  1.  @BreakThePendulum76  Am3ric4s economy has bifurcated - there are TWO economies. The economy of the top 30% which is doing amazingly well. And the economy of the 70% which is doing very badly. The numbers look good cos the 30% are doing so well. Its becoming like a pre WW1 economy, Lots of people struggling, a tiny middle class and a large [by usual standards] wealthy. My friend in the US earns about $200k, and she has cut back on the spending because she can feel the cost of living.

  2.  @BreakThePendulum76  Im British by birth but Ive lived all over. Ive lived in Bulgaria for 15 years. I work very much part time due to health issues after covid, but my rent on a beach side apartment in Burgas Bulgaria is $165 a month. The average salary in this city is about $1,200 a month. A newly qualified 18 year old nurse earns about $700 so they could easily afford to rent their own apartment. The average family has 2 children on 1 salary. The government and society give vast amounts of help to young families, 2 years off work if you have a kid, fresh meals delivered to your door every morning till school age, then free school meals etc. Bulgaria is the opposite of the US or the Uk. Very small % of wealthy, almost no "middle class" but the vast majority are "working class doing OK"

  10. THIS IS NOT AN ALIEN STORY But its equally odd. I was walking my dog down the street and needed to cross at the pedestrian crossing. Its 11.30 pm so nothing on the road except one bus. I was 30 yards from the crossing and I worked out I would NOT make it before the bus, so I just sauntered waiting for the bus to pass. The bus disappeared and reappeared 400 yards away coming around the corner at the bottom of the hill. I crossed the road at a saunter long before the bus got to me... IF the bus had jumped closer it would easily be explained by a short black out or a few seconds of sleep - but to jump 400 yards BACK. And its not like I was not paying attention - I was actually watching to bus to see if I could make the crossing before it did... I think space time has glitches in it...

In my socialist country insurance is 'socialised' - they can only use national statistical data not individual so a 17 year old pays the same for car insurance as a 55 year old driving the same car. Id rather not say which country as I will receive lots of comments from Am3ric4ns saying I live in a *** hole [I actually live in a beautiful city with a beach on 3 sides]. Its an ex-communist [socialist] country, now a socialist democracy with a lot of hangovers in culture from the true social era. The public transport is socialised - you pay $0.60 for a ride no matter how far you go or how many busses - its $0.60 to get to work. You don't have to pay more cos your work is a long way away. Most things are like this here.
