@yusdesoto3975 That's cute. But basic is just that....BASIC. You're learning basic $hit. Every soldier knows, especially combat arms, that the REAL training begins when you get to your PDS.
Also, you can't be a 'kid' to be an 18 series.
Also, if you wanna go Ranger right out of OSUT, you will have to go through the tab course, then jump school, then the selection process. You WILL be challenged. So, even if you are a 'scrawny kid', I'm pretty sure you won't be, once you've gone through the aforementioned courses. Trust me, you don't just get in.
Either way, you're making it seem as though basic is the be all, end all, like the Marines do. It's NOT! Even leg units can be (and usually are) FULL of killers. Ask me how I know.
"All the tough guys are already out or are getting ready to leave the army."
ALL? Please tell me how you know this to be a fact.
I'll wait....

@kingtiger5040
The fact that the marines opted to "get rid of their tanks" has zero to do with the army. And what exactly is "amphibious warfare", anyway? The marines are basically the navy's infantry. (Pogs notwithstanding) The marines do NOT fight on water. That's strictly navy echelon. I know it sounds bad@$$ to say "the marines are amphibious". But, the truth is, they get transportation to the battlefield, which is decidedly NOT on water. It's on LAND.
If the United States' mission (Which, BTW, is FAR more important than what the marines' self-proclamation/designation is) is to call on the army for the purpose of an 'island hopping' FTX, to ready themselves for an eventual showdown with China, let them. It can only benefit us as a WHOLE. (Something a lot of marines have trouble realizing.)
Fact is, irrespective of how bad marines claim to be, they ain't handling China's boots all by themselves. Not at a paltry 170,000 (mostly pogs) they're not. Without the army, the marines would be cooked like a brisket at a Texas BBQ. The NATION should come first. Not the branch. Especially since we ALL play for the same team. How you get to the fight is pretty much academic. It's what you are when you get there that matters. And that's infantry.

@rjkurtz Speaking of adorable....I think it's cute that you actually said that the army is peewee football's equivalent. I'm actually fighting back tears, that was so precious.
Where do you think this country would be, if the army just went away? Do you actually think that you could handle Russia, or China, or even Pakistan all by yourselves? Hahahahahahaha!!!!! I am an American citizen who gave a decade of his life to his country as an Airborne infantryman. And, despite the fact that you crayon crunching Gomers haven't the first damned CLUE what the term 'brothers in arms' means (much less respect), I won't say that that is something that I'd love to see. (You wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell, sonny boy.)
But, you'd better believe me when I tell you....that, if you take away the marines, and our boots would STILL hold their own up against any op-for's boots on the planet.
Take away the ARMY, and you'll all be in the afterlife, taking turns tugging goo out of Chesty Puller's d*ck, smearing all over your puke faces, wait for it to dry, and then peel it off and eat it like a potato chip.
Now, run along, and parade your purdy dress blues down the catwalk, and tell everyone how badass you THINK you are. While the army kicks ass just like it has in every single war since this country was still peeing the bed. 🤣

@rjkurtz Ah yes....That old uniform thing rears its head again. LOL (Yup, runway waifs parading down the catwalk...lol)
We care about keeping this country powerful, and safe, leaving the modeling to the girls.
FACT: The army implemented the camo (BDU) pattern FIRST
FACT: The army started calling cadence FIRST (Google Willie Duckworth)
FACT: The marines, to feather their caps, to facilitate promotion, go to Armor school, Jump school, Ranger school, and Pathfinder school. Name a single marine school that the army attends to feather their caps? I'll wait....
I have a funny feeling that 'dropped mic' will be picked up again.....and again......aaannd again. ;-)
"Army simply stands for Aint Ready to be a Marine Yet"
That would be ARTBAMY. Please learn what an acronym is, Gomer. LOL!
