WHEN YOU ARE NO LONGER THE GLOBAL HEGEMON you cant go around dictating terms to other countries without repercussions

MY NEIGHBOR HAS A €28K Chinese crossover - is a "DONGFENG T5-EVO" Honestly it is AMAZING - leather seats, electric seats, 7sp automatic, 48mpg, and THE best paint job I have seen outside a classic car show, really next level - and it looks like a lamborghini urus

100% AGREE ABOUT THE CHART its absolutely terrible
73
THE WAY THE US CHIPS ACT HAD FAILED is quite spectacular
72
My first S Class Mercedes was a 1989. My last was a 2012. In that time almost every model was worse than the last for quality [the 1994 probably bing the BEST]. They changed from quality engineering to cheap electronic toys that very quickly stopped working. I literally gave away my last car, after 3 years of not using it so much didn't work it was not economical for me to repair it all. they poured their reputation for engineering excellence down the toilet.

My neighbour has a Dongfend Evo T5 small SUV - €28k, 4cyl 200bhp, 7sp auto, 48mpg, fill leather electric seats, 4 zone climate, the BEST paint job I have seen on a new car for 40 years, looks like a mini Lambo SUV. Incredibly build quality. I ahve not driven it but for €28 it is ASTONISHING
59
@rogerstarkey5390 A LOT ARE - a recent study of from memory 138 Chn scientists selling up and moving back to Chn voulenterilly - racism and the current general culture of anti Chn sentiment was a major factor.
57
YES and a lot of them are going "home" - if their studies were paid ofr the the Chn Gvt the deal is "come home is we need you" and Chn are starting to tell them to come home
50
CHINESE CULTURE HAS THE BELIEF THAT KNOWLEDGE IS THE PROPERTY OF MANKIND this does not sit with the Western culture of "This is exclusively mine to profit from" I learned this on a degree program about ancient Chinese philosophy and always wondered how it manifested in the modern world.
47
One of my neighbours has a brand new Dongfeng Forthing evo t5 - its a €25k mid sised SUV. The build quality is shockingly good. Its as good as a €60k Mercedes only the paint finish is better. Ive not seen a paint finish as good outside a classic car show.
43
ASML are moving to France which is less inclined to bow the knee to the US. And they said if the US go after the French govt, they will relocate to China.
37
China is 55% of their business. The US is 5%
32
I think ASML are being very VERY optimistic there - I think its more like 5 years. This is largely because ASML are unable to invest as much in R&D due to lower revenue as a result of not being able to sell to China and China having essentially unlimited R&D budget.
29
Here i Bulgaria we have $12k EV's and the $28k one my neighbour has got looks as good as a BMW or Merc for build quality, staggering how good it is
28
@michaele4830 TBH the US usually steals the idea or the US govt funds the research/ US businesses almost never come up with a good idea. But they are good at commercialising other peoples ideas - or they are when there is no competition
28
Dont worry bud, neither can the UK, my home country. Its so embarrassing. We have to face facts, the UK [ and the west in general ] cant make anything. If the UK want a high speed railway, just get the Chinese to build it - at least we GET a railway.
26
That is NOT the Am3ric4n way
25
"ITS MORE IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND CHINA" 4 years ago I did the first year of a degree program in Ancient Chinese Philosophy - I immediately realised you can NOT understand China without knowing Chinese philosophy and you can NOT understand Chinese manufacturing unless you understand China. If you think about China or Chinas manufacturing with Western mind - you will be completely wrong. What shocks me is how many US leaders have ZERO idea about China.
20
My father is a BAD person. But he is an astonishing scholar of history and geopolitics and he predicted pretty much everything that has come to pass. And he predicted it in the 70's and 80's.

@huskywr240 I 100% agree. None of this is for the benefit of the E U or the other countries you have the bases in, its for the benefit of the U S
16
Former S CLass Mercedes driver for 25 years - My neighbour has a BYD something - its along name I cant remember - its shockingly good, better than Tesla, maybe not as good as Polstar?!?!? But he paid €28k for it not €78k
15
Am3ric4 is going to whine and cry and throw its toys out of the pram something rotten
14
HAHAHHHAHAHA
14
The Chinese had published books of building regulations 1,200 years ago whilst we were literally making mud huts.
14
@joelturley4847 BRICS is 37% of global GDP - the G7 is 29%. In 1985 the G7 was 75% of global GDP. In 2022 BRICS was 33% of global GDP - now what were you saying about the loser club...???
13
WE DONT BUILD CARS PEOPLE WANT we build cars bosses and shareholders want to sell - vastly over prices massive SUV's Even the Am3ric4ns are getting sick of them
13
@fannyalbi9040 But its not though is it - thats just half of it the rest is context and facts about China.
12
ME - "OHH charts!!!" :-D
12
I had a doctor who was clearly on his 2nd day without a shower or sleep misdiagnosed me as having a ruptured liver - it turned out to be my throat bleeding. I had ruptured blood vessels from coughing. It had no consequences for me but it goes to show you...
11
THE WORLDS NO 1 SELLING CHIP is the 8051 Microcontroller - an 8 bit chip used to control everything from washing machines to car engines NOT the NVIDIA H100
11
@Justspinwin Im not complaining - just saying that is happening thats all
11
Well thats the thing about those leopards - they do be hungry
10
@kevintewey1157 Have you tries MOONSOT's "Kimi". its what Google should be if they made it better instead of worse. I LOVE it. Another Chinese AI.
10
@chunniu3936 - Subcontract it to the Chinese, at least it will be functional.
10
@nanyanguo1 Actually if you read down my comments - its BOTH. Chn is recalling its chip design PhD's. But also many scientists are leaving as they dont like the current climate in the country.
9
They have created a perenial rice - you dont ahve to re plant it. It grows every year from the old plant. Imagine the labour and energy saving in that. The also have dry rice, does not need the fields to be flooded.
8
@marcc1830 REALLY bad graphic - lie one of those colour blindness tests
7
@babahanuman83 Unlike Am3ric4 Europe has a choice, it will likely screw it up, mostly because it does what the US tells it. But Europe manufactures the world's luxury goods and people in the emerging empires want those goods. If the EU unhitches itself from the US and concentrates on making luxury goods it has a bright future as it will rise alongside the rising nations. But the US has a zero sum view and if it cant be No1 NO ONE CAN The sanctions on Russia were to hurt the EU not Russia.
7
Thats not true.
5
@AnotherExtraFist BINGO a person who understands that the US needs the EU and Russia at war to make the EU dependent on the US and not a competitor - which it would be if it had access to the Russian mineral and energy reserves.
5
FOR 100 YEARS THE U S HAS OFFERED THE WORLD 8OM8S AND DEBT now China is offering trade and infrastructure and the U S has NO way of countering that
5
@hungrysurfer9471 Yeah but there agin - dont invade Ukraine
4
@FunnyBunny-pd5xx No problem. I'm no fan of NATO and especially Am3ric4. And I blame the US for the war. But Russia DID have the choice to not invade, hundreds of people have been unlived, cities ruined, farm land unfit to be farmed for human food due to the contamination. It did NOT need to happen. NATO did this, Am3ric4 did that but ultimately Russia sent the tanks across the border...
4
QUESTION....!?!?!? Do you think China will buy all Columbia's Coffee and Oil now Trump has blackmailed Columbia with tariffs...??? Columbia's coffee is among the best in the world and there is a coffee shortage in China I believe?
4
OH the U5A will be angry if it cant bully you, thats what it likes to do
4
China is a 3000 year old country fully PLANNING to be here in another 3000 years Am3ric4 is a 250 year old country planning to make a profit next quarter
4
Things that go boom mostly
4
Because its easier to spend $1 Billion buying up family homes and apartments and renting them to people at ever-increasing rents and the value of the property going up every year at 10% than it is to spend $800 million building a bridge and getting $200 million profit
