Same in Vietnam, people guessed that I was Japanese or Chinese... I'm a Black Latino.
107
I knew that he would make Inner-Mongolia #1.
65
It's funny, Asians see an Asian+White "that person looks completely white", Whites see an Asian+White "that person looks completely Asian".
45
You haven't ever seen anyone speak Vietnamese or Papiamentu. 🤣

01:45 I literally saw that joke played out on some Chinese-American drama, where the small village blonde American man brings his Black friend to Soviet-China and they play that joke straight for around a minute. At first the Black guy was offended but after like 30 seconds he understands what it means. I think it's a film from the 1990's or 2000's, maybe someone will know its title.

As someone that actually uses emoji's and timestamps and has a Vietnamese username I'm suddenly worried that YouTube will think that I'm one of them. 😒
11
It's not unique to China, it's literally universal, wherever humans are they care about "face". In Corporatespeak it's called "brand".
10
Half-Sub-Saharan African children today aren't treated any better, I know of a half-Tanzanian boy who moved to Europe because of the discrimination.
9
Not just the Chinese, all Asians, saw the same in other Asian countries too.
8
@quyenluong3705 Yeah, this is also why Minh Mang claimed that Vietnamese people were real Hans and that people from the Qing Dynasty were "Qing barbarians", the reasoning being that Vietnam preserved Han Chinese culture while the Qing mixed it with Manchu culture (basically any stereotype people have of the Chinese today originates from the Manchu's).
7
06:30 In Vietnam we have that with Thanh Hóa, everyone seems to hate them, yet while I was in Hanoi most foreigners I knew that dated Vietnamese (wo)men dated those from this province.
6
@quyenluong3705 Mao tried to replace Chinese script with Latin script as Ho Chi Minh Did in North-Vietnam, but his good friend Joseph Stalin told him to keep Chinese characters, that's the only reason why Mainland-Chinese people don't write deformed Latin script today like us Vietnamese do.
6
If you experience a micro-agression you become micro-offended.
6
@schrodingerscat4769 I saw some people like that in the rural area around Hanoi, very old people who were likely half-French.I could see that they were Eurasian and the newer generation of Eurasians are completely unlike them,as they tend to actually speak French.
4
If Hong Kong would become "just another Chinese city" we can expect the entire city's population to start systematically disappearing into concentration camps, while "Xianggang's" population will be replaced with Mainlanders who'll desecrate whatever foreign influence they find in "Xianggang", 10 years from now you'll see "Xianggangren" topple double decker buses, you'll see them destroying anything with English and Cantonese names (probably by people dumb enough to think that these are "symbols of American imperialism"), and the native population would have almost all been exported to the Mainland where they will be forced to work for free because of perceived crimes against "the security of the Chinese state".
4
Caucasians are usually pretty dark skinned, just look at the Kardashians, ¿or didn't you mean Caucasians as in people from North-West Asia?
4
09:14 That's "Taiwan" (real China).
4
They don't work for the government, ONLY the Communist Party.
4
18:30 Normal name, I named one of my children "Adolf", it's not an odd name. It is like saying that "Benito", "Francisco", and "Joseph" are bad names because of other dictators.
3
16:35 Maybe they originally meant Amos.
3
07:20 Using Chinese characters to write Vietnamese would be a better system as Latin script is very context based while if Vietnamese used Chinese characters it would have been really easy to machine-translate.
3
01:46 I didn't want to laugh, but this just sounds so absurd, even though it's true.
3
The Communist Party is like a virus that learns to overcome any vaccine, first it attacked and protests stopped it, then it attacked again and knew how to better fight protests, it's learning and adapting to any threat it faces. The world has to act soon before we'll have another Soviet Union on our hands, one that systematically tries to avoid "any Gorbachev situations" by punishing any potential reformers from within.
3
That's actually very backwarded, it gives a sense of superiority or exclusivity, image how racist Americans would get called if McDonald's had a secret menu only for White people in China...
3
It is just a display of wealth, this is the same literally everywhere.
3
Asians say that half-Asians look white while Whites say that half-Asians look Asian.
3
North Africa ≠ Sub-Saharan Africa. As a generalisation, I know plenty of people from Sub-Saharan Africa and often they show me pictures of their home villages, the stereotypes of straw huts and starvin' Marvins on every corner is unfortunately still true. Thankfully Africa is rapidly developing, but Algeria has been a relatively wealthy area for thousands of years, so it's not a good comparison.
3
My experience with overseas Asians is that they dislike non-Asians who are interested in Asia, and while in Asia whenever I met other White people they acted very antagonistic towards Asians interested in Western culture, Asians in the west go to the west because they want to be in the West, Westerners in the East go to the East because they want to be in the East. This is why the internet is such a great tool because if I would tell an Asian here that I'm interested in traditional Asian culture they would automatically hate me but in Asia those people are the norm, meanwhile those that go out of their way to talk to me at first are usually those that are only interested in my culture which I myself have very little with.
2
Good, I've always disliked the sycophantic nature of adopting an English name.
2
I know of a U.S. American bloke who has two daughters in Hanoi with a Vietnamese woman, the aunt of those children exclusively speaks English with them, even if they want to speak Vietnamese with her, in Vietnam you don't have "mixed" children, either you're Asian or you're a 西, there is no middle ground, and children of foreigners are always perceived as foreigners.
2
@qrsx66 It was exposed, it was talked about a lot by Marvel fan channels.
2
Not unique to China, all Asians are like this. I've never seen a Filipino, Indonesian, or Vietnamese actually finish a meal.
2
16:09 I see anti-Chinese protests like that in Hanoi all the time, the media praises those people, but the moment you see people protest the government or the Communist Party then all the newspapers are silent 😶.
2
That's just socialism, but then again there are people like this in every country, but it's if the government does this that it becomes worrying.
2
10:25 Same here, in fact many White women have more hair than me. My Asian wife does not even understand why waxing products are so common among White women.
2
Thankfully tens of millions of Chinese people are still living in freedom in the Republic of China 🇹🇼.
2
I see Chinese people let their children pee in public in Amsterdam, I find it funny that even people from their neighouring countries find it odd, even ethnic Chinese from the region.
2
ALL these things sound EXACTLY like my Vietnamese wife, ¿Are you sure Vivi isn't Vietnamese?
2
Chinese Nationalists = Taiwan, loving the People's Republic is a hatred of China.
2
Before this video starts, I'm pretty sure that the Chinese he was speaking was either Jyut ("Cantonese") or Ban-Lam ("Taiwanese"), which are the politically incorrect kinds. Wait, all versions other than Mandarin are "politically incorrect".
2
16:35 Actually Nollywood (Nigeria), not Hollywood makes the most movies (quantitively), but Hollywood makes the most expensive movies (so the best qualitively, excluding plots of course).
2
In Asia people eat almost everything with chopsticks, in fact now that my wife lives in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 she still doesn't understand how forks work and today I ate mashed potatoes with chopsticks, actually worked pretty fine.
1
14:15 if you have Đ 10.000.000,- and you can't spend it then they are trying to scam you out of more money.
1
07:50 It still says that it's a Chinese passport, it says "中華民國" not "台灣國", when Taiwan actually declares itself separate from the Republic of China 🇹🇼 it may claim itself to be a country, but the country remains the Republic of China 🇹🇼.
1
I had this in Hanoi, I came to know a few men who spoke German and told me that they dated (East-)German women just to learn the language, this mentality exists everywhere.
1
They could either mean Hungarian or Mongolian.
1
That's not a cure, it's a part of the problem (mean-spirited apathy).
1
Then you are not China, you're a Huaren.
1
12:15 This is only true because Han-Chinese people were all forced to adopt the same culture and language, in 1911 all Han regions were extremely diverse.
1
14:22 ¿did his voice get deeper?
