The beauty of out constitution is that it can be changed. Please know I am NOT saying it should be, I’m with you on the 2A, but it is possible. And if you understand politics, our nation, and it’s laws, you know it possible and can see the trend towards tighter gun laws. If we can’t adapt, we CAN lose our 2a rights. Then, like Australia, if your home is invaded by gun wielding thugs, and you shoot them defending your family, you too can go to prison for longer than the home invaders. (One case the criminals got 2-3 years each, and the homeowner got 12 years.)

Steven Sweeden — Actually, there is a fair amount of evidence to suggest that 911 may have indeed been an “inside job.” Also that Iraq and Afghanistan were chosen because we needed to be at war to allow government spending to exceed budget, and they were plausible scapegoats the public would accept.

What I meant was that Reagan signed a law that limited spending if the budget wasn’t balanced with one big caveat; “EXCEPT DURING TIMES OF WAR.” Bush 1 struggled with it, Clinton did balance the budget 2 years by moving major expenses to the following year... which I’m sure you remember the big raises congressmen and senators got, the first in a decade. Then came Bush 2, started with a 2 billion budget surplus and reduced taxes 2 billion and gave a 2 billion tax rebate to everyone. Then he said “ohh darn,” when he realized the effects of Reagan’s Bill. Then 911 “happened” and we’ve been at a War on Terror” ever since. We attacked Iraq and Afghanistan under pretense of WMD’s that were never found, and now we know 911 was funded by Pakistan, trained by Pakistani military on Saudi soil with a Saudi assistance and knowledge. Then we passed a law prohibiting US citizens for suing foreign countries for acts of terrorism. There are other things also that all point to the possibility that 911 wasn’t what it seemed. We may never ever know the truth, all I know it that it all stinks.

I’m guessing you’re a trumpet, a climate change denier. Think of it this way, true, false, cause unknown, doesn’t matter. If this visible verifiable change is not actually happening, we can take action and help prepare or prevent or do nothing, and life goes on. If it worsens, and we are prepared or can prevent it, our children survive. If it worsens and we continue our denial, and do nothing, it could be an extinction level event. Think about that please. Deny it, do nothing, die... or take precautions and survive. The choice is ours.

Another interesting thing is the common misconception that the civil war was about slavery, when it was really about states rights to govern independently without federal control. While it’s wonderful the civil war freed the slaves, that wasn’t Lincoln’s interest or intent. It was never on the agenda or in his mind until the south started forcing slaves to fight. Lincoln freed the slaves, the emancipation proclamation, to get black union soldiers to defect to the north towards freedom, i.e. it was a tactic to help win the war.

He was speaking of their entire stance, their positions, values, changing so that Democrats absorbed the Republican mission statement and vice versa.
