If you are going to impose the sanctions then you need to government fund ASML with $10 billion a year for R&D. Sanctions ALWAYS stifle innovation - 100% tariffs on Chinese cars mean Am3ric4ns will be driving $200k cars in 15 years that are face lift versions of today's models that are facelift versions of cars developed in the 2000's I believe China has a prototype EUV machine

  8. EXACTLY - also - The $USD only has value cos the US is global No1. So its used as the reserve. If the US is not No1, there is nothing to back up the $USD - they dont make anything, they dont ADD VALUE. So the USD will crash if they are not No1. SO the US endlessly damages over countries to stop them from competing. The sanctions on Russia were much more about damaging the EU then stopping the war.

Every single person in the EU except the hyper-wealthy has got poorer for the sanctions on Russia and it has made NO difference except to make the EU weaker then the US - people are waking up to the fact this was the US intention all along.
