  42. There should be a public option for housing in every major city in the country. You should be able to go down to the housing authority in Boston, NYC, DC, etc, and they should have an apartment available for you that day, at a price the government makes a modest profit from. Then they should use that profit to subsidize housing more lower income people. This solves the whole “ghetto” concern trolling, as if even the most notorious 20th century housing projects were worse than a tent city anyway. Private sector housing is so substandard these days. They need competition. Badly. There needs to be state level preemption of zoning laws. Housing should not be this difficult. These are entirely self imposed problems.

Israel isn't settling a damn thing in Gaza, there's a separation wall, it's an open air prison. The illegal settlements are in the West Bank, in territory that should be controlled by the Palestinian Authority. The Palestinian Authority was expelled from Gaza by Hamas 15 years ago. The Palestinian Authority has about as much jurisdiction over Gaza as Baghdad had over Mosul after it fell to ISIS.
