  11. Policing in the US is broken! Their first recourse is to confront and use violence. They have forgotten that they are part of the citizenry & that they police with the consent of their fellow citizens. It seems that from a UK perspective that they perceive the general public as the enemy and treat them as hostile &/or a threat. 2 examples from New York City both involving approaching a police officer to ask for directions: 1 my brother (white), response "Go buy a map" 2 A Black middle class friend of a radio journalist Step back!" and officer draws his weapon. They seem to think that becoming the Republicans of the 1960's & 70's is the key to success. The US doesn't have an extreme left. The current Dems under Biden are NOT centerists, they are center-right. They are out of touch with the electorate by trying to make their donors happy. If Dems went hard on universal healthcare they would win more.

  28.  @emerg0n0see  For a start common sense is not common. 2. define common sense with regard to the law. 3 don't ignore the fact that the parents were called to a school meeting and did nothing to protect their child and other children from him when presented with evidence combined with their prior knowledge ( did they tell the school he had access to a gun?). That is why the parents have been charged with manslaughter. The school acts In Loco Parentis but the duty of care was with the parents as soon as they attended the meeting. Again you are not aware of the full facts and the law yet trying to blame the school. Lesson cannot and will not be learnt due to the NRA, Republicans and the 2nd Amendment because not every school is fitted with metal detectors and full-time security to frisk all the children.
