  1. Did the US start the Syrian Civil War? Are you aware that the US has given 4.5 billion dollars in humanitarian aid to Syria since 2012? Or that nation-building in Iraq and Afghanistan has been successful and is undermining extremism?

  9. Ro Nom None of what you said is true.  The US does not go it alone. The US depends on its allies and its allies depend on the US.  See the Democratic Peace Theory.  Don't believe the propaganda either, Europe is not failing under immigration, and the US is only responsible the Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, and only the Iraq War was the definite wrong one.  The US can also change and improve, and it has since the Bush Administration.  Can Russia and China claim to do the same?

Tarek E You know why it got rejected?  Because Russia is a wolf in sheep's clothing.  They would enter NATO to subvert it from within.  There was a worry in the US and other members that they would use their membership to obstruct NATO's plans and get the West off of its back, such as when they come to blows with countries like Ukraine, Georgia, and Japan, who are non-NATO allies of the US.  As for the EU, I don't know about that.

FazzFire What an oversimplification.  Serbia was committing genocide against Kosovo.  NATO intervention was justified.  Saudi Arabia is a complicated relationship but what they do with their money is out of the US's control.  US gives billions of dollars in aid to Pakistan every year, and the drone strikes operate with the consent of Pakistani authorities, believe it or not.  US did not start the wars in Ukraine and Syria.

  14. FazzFire Well you are wrong.  If Pakistan's government really wanted to stop the drone strikes, then they would stop giving the Americans access to their airbases, they would shoot down the drones before they launched an attack, or they would go and take care of those Taliban themselves.

SS Crimea was annexed by Russia.  Crimea may have petitioned Russia for annexation, but Russia annexed them all the same.  And really, who starts what is difficult to pin down.  I'd argue that Russia started Euromaiden, by manipulating his puppet, former president Viktor Yanukovych, to stay away from the EU, and to pull itself into Russia's sphere of influence and tyranny, against the will of the people in Ukraine.  And remember, he was legally impeached by a legitimate parliament.  And really, it doesn't matter if the US started it all.  Russia doesn't have a leg to stand on.  It's a poor and corrupt tyranny with fewer and weaker civil rights.  The world would be better off if Russia would Westernize and until then, they have chosen to be the enemies of freedom and liberty.

Therefore whenever there is conflict between Russia and the West, Russia doesn't have a leg to stand on and it deserves to fail.  Ukraine is basically a Western or Westernized country, so I support Ukraine against Russia.

  23. ***** No country in NATO is a US puppet.  Look at the Iraq War.  Strong NATO members like Germany and France refused to participate.  US also does not bully or extort its allies.  Being Western is more than just about money though, it's also about having a strong democracy and civil liberties.  US has it, Russia and China do not.  Ukraine is somewhere in the middle, but it is closer to the US than Russia, and is moving in that direction, NATO or no NATO.  Joining NATO however, will protect Ukraine from Russian aggression.

  29. ***** Putin is using nationalism and rhetoric to fan the flames and start a war in Ukraine where none existed.  Thousands have died on both sides, in a war that he and his cronies initiated.  He gave heavy weapons and vehicles to reckless and impulsive rebels, and now with Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, the world has seen the consequence of such reckless abandon.
