@RainmanRaysRepairs At least the regulators in a GM alternator are Super Easy to change out (barely and inconvenience!).
1
I've got Ray down for 3-4 months in the office pool for the doors of death!
1
Can I get 'Everything's a hammer' on a t-shirt? (Maybe with an image of Donald Trump's head...)
1
I've always called those the cabinet of goodies! Technically speaking chemical storage, but that's boring...

In all fairness, engineers are quite often painted into a corner as service techs DON'T have to deal with BS on the corporate level. Engineers have a specific job to do within a specific amount of time with heavy penalties for missing deadlines. When a service tech goes over the time limit, worst case scenario, they're working Pro bono for any time past flat-rate & the customer MIGHT be miffed depending on how understanding the customer is on a personal level. When an engineer fails to meet their deadlines, they are hurting the entire corporation as opposed to inconveniencing a few individuals on a personal level. Quite often, they are simply doing the best they can with what they have.
1
@terminallygray Well yeah, that too!🤣

There's a reason Ford is a four letter F-word....
1
5.4 liter, 3 valve; some guys have started calling it the 'The Final countdown' motor.... It's only a matter of time before it grenades itself. 5.4.3.2.1....
1
Pro tip on the oil filter: Next time just hammer a punch or narrow chisel through the oil filter and use that as a T-bar to loosen the filter. I had to do that all the time back in the day while working at Grease Monkey.
1
Definitely a rookie mistake, but one anyone could have made early enough in their career. This is definitely something Ray would catch if Troy were to do it which is what makes him such a good teacher.
1
A holy light shines down on the wrench as an angelic choir plays in the background In 25 years of turning wrenches, I think I've only ever done that twice in my lifetime and both times was a miracle in and of itself!
1
"Ramming Speed!" (SO much double entendre!) If I didn't know him so well, I'd swear he was doing it on purpose...
1
Forgive me for pointing out the obvious, but, where did the intake temp sensor go on the LAST mustang??? (Nutshell = Someone moved it & forgot to plug the hole)
1
Pro-tip: When using the air hammer on the knuckle, put the ball-peen behind the knuckle itself because when you're hammering on it, there's nothing behind it to deal with Newton's 3rd law. tl;dr = This will use the natural taper of the ball joint itself to press and squeeze it loose. It doesn't always work, but it definitely helps.

Ray's going Doodily do and new fans are like 'Has Ray lost his mind?' Well, no more than usual... 🤣🤣🤣 Also, the doodily dos are the phone ringer from the shop he used to work at and you can check out his older vids to see what we mean.
1
"We're here to fix cars, not make fun of them..." I don't see why we can't do both!🤣🤣🤣 Hey, a little light roasting on occasion is fun, and sometimes warranted! (Lord knows, the owner probably has plenty of choice words of their own...)
1
@Mike S Oh yeah, Bosch does a lot of OEM stuff.
1
Beeteedubs: I miss the doodily does, but the wife unit does a great impression.

When I was working for a trucking company, they did much the same thing with our fueling. When the OTR rigs were in town, they'd fill up at the local Mile High Frozen Foods yards which had a relatively small island. Quite often businesses and government agencies will do this as they are able to get the fuel at a cheaper rate by sub-contracting their fuel demands to a local yard/company that has their own equipment. I am a bit surprised they don't have their own fueling station, but is also quite possible the dump is closer to that one firehouse than the city's refueling center and is more cost effective.
1
Hey Ray, watch out for that speed bump! "You mean smart car?" That's what I said, speed bump! Weren't you listening?
1
Saw a camshaft on a Honda do that once so it DOES happen from time to time. Strangest thing I ever saw, and best I could find info wise is that it's a freak occurrence that has odds in the 1 in 100 million range. A lot of guys can go their whole career without ever seeing one. Still not sure what causes it and best anyone can figure is tiny imperfections in the manufacturing process that can go a hundred thousand miles or more before sheering off decades later.
1
Ya DEFINITELY gottah buy this thing, Ray! The novelty alone is invaluable on Youtube!!!
1
Left...LEFT! Your other left! I only have three lefts, make up your mind.
1
I got a package from Ray, YAY! Buuuuut, now I'm being investigated by the F.B.I.
1
Lipstick on a pig? I wouldn't go that far; it's an insult to the pig! 🤣🤣🤣
1
I think Ray used up all his luck getting the truck back into the parking lot. But when you can actually SEE the runout like that....
1
Can you do something about the lug nuts on the lift arm??? My OCD is NOT happy.... I know the shop being a mess is part of the territory, but that one thing just bugs me!
1
Ray more or less went REEEE the first time around at the cheap part and saw this coming!!!
1
I believe he said something to the tune of 'Cheap Chineseium junk' (paraphrasing here)
1
GOOD LORD MAN!!! Too much chlorine in THAT Gene pool....
1
And to think, it all started with "I put Rancho shocks on my truck, you said I wouldn't like them and I didn't..."
1
You should swap the lifts and put the heavy duty lift straight in and the car lift off to the side.
1
W/ jobs like this, it's not about where/when you lose your 10mm, it's a question of how many of them you misplace while working.
1
6:15 ~ Definitely NOT a hammer! 🤣🤣🤣
1
Time to go get some moar coffee, Ray!
1
REEEEEEEEEEE, CLEAN YOUR SCANTOOL SCREEN, REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
1
"Shut UP Bird [Twitter]!!!!" ....I.....don't see that happening.....
1
@heckelphon Bailing wire has existed longer...
1
@heckelphon Also missing the point here. Ray could just as easily use all hand tools, but prefers power tools because modern invention is better!
1
@heckelphon As a matter of fact, if you go back far enough in human history, the IDEA of the zip tie has existed for thousands of years. tl;dr = Ray don't have no excuse here...
1
@heckelphon That is one of the reasons he's so entertaining!
1
We always called the 'kill people bolt' the 'Jesus bolt' instead because if it pops loose, you might as well start praying to him because not even God could help you then!
1
Boxer motors on a roo are super easy to pull; barely an inconvenience!
1
@theodorgiosan2570 If anything, it's easier on the newer ones. Did a clutch on a '97 last year and it went smooth as silk!
1
"Put it in four low" It's a Ray wheel drive welding cart.
1
Pure communism, on paper, does work. Problem is, no such animal exists RL because it winds up becoming a capitalist socialism based dictatorship DISGUISED as communism, and is the easiest form of government for it's leaders to exploit.
1
Rainman Ray: Propping up the Brake Cleaner industry for over 20 years!
1
He meant to say 'Jokeswagon Passit'
1
LAST TIME on RainmanBall Z!!! (Seriously, some of these repairs are getting redonkulously long...)
1
Okay, why do you have a wheel weight hammer when you don't even have a tire balancing machine??? Waaaaaita minute.....Have you been holding out on us Ray???
