  7.  @ReaperSymbiote  I just gave the reason why kids think its "cool", answering the OP question. Havent mentioned anything else. The recent "uptick" is mostly because social media gives a larger platform, increasing the reward/risk ratio for the kids.

  16.  @Youareyourcoupons1  You actually got that backwards regarding society: Trends like these and "teenage rebellion" is only deemed acceptable in places where things are very easy and people are rich, relatively speaking. In the old days, and still today in the poorer part of the world, there is no time for stuff like this, you are working 12 hour shifts in the fields or factory already from a pre teen age. So stuff like this only proves what an abundance of wealth there is compared to that.

However I am going to be real with you, dont feel bad, its not in any way an attack on you, just a note on what could be seen from the start by other people: -She didnt seem real in regards to those remarks, for people with a good B.S meter or that have experience with her personality type. In fact, I watched the clip videos of a good chunk of that stream, and I laughed out loud when she said "you built this empire on my body" to her BF on the phone. Obvious B.S. (to me) -The "entire internet" wasnt on her side.... I mean the internet is a big place to start with. I get what you mean, you mean high profile people were on her side, but you got to consider those people are either very often not experienced in dealing with B.S like this (like charlie isnt) or they knew but just pretended they got taken in because it was good content and good PR for them "standing up for an abused woman". Personally, I fully expected it, the views and cash got to flow. This is just the easiest way.

  33. TBH seems like the word "scam" lost most of its meaning. Seem like they sell exactly what the customers want, what it says on the box, for a price they are willing to pay? Thats not a scam. It can be argued its overpriced of course, but nobody (except their own need to be "cool") is forcing them to buy it. Hate the game, not the player.

  34.  @ChristmasLore  Ever had a youtube comment removed? I have, and we are talking about ones not even using any negative words, or in any way controversial language. What you can and cant write also changes at a moments notice, and I bet good money their algorithm also takes into account context, as well as numerous other factors these days. So no, its not for sure he can write it without the comment getting removed.

If it was about verifying people are genuine, how is it possible to lose your verification for going against twitters undisclosed guidelines (not impersonating someone else). Makes no sense. Since they removed the checkmark from people that twitter "dont like", that only leaves the explanation that the ones who get it and still have it, are endorsed by twitter. In twitters TOS, it says "Twitter may remove the Verified status of an account at any time without notice", not just for impersonating others. Q E D.

  38. Yeah, there are reasons you would potentially "fake it". Charlie just didnt think quite far enough, and got a bit heated. It happens, he is just a bit naive about how the world works sometimes thats all. Not saying I belive its necessarily fake, but if you for example wanted to retire and the credibly be able to disawov your public career until now, this would be a great way to do it. So yes, there could potentially be reasons for doing it this way.

  40. Yeah, they are not meant to be funny (or even "pranks") in the first place, so that realizaation already happened from the start, and wont change anything. Its about the attention for the streamer, and wishing it was them for the watcher.

  41.  @peger  Well, as I said above, even if they (the 11 year olds) are laughing, its not because they are having fun. Its much more insidious than that. They are watching because this is wish fulfillment for them. They feel better imagining it was them (by proxy) who got the attention and power. They, in effect, get to feel the some of the satisfaction of being a bully through their screen, without having to do anything themselves.

  42.  @peger  Stuff explicitly like this? If that was the case, then its quite likely it was the part of your brain that needed that "power" stimulation after all, like I wrote above. There are many reasons, lots of them subconscious, why people laugh, its rarely because something is just plain "funny" (which is very hard to quantify anyway).

But there is a rabbit hole to be followed here... What does "funny" even mean though in practice... There really is no objective definition or hard line to distinguish it from where "interesting" or whatever ends and "funny" begins...

I fins it curios you ask for evidence, and then say I shouldnt "demonize an app that truly doesn't have that type of affect on suicide.", in the same post. The only logical conclusion is that you have already deiced the answer without wanting to hear the evidence you asked for....rendering that argument null and void: But I will answer anyway, for the ones that might be on the fence: My evidence is numerous studies and surveys as well as long personal experience with and in human psychology field. On top of that, simple statistics make anything else a virtual impossibility.
