Same in Hanoi, I had to do a lot of medical tests before getting married and I barely saw a single disabled person anywhere, in the old city they have disabled people who according to some locals get hired to beg for money (or might even be human trafficking victims to beg foreigners for money), other than that I literally saw a young woman with Down Syndrome once and the people in the streets rather than just laughing at me because I'm foreign were laughing at her. Maybe handicapped people do exist in Vietnam, but they probably get shamed (read: Laughed at) too much by everyone around them to leave their houses.

Everything is expensive too, I will take Hà Nội over any Western city any day.

Same goes for Vietnam 🇻🇳, Hà Nội is a city mostly built by the French and most of the city is very much styled after a French city and if you're from the West visiting Hà Nội will be like visiting a European city filled with Asians, but the moment you leave Hanoi and go to the many villages around it you might not ever see another White person and not a single person understands English, the shops are very different, what goes in Hà Nội goes nowhere else. Leaving Hanoi for a place like Hai Duong is like going from Europe to Asia with a bus.

  37. As someone who has lived in Vietnam (Hanoi) for quite some time, I won't say that Mainland China sounds too far off from Vietnam. But barring foreigners from places is actually kind of rare, they usually charge us ten times and gives us less, but it's not too far from the Chinese experience.
