Aqua Man Assad is a dictator, dictators create extremism.  Saddam Hussein, Assad, they're all the same.  Why hasn't ISIS cropped up in Israel for instance?  The answer is because Israel is peaceful, democratic, and takes care of its citizens.  Assad, Hussein, and Putin, they all don't.  They all contribute to terrorism and extremism.  During the Arab Spring, this all boiled over, and it was their fault.  So by supporting Putin, you are supporting Assad and supporting terrorism.

Tony Abbott Your premise is flawed.  Most of Iraq is relatively safe and prosperous.  Iraqi Kurdistan up north has flourished into one of the most prosperous and liberal places in the Middle East, all thanks to the Iraq War, and thanks to US nationbuilding.  What Putin wants however, is to dominate and crush the people.  It's not comparable to the US's mission.

Aqua Man You are just wrong.  Iraq firstly has done well since the Iraq War.  US has given Iraq billions of dollars to rebuild.  And this has paid off.  Iraqi Kurdistan up north has flourished into one of the most liberal and tolerant places in the Middle East, and most of Southern Iraq is relatively safe and free of terrorism.  So using Iraq as an example that supporting rebels is bad, makes no sense.  And you are wrong.

  26. C M I don't think you understand what the pipeline is for. The pipeline does not add oil to the US. It does not compete with Saudi Arabia for importing oil to the US, as you suggest. The Keystone XL is an extension to a national pipeline that allows TransCanada, a Canadian oil company, to more cheaply bring oil from Canada, down south to the Gulf of Mexico, from which it is sold and exported from the US, to the rest of the oil. Little if any is sold to US consumers, who get most of their oil domestically.

Therefore, cows are proven similar to dogs, and therefore, they should all be treated the same, with compassion. Not to be slaughtered.
