@allangibson2408 you're right on the money here old boy, even if technically it only entered squadron service in Jan 1951 (what sort of a pillock argues the toss over a month!) You could even argue it was a 40's plane, and was only done away with when there were suitable replacements in its role, see also , Shackleton, Vulcan, B-52, F-4, Buccaneer and so on, where with avionics and weaponry updates they could still fit their design role nicely, or take on new roles like laser designation in Gulf War II etc. I think it might be truer to say that the cutting edge tech in each decade raced away from the last, but some good solid designs trundled along just nicely thank you :-)
