They should’ve been towing their cars away with no warning on Sunday. And they should’ve shut down that dodgy kitchen in a former garage that is supplying them with food. And shut down the supply of port-a-loo’s. The lack of action over these idiots is ridiculous.

@wekiwisdofly85 why should this be underground?!
1
@wekiwisdofly85 Because it would cost many magnitudes more to construct. And with the freight movements; it would be more expensive to run and keep ventilated.
1
@wekiwisdofly85 Hahahaha at you thinking that spending money unnecessarily is a good idea…
1
@wekiwisdofly85 It doesn’t need to be underground, the way forward is just building it.
1
@ And why is that? Having the thing built above found will still deliver the same outcome.
1
@ They can get that by just grade separating it into cut trenches and raised culverts/viaducts. For much less money. They only resort to expensive tunnelling when it’s the cheapest option due to either 1) too much earth on top to excavate (like a mountain) or 2) Too much expensive real estate to demolish 3) Bridge would need to span too long a distance. In any case; Onehunga is not an especially busy suburb with heavy traffic.

@ataxpayer723 I agree. I use the bus to Puhinui, and then the trains, every time I visit Auckland from Wellington. And it’s always quick and convenient, and not pricey, and easy to use, and criminally underused. The airport buses in Wellington & Christchurch get more patronage despite getting more caught in traffic. Aucklanders don’t know what they already have.

People taking business trips. Tourists.

@ataxpayer723 So where does the other 95% go?

@was-a-very-fat-fish The railways have owned the land for decades, there’s no other options. They’re just those low quality timber weatherboard houses, they can be replaced and probably will be (with terraced housing or blocks of flats).
1
@was-a-very-fat-fish No. They need it to be mainline and be used by freight movements. And they can’t make a move on any major works on the existing corridor, such as lengthening platforms for 9 cars, or widening for another line, until this is done first. It’s the next piece in the puzzle. Light rail down Dominion road is a garbage idea pushed by dubious charlatans and it’s been buried forever.
1
@was-a-very-fat-fish They are going to build it were it was always intended to go.

@csaw200 It's government land and you're not allowed to camp-out on either public land nor government land. Why do you think the police sometimes make freedom campers and homeless people move-on? You're only supposed to camp-out on either camping spots (although they turn a blind eye if you camp in the middle of the bush)..

So do you think New Zealand should do nothing instead or something?
1
I can’t see it ever happening. I know that the city council challenge failed today but it is just too much money quoted and too much disruption. $7.4 billion dollars for a city of not even 250,000 people?! For that amount of money they could tunnel the mainline rail under the city! Where is this money going to come from? I noticed these people they’ve interviewed who are positive without questioning it are younger. I have to wonder about the education system in NZ and if it still fosters critical thinking skills.

Holdens were pieces of crud. Our police force only suffered them due to a deal with Australia (the Aussie taxpayer paid something like $5 dollars for every one of them).
1
For what? Doing their job? And a tough job at that...
1
@WinahhTaylahh That’s pretty funny coming from an NRL fan.
1
Why? They have a poor reputation as a auto manufacturer.
1
What do you mean by “can’t finish”?
