive and I’ll try harder next time! People are good… and yet we adhere to the bad. White nationalism is a very bad idea indeed. German nationalism? Could be a wonderful thing! Depends on the disposition of the souls of Germans. Ethiopian nationalism? Could be hot! White nationalism? That’s not a thing… or at best it is a very mongrelized and debased thing. What is “a white”?

I actually don’t even know what that is… Were the white people of France killing the German people of Germany Because the German people were less white? Whiteness is a terrible category. We shouldn’t use it if we are serious about following Christ.

  49. This is the best comment that has ever blessed our Podcast. I was so not drunk in this podcast! But as I think back… Am I always drunk? It’s possible… Sometimes well I drink but lots of people drink. But to say, I was drunk? No way! That I was drunk on the conversation about whiteness as an actual category worth building a nation around? Definitely wasted when it comes to that drink of choice! That idea made me very drunk. It should make all of us rather tipsy from a strong sense of stupidity and confusion.
