@sbalogh53 I can see making a complex dish at home could cost more than ordering a single dish... as some recipes require certain items, and they are only sold in much more quantities than it takes to make one dish, so the extra may go to waste. However, most basic dishes are simple, use few ingredients, and much cheaper to make at home. For example, a huge pot of rice can prob be made for less than $1 (all one needs is rice, water, pot, and stove). The extra rice can easily be made into fried rice the next day for maybe $1 more (egg, onion, carrot, peas, soy sauce, pan, stove). Other easy, and delicious dishes can be roast chicken (salt, pepper, oven), and the bones can make a broth or soup. A bag of rice or potatoes don't cost much, but can easily feed a family with many tasty dishes cheaply. If one is low on, or does not have money, they should stretch out their funds as much as possible, since they don't know where their next check/cash will come. Having tasty food doesn't have to be expensive, but it does take a little bit of work in the kitchen.

@SlavTiger You do know these clips are all framed and edited to look bad right for views... to make a buck? This isn't real news, it's basically entertainment and propaganda wrapped together. And if it didn't draw clicks and views, they won't get paid... so of course they are going to publish sensationalized, and extreme videos. In the early clips, they complain about having weekend sports games (which they do in the US also), but later, another school complain they can't play sports on the weekend. These videos are mostly edited clips, and unless you understand Chinese, the narrator can say anything they want, and we wouldn't know. I recommend you start thinking for yourself, vs just believing everything you hear on YT.
