@vectravi2008 You don't entirely, but you can still levy tariffs on what is declared. Do you really think that major companies are going to risk shipping undeclared goods? There are some checks and the fines and loss of reputation for being caught breaching the rules will be huge.
1
@vectravi2008 Politics vs business.
1
@vectravi2008 But this story is about politics. If the EU imposes sanctions, the UK will retaliate. Which is where we came in.
1
@vectravi2008 Article 16 is part of the deal and can be triggered by either side.
1
@Mike Mongrel Yes I am in the UK and those guys saved the lives of a lot of our servicemen and women through the intelligence they were able to gleane.
1
@markhedger6378 They still put their lives at risk to help our people.
1
@Mike Mongrel Who cares if we made an agreement beforehand? We as a nation have a choice, get them out or leave them at the mercy (read knife) of the Taliban?
1
@lexx8115 Says a lot about your morals.
1
@lexx8115 I was talking about the Afghans who worked for us NOT illegals. See my comment thread for my views on illegals.
1
@lexx8115 Because they served on our side and helped prevent even more loss of life and injuries to our service personnel. The Yanks can look after the ones who served alongside them.
1
@lexx8115 We can, but we choose not to.
1
@lexx8115 As I have said several times now, my original comment relates to the Afghani's who worked in support of our troops. They supported our forces in the hope that we would deliver a better future for the Afghan people. We failed them. It is our moral duty to look after those who came to our aid and who now face death in the most barbaric fashion.

@stephenhaywood5672 Probably Australia
1
@stephenhaywood5672 Well there has certainly been little planning over the years. Most of our current coal imports are from Russia, Columbia, USA, "Rest of the world" and Australia. Of course if we had been sensible and not listened to the greens, we could be producing 40+ percent of our energy from nuclear. I base that on continuous replacement of the eleven Magnox reactors we used to run with eleven of equivalent power to Sizewell B.

@rogerwoodhouse7945 The "Anti-Islam party?"
1
@rogerwoodhouse7945 My original comment was not aimed at you. If you chose to butt in then don't complain if you don't like my response.
1
@rogerwoodhouse7945 No I did not, my original comment was a response to Tony Sheerness. You chose to put forward the name of Anne Marie Waters and I Googled her to see what her policies were. The first item to pop up was her founding of the Anti Islam party. My "Issue" is with anyone who would found a political party based on the negative stereotyping of a religious group. You may remember that there is a rather well known precedent for mistrusting the motives of individuals of that type?
1
No, it was a protectionist measure to help EU wine producers
1
@andrew30m Especially by people like you who stereotype groups based on your own prejudices.
1
@andrew30m I have seen Millwall fans behaving disgracefully, it doesn't mean all Millwall fans behave that way. Neither is every person who supported Brexit a xenophobe. What would your response be if I labelled all Muslims potential terrorists? You would call me a racist.
1
I would be happy to pay for a license if the BBC were not so biased against the country that funds it. Still has the best news coverage, but terribly biased presenters.
1
If you call doubling the number of funerals as a minimum better.
1
@timhull8664 Self, self. Sums you up.
1
@chriswilson8734 Not true i'm afraid. Firstly, the vaccines are not one hundred percent effective, there will always be a small minority of vulnerable people. Secondly and more importantly, the mass of unvaccinated people are breeding grounds for new variants of the virus which may be vaccine resistant.
1
@rejointheeu1779 How about the average 30% above EU rates who have been vaccinated against covid?
1
You could have stopped at desperate.
1
Could Starmer be the new Kinnock? Both suffered following on from hard left leaders.
1
I don't blame the French, I blame our government. As long as people believe that they only have to make it here to be assured residence they will keep coming. We should make it clear that if you want to come to this country you apply for residence. If you enter illegally then you are automatically disqualified.
1
@thomastuchel2077 Why do we need that police access so much? Because of the EU free movement policy allows criminals and terrorists to enter the soft underbelly and transit throughout the union.
1
How is reporting someone's words lying?
1
@sandyfraser131 Ah.
1
@lisahughes5319 Yep. Subsume the allowance into the basic wage then set up a system to "Raise the living standards" of new, younger employees. Result, pay increases for new staff on lower wages, pay freeze for older staff with artificially high wages.
1
I don't know, the Chileans produce some cracking reds.

JJ MAIN MAN Click on the three dots (top right corner) and you have two options. 1 Increase zoom beyond 100% to magnify the whole page. 2 click on settings, appearance then change your font size to "Very large".
1
@rogernewton7831 The government don't own anything, the nation does.
1
I am not convinced that this is a "political" objective; the BBC could be pretty scathing towards Labour and Corbyn in particular. I believe it has more to do with BBC journalists engaging in self promotion and attempting to make, rather than report, the news.

If they have fishing rights show us the evidence and they can carry on fishing. Not a lot to ask is it?
