  1. Women told men not to approach them in public places if they don't know them. There is now a push for new laws to deal with unwanted communication and attention from men both online and in real life. Police are now being stationed in nightclubs and online dating apps will have a legal duty to protect women's safety from said behaviour. That's why men are not approaching women. One person feeling offended or the "ick" could destroy a man's life. Never used to be the case.

  7. I think most people consider both taboo and weird. Most people meet in what is considered warm approach environments and in particular, closed social groups. I personally believe that the loneliness crisis we have are people who lack a closed social group to be a part of and subsequently base their assumptions entirely on online dating. Noting from a recent study, someone (retweeted by Alex) calculated the percentage of single people using online dating is only nine per cent. That's not a typo, that is nine per cent. Meaning ninety one percent did not use online dating.

  9. Rejection increasingly comes with consequences. Back in the 90s or 00s or even 10s, approaching someone and being rejected would result in brief awkwardness and in the worst case scenario, a drink down your shirt and embarassment in that moment. We are now in the 20s. There are increasing calls for unwanted attention and behaviour - ie. rejection, to be criminalised. Police in the UK are being posted to bars and nightclubs to weed unwanted behaviour from those establishments. Cold-approaching women in Scotland in a public place is now a criminal offence. If the Police take action, you have a criminal record. You lose your job, your family, your friends, your respect, your home, your social status. Everything. And if its reported in the local press, future employers who screen candidates will reject you. Tinder adjusts your visibility based on rejection effectively shadowbanning you because they want the platform to provide the best men to women in order to be profitable. Rejection now carries consequences, potentially life long consequences.

  11. Nice guys don't finish last. They don't finish. Plenty of examples in video and comment form on this site where men were given good faith advice to be nice to women by family and peers, did so in their twenties, failed, realised it was bad advice and now face their 30's and beyond alone, no chance of finding someone regardless of self-improvement and physical fitness. Because they missed the boat and now face climbing a mountain to find a stable partner and a cliff if they want their own children.

Something I've found is that those women who want long term relationships are in them and the single women today do not want relationships, regardless of circumstance or background - unless he his top tier in looks, status and money. They want lifestyle sponsors for attention, validation, experiences and money. This leaves a lot of men out of the dating market and is likely one of the causes of both the loneliness epidemic and declining birth rates (lets see if YouTube shadowbans or deletes this comment).

  13. The problem is, changing the dynamics of modern day dating, in particular online dating which is becoming the only game in town for most people, is not a financially sound strategy. Why would a free dating app change its strategy to ensure people pair off into successful, long-term relationships? They have a vested interest to keep unattractive men shadowbanned or paying highly for subscriptions whilst encouraging attractive men and women to join to add value to their service but not to the point where they won't need the app ever again. This is why matchmaking services charge thousands for each client - if they do their job correctly, they only ever need to do that job once!

Politicians wanting their votes and keen to be seen as protecting women's safety are now crafting or implementing new laws and enforcing existing laws.

Because at this point, the definition has been extrapolated to include single men who don't have a partner and the word has been overused to be neutered. It's frustrating that the second someone is failing or struggling in life, the self-help gurus, coaches and commentators who normally acknowledge the importance of genetics suddenly go full "blank slate" in their advice and believe that hard work will reverse genetics and equalise individuals. It sadly won't. This is to society today what Galileo's championing of Copernican heliocentrism was back in his day.

  23. Humans naturally are a polygnyous species where children were raised in an alloparenting structure. 80% of women passed on their genes compared to 40% of men throughout history. Monogamy is a relatively novel concept which occurred as we developed civilisation, farming, manufacturing and physical labour. Now with sexual liberation, the birth control pill and the recent data on online dating, we seem to be slowly reverting back to being a polygnyous species where a small percentile of men get everything and most men get nothing while children are raised collectively by the state. We're still mostly monogamous (70-80% of people are in committed one-to-one relationships) but it's slowly starting to change.

While you'll be told that it gets easy and you'll have the pick of all the women once you are 35, in reality, it doesn't get easier unless you are the top 0.0001% of men who can date 21 year olds in your middle age without stigma or condemnation. From my own experience, things got worse as I got older and I quit dating as I approached my middle age and I don't regret it.

  28.  @Beeti1  The creepiness is when the man makes the approach and fails to mind read that his approach will be rejected. It is not just the prospect of not taking no for an answer, it's making the initial approach in the first place. That is deemed offensive, hits self-esteem, has a woman question her worth and causes offence, creepiness and the "ick". That is why women are telling men not to approach women, not merely telling men to take no for an answer.

  29.  @MRFLOPPYmr  I only speak from my own anecdotes but the idea that all men who hit 35 can date 21 year olds as we keep being told by the manosphere does not correlate with what I see in reality. I do know of one age gap relationship where the man in over 15 years older but that's the exception rather than the rule and he is in a high paid job.

  30. 40-60% of relationships start online. But that doesn't mean they're starting through dating apps. I'd wager that the majority of relationships that start from the online sphere do so from closed social groups such as group or gaming chats or via social media. From what I understand, only 9% of single people have used a dating app this year and over the whole history of dating apps, only 30% of singles. Surprised me too.

Scotland has jailed pick-up artists. You don't tend to allow such individuals to have the right to freedom and liberty - you jail and rehabilitate.

Personality traits = 50% inherited but the dark triad traits that women seek out in potential partners is predominately genetic.   36. How do you fix your height, physical appearance and cure autism? Where in the gym can I find the equipment to grow to six feet? How can a gym fix someone's disfigurement or disability? How does touching grass cure autism and introversion (both genetic personality traits)? This is the problem with the self-help, blank slate mentality, the perception that everything can be fixed.

Once you hit your 30's onward, it gets much harder as more and more people form long term relationships and socialise in closed social groups. One of the big challenges with the loneliness crisis is going to be with middle aged and older individuals. And particularly so if you don't use dating apps and social media as they've effectively become the de-facto standard for dating and socialising now.

  41. Not a lot of optimism for men who are not at the peak of attractiveness and social status. The advice (or false hope if you're being less charitable) given to them is asinine and guaranteed to fail. Telling such men to "do better" won't improve their genetics, half their inherited personality traits or raise their height. It's like scalding the local Sunday football league team for not improving to the point where they can be playing at the level of Arsenal, Manchester City or Real Madrid in a weeks time.

  42. It's not sperm quality that exclusively defines that its over for men. It's lack of experience and achievement by their 30s and beyond which leads to someone who is clueless about dating and relationships or in a low social/financial status or extended adolesence. Women have a biological clock, men have an experience clock. Young women need to be told about the consequence of delaying having children and men need to be told about the consequence of delaying finding a partner which so many influencers and commentators keep pedalling.

  43. I find that when it comes to shaming, scalding and putting men down, it is particularly aimed at unattractive men and those who are not succeeding in life. And not just from feminists, but in the mainstream media and even mainstream thinking. It is now feeding into demands for new laws and company policies. You never see celebrities, CEOs and famous men being shamed for being men.

I wonder if a lot of the information that is presented online as representative about singledom and dating today is coming from a very small percentage of outspoken and unsociable single people and that most single people in mainstream society would never recognise what is being reported by commentators online. A lot of the recent scientific data from evolutionary psychology is at odds with what is being stated as true on YouTube and social media bachelor channels today.

  49. Men feel the same way too as whilst there is a ongoing push for body positivity for women, there isn't for men. The only acceptable body figure in mass media, literature and imagery is a man with a six pack, abs and strong frame. It could well be fuelling body dysmorphia and hopelessness somewhat in men.
