As christianity slowly fell out of favor in the west, so was it replaced not by studying science and critical thinking as many hoped, but just a number of other belief systems that functions as religions...
101
Yes. many such examples in the west. Except, they most often dont even make a comment about it.

@haven216 Yes, I know. But laws are only words on paper. They are useless unless someone is charged and convicted. Do you believe this will be the case, and that this will affect this person? I certainly dont. Because those that have the authority to do so dont share your morals. Not at all. Thats why I wrote what I did. Nothing personal to your post, mind you. The majority of people dont fully understand how much US as a society has diversed in its cultural and moral standards the last 30-40 years.
45
@Blisterdude123 Ever heard of a presidential run? I doubt there is anyone who hasnt done it this side of the turn of the 18th century.... i.e its par for the course.
39
You are assuming he dont. 4d chess bro.. This is what he wants us to see..whats he really hiding???.. Wraps tinfoil tighter around head
35
@jstandards766 Nah, hes not wrong at all, in the post as its written. So how did he drink the "cool aid"? It was a reasonable post. Seems more than likely you are the one not knowing, just plain misreading, or having an agenda, which seems more "cringe" to me...
34
Cant hate the player.... only the game.
28
@Nick_MG My tradition and belief is that I should do whatever I want, and If anyone tells me different its offensive and disrespectful to my religion. You dont want to disrepect and offend me and my religion, right? Now what?
24
Never was, my dude, never was... Just a lofty utopian ideal.
23
@wgcdrelliot8989 If you think about it a bit more, its not weird, since the category of "oppressors" makes no sense to begin with. Its a simple sleight of hand that is taken seriously only by the literally "low cognitive ability"
20
That comment was a little bit TOO based...
18
Well it is what it is.... cliche but true. Swedes have had the opportunity to vote against this, too few have.
17
@yt_nh9347 The virtue of disavowing what your leaders say you should. Showing loyalty and fealty. By public disapproval of a person ones leaders have told you is "bad". Its conceptually exactly the same as with Christians and the devil, or Judas. Not really that hard to grasp, is it? Do you even know what concepts are or did you just learn about them?
16
Is it though? Maybe she is more self aware than you. You think there could be a downside to this, whilst there is a very real possibility there could be only upsides for her, saying what she did. Different people have very different moral standards and you presumably dont interact with her in any meaningful way. Nor does anyonee else that find what she said offensive. This overconfidence and blindspot in that "our" moral standards still hold true in all cases across the country is what got us here.
13
Your "whats real and whats not" detector needs to be recalibrated... you got your "never", "most", "small percentage" wrong. Not saying its a good thing, but it is what it is, and it is real.
9
@idofx8722 I would say its not only possible, its all but a certainty the output suffers. That doesnt mean it affects her though. In fact, I find it unlikely. Same with your second concern. The ones "higher up" have so far signed off on this, and I find it likely she is a diversity hire herself. Its doubtful this will change.
8
Me too and I am not even American!
7
@Purriah Hmmm. maybe. Not sure about that statistic (Most are pdf etc), but I suppose its possible. What I can say is that I, as a libertarian (a real one, not fake) is one arguing for it because of free speech/expression/whatever. But true libertarians seems very rare, so yeah. I cant say you are wrong.
7
The "social skills and likeability" stat has always been extremely OP. Devs should have nerfed it if they cared about balance.
6
@refugeehugsforfree4151 They are the definition of underpriced, actually. i.e sold below cost to manufacture for the longest time, and even today with the price cut sold at margins most outher auto manufacturers cant afford. The words you are looking for are "Too expensive for my wallet/taste" which might be true, but its not "overpriced". Its a common "mistake" for people to willfully mix these things up these days.
6
@Blisterdude123 Well, yes and no. A big chunk comes from people that think they will get something in return. In this specific case, Trump is the best "low tax" candidate you are going to get, for example. So it might make sense to sponsor him when all checks and balances are done. In any case, the whole political system looking and working as it does, and this being accepted, is a magnitude more embarrassing for the avarage vote anyway on an intellectual level.
5
Yeah, some people did say that, didnt they? I wonder if anyone outside their own bubble ever bought it?
5
@ClockworkBees The point is humans are genetically pre-programmed to find competing and combat interesting. Sports fills that niche for men, and soap operas/dramas for women (Because thats how women fight and compete).
5
@corvus8638 Well everyone who likes the US laws being followed does, obviously he is one. I take it you dont, i.e you dont care about justice or equal treatment. Fair enough, everyone has got their ideology, just dont pretend you care about human rights or anything like that in the future.
5
Props for using "new" battlestar galactica as the example of this, instead of the CSI one every one else knows and does.
5
@JodieMartins Sometimes kids have to be told "No", even if they are rolling on the floor crying their eyes out because they want to have a toy at the store. This is much the same, but with WAY higher stakes. According to Special Counsel and what this represent, he should have already been removed from position by virtue of 25th amendment.
5
@supremecaffeine2633 One can argue that to be true, but then question the rears its head: In a modern usage of the terms, what exactly is a "progessive" and "conservative"? What makes them so? And do they hold any values that are constant over time, a core of ideology? I think you will find those questions very difficult to answer, making that viewpoint of "left and right" all but a useless distinction. Thats why the economical/state power scale the poster above suggested makes more sense to many people that have thought about the terms for a long time.
4
@TheWorldsprayer You might want to read my second post, it adresses what you wrote.
4
You know, in comparison to most people in a similar position, I kind of am glad its that dude actually. Think about it.
4
@Nick_MG Not just thought, I literally did. I take it you wont have any further comment on the issue anywhere, since you wont want to disrespect people? Because you arent a hypocrite, are you? Btw, a little bonus: There are literally people that find the notion of you even existing offensive. If you should take it upon yourself to appease them, I hope any close relatives or loved ones of yours etc wont be to upset that you have left this realm. It was for a good cause, after all.

@bencastor9207 Its obviously fake to those that got good reading comprehension because its so cartooonishly exaggerated. She didnt say anything that was close to this before. Its like sharing too much info without anyone asking, thus incriminating yourself. "Oh by the way, if you wonder, I certainly didnt steal your car yesterday and crash it into a house across the street, if anyone tells you so thats just all lies" The text could only be generated by a literal moron with a lot of mental issues or a cartooon villain. She is neither, shes just a run of the mill ordinary woman (mentally) who got lucky.

Its a gallows humor kind of thing.

@Jarekx2007 I am sorry to have to tell you this but the DBZ dub (havent watched Yu Yu) is actually inferior to the original, and by a considerable margin. Now, I have heard other people say the same, and I can only assume its either the nostalgia speaking, or the fact that you innately get more of a connection when its spoken in a language you fully understand, thus making you feel its "better" as long as it isnt atrocious. But objectively (if you watched both as a bilingual adult), it would be easy to see that the dub is worse in the acting and tone.
3
@Jarekx2007 They are great actually, for what the set out do do and the source material. Its originally not a super hero story or something like that after all, but a gag manga very loosely based on "Journey to the west". When the story pivoted to more fighting based, they still did a great job. As I said, you can prefer it for some reasons, and I guess also for how they change the story tone, but in acting and adaptation its no doubt the original is superior.
3
@billbradley4878 I mean circumstances in the overarching legal progression and negative effects way, not in the "evidence" way. I am not, to the best of my ability, using legal terms, but general ones. To simplify, there are at least 4 discrete steps. All of which are unlikely, bringing the total combination to "extremely unlikely". That is the point I was making.
3
@idofx8722 I certainly hope you are correct in what you say shall come to pass. But I very much doubt it. For now, I have seen too much to conclude otherwise.
3
@PaulGuy Who said anything else? Considering you are tagging me, you might want to read my posts again, because I certainly didnt.
3
@brammadan Did you really think about it, though? If you did, then I can only assume you are a bit naive about humans in general and the very rich specifically. Have you heard about the now deceased "Mr steins" island and the people the visited it? And thats truly chump change compared to whats really going on... surely you arent saying faking some gaming progress is worse?
3
@TheRacingJoker Its nothing new (muscle cars often had questionable drum brakes, dont get me started on the chassies dynamics) and the vaaast majority of customers dont care. There are lots of other examples throughout every decade. I will explain what I meant some more: Its a common car enthusiast fallacy to think every or even most car thats fast is driven by people that are going to go fast or even care about it. This is very far from the truth. Most are bought by affluent people wishing to show off. Most Ferraris see an average lifetime speed of lower than almost every other car on the road, courtesy of their owners being mostly in big congested cities crawling between the stoplights down to the cafe. Tesla Plaid is even worse in that regard. The car is too heavy to keep its tires alive during tracking, and the battery runs out very fast if you use the power. Most customers crawl around L.A and get up to 10 above the speed limit on an on ramp or between stop lights. Thats it. The standard brakes are more than good enough for them. Battery techinology is not at the point were tracking a Plaid is anything more than a meme, done by auto testers/youtubers to make a fun video. "No one" does it seriously in the real world.

@andregon4366 I somewhat agree, however its very possible to be religious without subscribing to dogma, nor forcing others to obey it. Just so happens some of the largest religions are the ones that take a keen interest in people doing just that. A pity, really.
3
How are you going to deal with it though, except having you monitored 24/7? Stricter food regulations? Sure it might work in some regards but... Even in other countries there are pretty large people, odds are they would be there as well. Its the mentally unwell that get to this point...

"it is what it is"

"Since I give them money they are my friend/girlfriend"

@bud389 Sorry, I am not sure what exactly you are replying to here. There are so many other factors at play, the two "accomplishments" of moon trips vs knowing country names have almost nothing in common at all. Surely you also know this, I am sure you are at least a reasonably smart person. Which brings me back to my observation of your comment not being so much driven by comparisons, as it was by a bit of spite. I get it, its not nice to hear. But in this case, the stereotype is warranted. I really wish people would divorce themselves from any collective like this and not take thins so personally, especially since nobody is saying it includes every single person of that collective, which I am sure you also know, deep down.
2
SOP for many, many countries around the world.

I dont need nor want an Iphone. But 800 bucks isnt much these days. And look up how much top of the line phones were ages ago, when all they could do was call ans send sms. A Nokia 8850/8890 was 1000+ dollars, 25 years ago already. And earlier than that they were even more expensive. Nokia communicator "smartphone" from the 90s etc
2
It is indeed hilarious, but I have to, in a friendly way mind you, ask where you have been thus far, because not only have they openly supported it for many decades by now, they are openly proud of doing so. "Affirmative action" etc. Even the supreme court kind of signed off on it.
2
@Owen2108 Its a niche interest, like everything else. Your and other posts seem to imply something else ("not a fool", etc), when this is what it is in reality. This is where your reasoning goes wrong. Classic case of cultural bias, but I find it a bit ironic that people that have "read a lot" dont recognise that fact.
2
@billbradley4878 I took all that into account when writing my first post. As I allude to in my second post, and as you write, it needs a combination of circumstances to progress legally. All of which I consider unlikely. Taken as a whole progression, I find any verdict that will effect her personally extremely unlikely. Hence the assumption this virtue signaling might very well be an overall net benefit for her.
2
@idofx8722 Absolutely that is true. As for now, I find it unlikely this specific matter/video will find any real world traction or effect of note. Sadly. Which, again, is why I made my first post.
