Then as police arrive, she attacks you again with the knife. You say knife vs. gun is so unfair! The police should have disarmed her, tried to deescalate the situation with kind words, as you are stabbed repeatedly. I say life isn’t fair. If you bring a knife to a gun fight, that’s Darwin’s theory at work.

  4. Canine University 101 — I hope not, I need someone to vote for. But with every mass shooting, and with the NRA and other 2nd amendment supporters fighting EVERY gun control or tracking measure... Eventually public opinion will shift enough that lawmakers will rewrite the 2nd amendment.

  5. Chavvy — Yeah... the old "you can pry my gun from my cold dead hands" response. Do you really think that not too sane sounding response is going to serve to support responsible gun ownership? What I mean is for example we know that 90% of the guns used in mass shootings come from 2 sources, 1. Private gun sales like flea markets, garage sales and the like. 2. Stolen from a friend, neighbor or relative that owns a weapons that they know is kept unsecured. All efforts to track all gun sales, bit new AND USED are fought tooth and nail. All efforts to require weapons not on your person to be secured are also fought tooth and nail. Think please, a few elections back what were the candidates opinions on gun control? Now damn near every candidate has a plan. Why? Reactionary politics. It WILL reach a point where some bozo candidate runs and gets enough votes because he supports gun control and people want an end to the killing. We aren’t there yet, but with every shooting we edge closer to that point. The constitution is a malleable document. It has been modified, it can be changed. If it ever happens it will be because WE, ALL of us failed to make any compromises.

  6. The Bear Hombre — You know the term "Assault Rifle" is used to describe any military ‘looking’ rifle, right? Military rifles have a full auto setting and are illegal to own without a special license and always have been. High capacity magazines have been outlawed in states like California with little effect on mass shootings. Why? Because anyone who wants to can train (practice) to swap a magazine out in about a second. So if someone takes a gun and 5 magazines he is equal to a similar gun with a 30 round magazine. Not so humorously several gun models that came with high capacity magazines that were banned in California are now sold with several limited capacity magazines. Not joking. That’s the reason the ban was overturned, it was futile. Want to make a difference? We know where 90% of the weapons used in mass shootings come from, help close those loopholes. We must do SOMETHING to effect positive change or we don’t deserve to be allowed to be armed at all.

However there have been multiple studies that have shown democrats are on average more educated than republicans. Note educated not necessarily smarter. Case in point a Republican congressman recently stated on a radio show that for the Republican Party to continue to grow and succeed they must FIGHT to make higher education harder to obtain. Why, they know a less educated populace make more Republicans. Not joking.
