Trump did not know that. He made a claim with weak evidence to score political points and blame others for his poor handling of COVID-19. Later, he was proven right when evidence was discovered that gave credence to the lab leak theory. But he was still wrong and irresponsible to peddle it when he did, when there was no evidence and while acting in a sensationalist matter
1
junwen Deng they are undermining HK’s democracy by refusing people the right to vote, and by passing authoritarian laws like the Extradition Bill
1
Mass shootings are a problem Democrats want to fix and Republicans want to ignore.
1
The US Government is run by dedicated experts
1
@wantedwario2621 maybe you are right, but it doesn’t matter. It is already proven that gun control is better policy at reducing murder. So you are moot
1
@timtimtimmay79 30k gun deaths annually each year in the US, of those, 10k are homicides, 20k are mostly suicides. 10k per year is still a many times higher rate than all other Western nations
1
@FilthyPeasant6 for the last time, MURDER rates AND gun-murder rates are lower in EVERY SINGLE DEVELOPED NATION, all of whom have tougher gun laws
1
@ren3480 gun laws are not strict enough and your premise that they have become more strict is false
1
@wantedwario2621 every other developed nation has both tougher gun laws, AND LOWER RATES OF MURDER AND GUN-ONLY MURDER. YEAR AFTER YEAR THIS ISN’T a coincidence. It’s proof that when a developed country outlaws guns, criminals don’t get them and less people die
1
@ren3480 Presidents don’t make laws so I have no idea what laws Trump passed relating to guns
1
@timtimtimmay79 the murder and gun-murder rates are multiple times higher in the US than all other developed nations, so suicides are already excluded. Even if you discount arbitrarily gang violence (and why would you?), the US still has higher murder and gun-murder rates than all other Western nations.
1
@ren3480 Trump has done nothing
1
@timtimtimmay79 Firstly, all other developed nations have tougher gun laws and lower annual rates of murder and gun-murder. They also have less gang violence. So your claim that gun control won’t impact gang activity is likely wrong. Secondly, even if all gangs commit most violence and use illegal guns, and I don’t think this is true, it is moot because even absent this the US would still have murder and gun-murder rates multiple times higher than the other developed nations.
1
@ren3480 list some stuff Trump did then
1
@timtimtimmay79 number of firearms per capita matters why? Secondly, it’s not just US vs the UK, it’s US vs the dozens of other developed nations. They ALL have tougher gun laws, and lower murders and gun-murders per capita than the US. It’s not a likely coincidence Thirdly, Just in the past 20 years each nation has data that shows these numbers and laws. That’s 400+ individual data points that show the same association of tougher gun laws and lower murder and gun-murder rates. Your speculation that gun control would lead to less successful self defenses and more murders per capita, is unproven fantasy.
1
What proof do you have Biden is senile? Furthermore polls such as Gallup and Pew show Biden and the US have much higher opinion ratings than Trump. Who was hated and laughed at around the world.
1
@benzz4109 pressure how lol? Trump did nothing to combat China. Trump singlehandedly killed the TPP, the trade bloc meant to curtail Chinese influence
1
@benzz4109 what will I see in Taiwan that proves Trump
1
@Gabe_-pw7xv what proof is there that Trump closed his account prior to being elected?
1
@Gabe_-pw7xv very strange, Vanity Fair says that in 2017, after Trump was elected in 2016, he withdrew 15 million USD from the Chinese bank account. He also kept it a secret during most of his presidency. Trump seems corrupt and dangerous. Not tough on China at all.
1
@Gabe_-pw7xv those are taxes paid to China. but Trump also withdrew millions of US dollars that mysteriously appeared in his account. Possibly it was a bribe from the Chinese government, or from marketing to the Chinese. This is not Presidential or tough on China, it is corrupt. This is like FDR having a secret bank account in Germany.
1
@Gabe_-pw7xv the article clearly states in 2017, they had a large 17 million USD spike in revenue, more than the past five years combined, and Trump then withdrew 15 million USD. He kept this all a secret for years. It’s proof of Trump’s corruption and his lack of being tough on China.
1
@Gabe_-pw7xv the article clearly states that the “Chinese account” reported an unusually large revenue surge of 17 million USD in 2017, followed by a 15 million USD withdrawal. It is clear that Trump is not honest, not tough on China, and is corrupt. He has not explained himself honestly or clearly. He deals with dictatorships while a sitting a President. What else is there to consider, tell me
1
@Gabe_-pw7xv how am I wrong if I am repeating facts? All I am doing is repeating what the articles are reporting. Are the articles wrong?
1
@Gabe_-pw7xv I can’t read the full article at the NYT since I’m not subscribed, but I’m sure that the two are in agreement since they’re both reliable sources.
1
@Gabe_-pw7xv he withdrew millions of shadowy money from a hostile regime in 2017, after he was elected. Trump is corrupt and not hard on China
1
@bonsummers2657 what proof is there that the economy is worse?
1
@patrickmorris7064 uh…the Lancet Medical Journal blames Trump and his Administration for bungling the Covid-19 response in the US, causing hundreds of thousands Americans dead from COVID-19. If we had competent leadership under Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden, or even a Republican who was an actual politician, we would’ve not had so much dead or been closed for so long. Do remember how South Korea and the UK were able to largely reopen because they had an organized response to the Covid-19 Pandemic, and a thorough lockdown. Unlike Trump. Who ruined everything and cost the economy untold billions of USD, and handed out trillions of USD in avoidable aid.
1
Washington Clinton basic human rights aren’t a joke. They are worth fighting for. The protests have done a good job at calling global attention to HK’s struggle against corrupt CCP.
1
L1me Ade If it’s true what you say, why does CCP care so much about the rioters then? I think it’s because CCP sees the riots as a threat to their dictatorship
1
Johnny Wang there is nothing wrong in protesting against a dictator who wants to take away your human rights.
1
Washington Clinton NGOs like the Democracy Index consistently rank US highly and PRC poorly, CCP is a menace that should be dismantled
1
L1me Ade the Extradition Bill, Mainland polices like social scores, and internment of minorities are warning signs that CCP is evil like Nazis
1
Y Z I get all my news from BBC and NPR.
1
C D Delbert US is a democracy unlike Mainland China
1
Washington Clinton HK, like every human on Earth, deserves a nation that respects human rights.
1
dik lumber the Democracy Index lists the US highly and the PRC poorly. The US isn’t as bad as you think according to expert opinions
1
Z Y PRC is a dictatorship with poor human rights and wealth inequality. NGO reports like the Democracy Index say so.
1
Yitong Liu the NGO reports don’t lie. They say that PRC is a regime. Why would HK want to get closer to the PRC?
1
dik lumber very funny. The NGO reports don’t lie. US and the rest of the Western World lie at the top, regimes at the bottom.
1
Z Y the NGO reports are objective expert sources and you have no reason not to trust them when they say that China is a regime
1
Washington Clinton the NGO reports don’t lie. US is better than PRC
1
Washington Clinton anything to escape the wrath of the CCP. CCP is tyrannical and awful, they are doing Holocaust level stuff
1
Washington Clinton NGO reports aren’t owned by any government so idk what you’re saying. I don’t want to watch media from unreliable sources
1
Washington Clinton is there any proof that the NGOs, which are non-governmental, are being directed by Western governments?
1
Washington Clinton so where’s the proof
1
Washington Clinton because the current consensus among professionals is that the NGOs are unbiased. If you believe that they’re biased, then you have to prove it. Otherwise why should I trust you over the experts?
1
Stop telling lies. There are thousands of unused oil permits in the US, Biden as President cannot compel private companies to drill and produce more. And US never left weapons to the Taliban. It’s unfair of you to blame Biden for the Taliban attacking US servicemen. Do you blame Trump for every American casualty when he was in office?
1
@josephharris1323 you’re refusing to consider evidence from reliable sources. You are dangerous
1
@Rejectsocialism I’m not expressing my opinion, I’m stating facts. Facts don’t care about your feelings.
