Levenson 2 is needed! Stop foreign ownership of UK media.

Brexit - like setting fire to your house then saying it is better living in a caravan or a tent.

The standards at the BBC have been falling for years, from "balance", shifting towards celebrity news and human interest. They had to be told to stop inviting Nigel Lawson on to spout climate change denial without once asking where the money came from for his "think-tank". They will continue to invite Tice, Oakshott & Farage on while ignoring the Greens who have an MP.

Who would think be isolated from Europe with no merchant navy & reliant on imports was a bad idea. The "special relationship" has always been akin to a dog and a lamppost.

Very depressing list of stats. To add insult to injury Labour will not acknowledge this because of fear of the right-wing media that is still pro-Brexit. They would rather impose more cuts than take on the lies & BS of farage, Daily Fail, Excess etc.
19
Remember "Cash for question"? Hamilton etc look like rank amateurs compared to what is happening now. Sadly Labour will not tackle this as they want to do things that grab headlines rather than deal with corruption.
18
Shelagh Fogarty on LBC spoke to Rachel Johnson to get "impartial information"🤣 Who gave the "farmers" the permit to protest in London & disrupt traffic?
17
 @Kodakcompactdisc Should've gone to Specsavers
17
This is so depressing plus there are plenty of Tories who would continue to vote for them.

Bad-Enoch could pick a fight with her own shadow or at night in an empty room she is so belligerent & convinced she is never wrong. I should have watch Have I got News for You after this. The gem of the program was Andrea Jenkyns saying that "Honest" Bob & Bad-Enoch were both 1 nation Tories & too left-wing for her🤯

Q. Is Sunak collecting his PM salary as well as his MP one? Despite being a multimillionaire he claims staffing costs (whatever that is) 2015-16 £94k to 2022-23 nearly 211k. Add to that he will get his government pension plus a pair security detail for life. Even when he quits as PM & an MP he will still be riding the gravy train at the tax-payers expense.

@stewie7338 Look in the mirror and say "I am a troll"

Tories blaming everyone but themselves for the problems they have created & those they have failed to solve. Easy quiz: name 1 government department that is working properly?
11
An incoming Labour government must enforce Leveson 2. It must also introduce legislation to ban foreign ownership of UK media: if you don't live in the country & pay tax here then you have no right to dictate how the country is run. Murdoch had to become a US citizen to buy Fox, so why don't we have a similar rule? Rothermere wants to say he is a resident of France for tax purposes, fine, then sell the daily heil.

@billywiz1307 Half the electorate didn't vote for BREXIT, it was 1/3rd because 1/3rd of eligible voters didn't cast a ballot. what percentage of older leave voters have now died? It is not for politicians to capitulate to populism & lies. Why facts change then so must your attitude.

J O'Brien on LBC had a disagreement with a Scottish caller who finally when repeatedly questioned as to the sources of his news/information said "Brietbart". Never underestimate the willingness of some to believe lies & misinformation because it panders to their prejudices. Hence reform plc voters.

I wouldn't trust Badenoch to tell me the time. Radio 4 Farming Today has said that due to lake of biosecurity under the Tories, on average, we are importing a new tree disease every 18 months e.g. Ash dieback

Brexit the gift that keeps on giving🙄, bad news, problems & economic penalties.

What a rogue's gallery!
7
The orange narcissist's supporters have already floated the idea that the 2 term limit only applies to 2 consecutive terms
6
Brexiteers displaying the attitude of the Black Knight from Monty Python & the Holy Grail; they will never accept that Brexit was a bad idea & the negative consequences.

Waiting on a rent review & it was only 15 months since the last that made a 10% increase. With no energy support it will be a cold winter ahead.

I refuse to show voter ID when I'm on the electoral roll & a council tax payer. I have applied for a postal vote. I hope but doubt the Labour government will repeal these pointless laws. BBC have always had IEA on QT, Any Questions, Daily Politics etc regularly for years without once stating they are a right-wing & not independent "think-tank"; they also invite Farage & UKIP on much more frequently than their electoral success, or lack of it, would suggest. Good video Rob & yes we need to ditch FPTP but don't count on Labour doing anything: they are already running scared of any policy that could be called radical or reforming. Personally I blame our old friend Blair who had the majority to shake things up but instead carried on kissing Murdoch's arse and keeping the rest of the biased right-wing media "onside"
4
Because ratings & sales plus "balance"

None so blind as those who don't want to see. I can only hope there will be a change once Labour is elected but I fear they will still act with timidity and do little because of fear of the right-wing media.

@stevejones2310 😆 that is why so many businesses fail in the UK: poor management that want all the perks but blame everyone else for their failure.

 @stewie7338 Not a very good troll 🙄

Baker & his ERG soulmates are still charlatans & they have nothing useful to say.

The Conservatives deserve at least 20 years in the wilderness to understand that their role in government is to make things better & not to have power for powers sake or to concentrate on internecine warfare over ideology while the country goes to wrack and ruin. Happy Easter, enjoy your shrinkflation egg, and realise the tomb is as empty as the policies of the failed Tories.
3
Kemi Badenough? Kemi BadEnoch? Neither right nor honourable! This is surely misuse of public money. There is no road to recovery if the current iteration of the Conservative party gets back into power for at least 20 years.
3
Shame on the BBC giving air time to Farage to talk nonsense. "True Believers" like Farage & Tice are just like the doctors of old that were convinced that blood-letting was the cure & didn't accept that their actions killed the patient.
3
It was the British government at the end of Empire that setup the tax havens so that the islands had a source of income & were no longer depending on hand outs from the UK. It is also within the control of the UK government to regulate & reform many of these tax havens as they remain "Crown Dependencies". Don't forget that close to home the IOM & Channels Islands are all too willing to be helpful if it benefits the ruling elites while throws the crumb of no VAT to the plebs. BTW Bermuda doesn't makes it money by selling shorts. The UK presides over the Augean Stables

I'm tired of all the Red Tory comments: are they from bitter Corbynistas who would rather be in opposition than have a Labour government. The world has moved on as has the Overton window. There is no prospect of going back to the Labour party pre-Thatcher. If after Starmer walks into No. 10 he announced the renationalisation of the railways, water & energy within a year the markets/banks would stop it just like they did to Truss. When the economy is so bad it is childish to expect transformational change in a matter of months especially under Reeves as Chancellor who accepts the economic orthodoxy of the last 40 years ( she is no Keynesian)
3
Tories have run the country into the ground over 13 years, first with austerity & then with Brexit then finally mishandling the Pandemic plus the PPE scandal.
3
Depressing that Labour is so timid about the EU & BREXIT damage. As I have commented before they need to implement Leveson 2 and PR. Without them the right-wing media will still hold thrall over public opinion & Labour.

@BethanyLloyd-h6t & J D Vance, "I've known him for 12 years" said Fartarge plus Vance is a protege of Thiel

The Daily Liar a fact free space. For over 30 years governments have ignored the demographic bomb that is the retirement of the "Baby Boomers", no plan = crisis. Ever since Thatcher the right-wing have blamed the poor for being idle & feckless plus benefits scroungers. The latest story of getting early retires back into is a joke. It is only the rich that can retire at 55 & that was permitted by Tory legislation & encourage by massive tax breaks that facilitated large payments into the private pension.

You're in the Philippines & don't know 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Reform plc is a Trojan horse for the far-right, foreign interference & oligarchs.

Good video, great facts. Tories have been like Vulture capitalists & asset strippers; they have gutted the country's economy & public services while impoverishing the populace in general. There is a chance that a Liberal can unseat the Tory MP in my constituency but it may not happen as too many will still vote Conservative & other voters will not make a tactical change from Labour

The jury is still out on whether Starmer is "keeping his powder dry" to not be "monstered" by the right-wing media or to misstep & give the Tories an advantage. The downside is that while trying to be bland & inoffensive voters have no clue what he will do in government. I fear that Labour will repeat the mistakes of the Blair government who: didn't repeal any anti-union legislation, continued with "right to buy", didn't stop using PFI/PPP and cosied up to Murdoch & did nothing to curb the excesses of the Tabloids, never undid any of the disastrous privatisations; lastly, failed the British electorate buy abandoning electoral reform & sticking with FPTP thus giving us 13 years+ of Tory rule. All these things did more damage than the Lefts' obsession with the Iraq war

I take no blame away from Thatcher & her spite to destroy the coal industry because it was strongly unionised & had damaged the Heath government of which she was part. From my studies of industrial geography back in the day the demise of the UK steel industry dates back to the Wilson Labour government in the 1960's. To make steel you need 3 things: iron ore, limestone for flux & coal that is transformed into coke. The country's supply of ore exhausted, it had to be imported. Rather than the pragmatic decision of economy of scale of 1 large plant a political decision was made to split in 2, so Ravenscraig & Llanwern were built at half size. With no UK coal that too had to be imported & the cost of imported goods can vary. With privatisation the railways bought foreign, cheaper, steel for the rails. UK shipbuilding died. The sensible solution was to switch to making high grade steel & specialist alloys like the Swiss & Japan but the old path was retained & the UK couldn't compete with Japan, Korea, Germany, Poland etc
2
Can Labour stop doing everything at a snail's pace! Idiotic decision to cut foreign aid to boost defence: so many other ways to raise money needed is only Reeves & Co weren't wedded to cuts as the only solution, i.e. have a flat rate of 25% on pension tax relief (why do the rich get 40%)
2
Starmer & Co still running scared of the right-wing media & Brexiteers rather than have an adult conversation with the country, telling them the truth.
2
Bot, troll or fool? Post is full of lies. The British empire died after WW2 therefore there are no more colonies.
2
What all the Brexiteers seem to have missed or been ignorant of, as well as others, is that the £ is a Petro-currency. Once North Sea oil & gas runs out the economy is going to take a hit as we have lost our manufacturing base, heavy industry etc so what is there to export. The trade deficit will continue to grow.
2
Allister Heath: you only have to read the headline & first sentence of his pieces to know he has a very slim grim on reality. As for reform plc they never say HOW they will fix the problems they identify (real or imagined). In short they are con-artists.
