@jonathonloughridge9191 hello jon

The British destroyers like the J and Tribal classes have two turrets to the front while the Japanese and Germans tend to have two to the stern of the ship what was the thinking behind these designs and which set up do you prefer?
1
47:27 "The Battle of Prides fall" or "The Battle to start all arguments".
1
Assuming the British and Japanese didn't want to give up the Anglo-Japanese treaty would that have started a war, who would have won and which ships would be the key for each nations fleet at the time

HMS Victory VS SMS Kaiser (From Lissa) HMS Victory VS USS Constitution

@johnshepherd9676 I wasn't saying they needed an excuse, the Japanese commited crimes like that daily, its just the Japanese took their anger at the raid out on the Chinese and launched another offensive into China to make sure that such a raid couldn't be repeated. An offensive that came at a bad time as the Japanese were still pushing to Australia at the time and the Chinese, British and Americans were trying to stop the bleeding in Burma and stop a push at India which saw a good lot of the best Chinese troops wiped out the last thing the allies and Chinese esspecially need at the time was another offensive to deal with and the Doolittle raid brought that on.

20:45 i'm sure i've head that line before, from the US sub campaign series when the US tired to give the Mark 6 exploder to the UK.

How do the Mogami's with their original turret armament compare to other nations light cruisers?
1
Was their ever a plan to give the Kongo's more armour then the 9 inch belt
1
You've made jokes on the Vikers 14 inch but why did Vikers have such trouble selling the guns, they don't seem to be bad guns and there were some very distinctive 14 inch shaped holes in the South Dakota and Samueal B. Roberts?
1
360 degree turning turrets, they were fitted to some destroyers but did anyone fit them to anything larger or any plans to?
1
Why is their so much space between the superstructure and the rear turret on the La Galissonniere class it seems a bit odd that they wouldn't cut that down to make the cruiser a smaller target, was is it a machinery issue or was it meant to hold something but then wasn't fitted and they didn't change the design?
1
If the belgrano had entered port stanley what threat could it have posed to british task force, the british land forces and how could the british counter it
1
Which ships rivalries storeis do you like the most? Such as USS Enterprise and the Shoukaku class and HMS Victorius and Tirpitz.
1
What would weapon would you use in a boarding action the Napoleonic. World War 1 and World War 2 Era's only using the weapons you could have used at the time? (No ray guns sadly)
1
Ah its truely christmas as we have a Drach video, also Merry Christmas Drach and to Mrs Drach to.
1
@trooperdgb9722 Drach was asked about Sheean and i agree that Sheean easily earned it and how he didn't is baffling but as he was covered i did not include him but yes i would like to see him to given the award i believe Drach summed Sheen's actions tus "When it comes our time to die most of us can hope to pass with half as much dignity at the end."
1
I know its a bit outside the channels time period but I've read that while in Korea HMS Unicorn conducted shore bombardment at Chopekki Point, is this true and if so why, was she trying to follow HMS Formidable's example at Matapan?
1
Was their any doctrines for destroyers firing torpedos against other destroyers?
1
Given the two forces on paper how would the French Navy have done against the Italians in the Mediterranean theater after 1940 assuming that somehow the French Navy is still fighting and on the allies side?
1
Operation Sea Lion has begun as it would have historically and you've been given command of a Royal Navy strike force and will be the vanguard of the counter attack after the initial fighting has been concluded, you've been given Warspite as your flagship with Royal Sovereign, Edinburgh and Sheffield and two dozen destroyers, you'll be alone for twenty four hours and Churchill has impressed upon you the need to attack, whats your plan?
1
I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End and i got to the bit were the Endeavour is being hit from both sides and the ship detonates and you've mentioned ships from the age of sail exploding how common was it and was it more common then the age of steam and steel?
1
What happened to the carrier HMS Dasher?
1

1
What was the Yamato equivalent for the Age of Sail, Ironclads and Pre-Dreadnoughts? i.e. the pinical these types of ships reached before dying off.
1
31:12 "To give him at least some credit, Beaty..." who are you and what you done with the real Drach?
1
Did the crew of HMS Campbeltown get the same option as the commandos the option to op out or was it a case that for the crew of the ship it was you got volunteered and thanks for volunteering
1
Would the Bismarck have had a better chance if you put the appalling Japanese 25mm AA gun's on instead of its equivalent German gun as i seem to remember the swordfish's slow speed was a factor and as you've pointed out the 25mm has a rather slow rate of fire also who has more battle honours the grand old lady HMS Warspite or the Grey Ghost USS Enterprise
1
The thing that is quite a smack is Admiral Gensoul said to his men "if their is a a stain on your flag today it is not on your's" and i would agree the stain of having to do the shooting is on the British but the stain of forcing them is on his flag and that frankly is worse the British didn't want to do this but they felt they had to

HMS Thunderchild: "Is that all you brought?"
1
Was their any advantages to the Jeune École doctrine?
1
@ibbi32 He has one link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-8ppT7TYrg

By god did Taffy 3 do the USN honour

What would have happened if the Bismark and Prinz Euguen had broken out and run in to one of the convoy's that were escoted by a Revenge or Queen Elizabeth class battleship
1
Two part question for you what is your opinion on the Kongo class after their refit to battleships and how good were "Destroyer Leader" type ships like the Tenryuu light cruiser and HMS Valhalla destroyer
1
I have finished rewatching the Guadalcanal series in full again and it struck me that US intelligence seems to not be as good as it was at Midway, was Midway just a lucky one off or had something changed between Midway and Guadalcanal?
1
If the British had used "Highball" on Tirpitz when they hoped to use it in 1943 what do you think the result could have been?
1
In your first of your Battle of Jutland video you mentioned U-Boats being or nearly being thrown from the depths, how would this happen and was their any other times this was recorded or was 1916 a unique time for U-Boat throwing?
1
@Drachinifel Thank you sir

Ok so personally for me i would rather survivability over strike power, now i can certainly see the argument for strike power but i would rather keep the ships and crew alive then put them more at risk for greater strike potential. (Note: i am British so do take that into account) Taking coral sea as an example, yes the British carriers would likely not have done some much damage to Zuikaku and might have done less damage to Shoukaku then the Americans but i would still have the carriers and the air group can be replaced or replenished much quicker then a carrier would. Remember Lexington and Yorktown were sunk and heavily damaged respectively, now if they were British carriers they might not have been so heavily damaged (I am assuming one is still sunk and i have the same number available at Midway as the Americans have historically) and when Midway comes about i have three active full working carriers rather then two full and one functional but still damaged carriers. But i can see the counter argument that if i have more striking power i could sink more, say two or three more ships and this i do concede, but i would rather keep my ships afloat, so i feel it needs mentioning that the US could much more easily replace a lost carrier then the British could have done as the British were being bombed day and night while the Americans not so much. And i do think Drach has it right over all the best is the middle ground but if i was forced to pick one or the other i would pick surviving.
1
How do you think the later battles in the pacific could have been effected had admiral yamamoto not died
1
Why do some ships have turrets pointing backwards at the superstructure is their a practical reason for this or is it just in case of a mutiny so you can blow that part away?
1
@kemarisite i was more meaning the third turret in the N3 class the third turret on that ship was pointing at the super structure and i've seen others like that it just seemed weird to me
1
Poor Hiei being turned into a punching bag, still she did give a good account for herself, if it wasn't for those bombardment shells she could have got two cruiser kill and maybe more.
1
@packr72 If she had the AP loaded she would have got more.
1
@packr72 Battlecruiser i know the Japanese called them Battleships but they don't have the armour of a Battleship their a Battlecruiser. And yes even with that its still a bad trade but i would say thats more due to bad tactics then a fault of the ship.
1
@73Trident Your going to have explain that phrase is it like if "pigs had wings"?
