I actually read an article, I think it was in Meduza, that was about how pissed off those working in the media were when the russian state started to take over their independent media outlets around 2012-14. They tend to also be in the middle class educated section of society which is most anti war. The theory is that those who didnt move to Baltic countries quietly sabotage media like this with the dead looking crowd on camera.

  14. Spanish is very easy to pick up for speakers of western euro/heavily latin influenced languages. Its often said to be the easiest to learn. I wanted to do it at school but got stuck with bloody french.

I read a great book about it that empathises the real problem is the russian government throwing money at massively decreasing returns I.e exhausted soviet factories getting huge subsidies despite being technologically archaic purely because of political connections and the bad job made of developing industry in Siberia absolutely miles from anywhere and difficult to access when they should have done so in european russia instead. You have situations where co dependent industries are situated thousands of miles away from each other with really bad infrastructure. And like their military they build or develop hardly anything new, just have a plan to rely on the soviet industry forever. Alongside that massive brain drain, huge alcohol problem causing early death, bad health and unreliable workers and a massively underdevloped/undervalued creative and arts sector (which even the soviets realised was important)

Bald always been slimy and slippery, look into his background and past and decide if that's the kind of person you are cool with travelling poorer countries patronising and sexually using the locals. I did like him myself, hes pleasant enough on the surface but there was something there that made me look further (he sort of looks down on foreign people and sees their lives as a novelty, especially if it's very 'soviet').

The republicans were at various times considered the more progressive party before the 60s and the southern strategy and demographics were extremely fluid at that time. Take a look at which states belonged to which party during ww2.
