@mugumyapaultheafricannomad9488 - WOW - what an AMAZING trip you are doing. In 2005 I drove from my home country the UK through Europe to Spain and then across to Cuita, then Morroco and down the west coast through Western Sahara, Mauritania, a bit of Algeria, Senegal, The Gambia and a bit of Guinea - Bissau but that was only by going too far on a road at night, we got turned back by the military police.
Ive travelled in 53 countries, hopefully, soon I will be able to travel more in Eastern Europe as I want to talk to more people about their experiences of the communist times here.
To what you were saying, people in the west look at the average earnings here IN Bulgaria - $600 a month and assume everyone is unbelievably miserable and deprived. But 85% of people hare own their own home with no mortgage, most families only one person works, the hospitals are all brand new, the roads like glass, and my rent on a beach front apartment is $150 a month...
Sure the cars tend to be 15 or 20 years old, but apart from that most people live a life that average Americans can only dream of... You cant compare countries on the $$$$ earned per month - its meaningless.
