  2. They are throwing a lot of men at the issue & Russia is grinding them down. Eventually they run out of men. Wars take time if you are fighting to the very last man or woman. If Russians had such issues - we would know about them - from Russians themselves. They are as vocal as Ukrainians (I wonder why is that). But we do not. Popasna was not halted - they simply move slowly to save their troops. When they crossed the main road they were in the open - so artillery hit them hard. Since they are not paranoid about holding terrain at any cost, they immediately retreated to save troops. They waited till enemy artillery was no more - then move forward. This is what pisses off a lot of Ukrainians - they are killed off one by one, while Russians save their men. It infuriates them.

  3.  @enriqueperezarce5485  Nah these are mobilized ex soldiers - i.e. veterans. They are not stupid. Plus to create panic Ukraine would actually need to break through - which seems unlikely.

  4.  @ABOBA-jh4nx  Russians are already in Bakhmut. I expect Russians to take the city in the next few days, depending on how big losses Ukraine wants to sustain. Sure Ukraine can attack Kherson again - they did so like 50 or more times already.

  5.  @ABOBA-jh4nx  there is not enough aviation available in all post Soviet countries to make much of a difference. Russia has best in the world air defenses and 10x bigger air force. There is not much Ukraine can do. They lost the war. Russia will keep on pushing. Ukraine will keep on retreating and taking massive losses. Question is what is 3rd phase???

  6.  @ABOBA-jh4nx  Well, I expect phase 3 to start in September - no idea what Russia will go for, Odessa? Kharkiv? Buffer zone to Dniepr river? But if Russia does not mobilize then this thing is not over by winter - unless Ukraine finally realizes it lost the war.

  8. The main question is when will the war start. China needs to analyze the US aid to Taiwan vs. Its own growing capabilities and figure out proper timing. China needs to mobilize it's massive industry to support the operation. The number of drones and missiles used in the first week of the operation needs to approach 1000 per day.

I like how US went to SA to beg for oil - they sure protect freedom alright ;) I do not agree with Russia taking ethnic territories of Ukraine, but Crimean and Donbass clearly do not want to be under Kiev regime, here Kiev regime is clearly the aggressor and bad guy. It is clear that Russia will have to take more land to make sure that Ukraine, what is left of it, is no longer a viable state & a threat.

  13.  @fredbyoutubing  What hate? What propaganda? So you still have no arguments? And what about NATO - it never blamed itself for anything and NATO is US. How many wars did NATO fight? How many millions of people it killed in the last 20 years? Of course solution is for Ukraine to capitulate as there is no point of fighting a war it has lost. Germany did it in 1918. When the war started the Russian proposal was quite fair, Crimea + Donbass i.e. predominantly Russia areas. I am sure to it one could add making Bandera from Hero of Ukraine to Enemy of Ukraine and disbanding all these Nazi units. Ukraine can have its western ties - say EU membership, but being part of NATO or hosting NATO or any dealings with NATO is a no go. I do not see this as outrageous - it is fair. I do not find it amusing that no one can have military base within 1000 miles of US or they get smashed while much more modest Russian need is seen as evil. No one again is talking about absorbing democratic countries or even Ukraine (which I do not consider a democracy) into the fold of Russia. His ambitions are nothing but clear. Imperialism is shown to be that of the west. This is why the reds always said they fighting imperial pigs. You get a grip on reality. Its no longer 1960s. Asia is FREE! They can clearly see the west for who they are. You can no longer tell black or brown or yellow or any other colored people to jump. They refuse to and will resist western ambitions with force of arms, and soon their economic might. The time of western imperialism is over - Asia is coming online as world leader. Also for all this talk about democracy, why you are soooooo against letting people decide their future! Allergic to elections you can loose?

"Russian influenced proxy government" was elected by elections certified by EU and UN. "NATO was invited to help Ukraine because it was threatened by Russia from the start" - no it was not - do you have any source of this? "the west is a "threat". -- sure it is. Remember the colonialism? Remember the influence, do as we say or else? The world is fighting back! All people should have a voice and all people should have the basic right to determine their future. The "west" simply does not understand this.

  15.  @DoctorDestyNova  i doubt Ukrainians deployed even close to this number. Russians also do not have that many troops deployed. Maybe 40k. They never had more then around 110k deployed. Around 120 BTGs max.

  16.  @DoctorDestyNova  Ukraine probably out numbers the Russians at this very moment. The problem is Russia has super good artillery and some air power. Also Ukrainians in Donbass are demoralized as they are fighting for someone else's home while Donbass Ukrainians are on home ground.

  25. The short answer is NO. As in Vietnam, weapons will only pre-long the war, but not the result. What NATO has to do is say send Poland in. This will major pre-long the war. To actually win the war - "win" - US would need to enter the war.

  28.  @gtrdoc911  it is not a hyperbole. Germany was clearly loosing in 1917, despite going on large offensives and despite front line not moving. Central powers lost the war as they were badly out gunned. Not as badly as Ukrainians are.

Once Russians are removed from Kharkiv region then WHAT? Also Izium offensive lost steam like 2 or 3 weeks ago. I do not think troops there are scheduled for any attacks - Russians are taking land in Donbass from the other end.

  32.  @davout5775  Why were old Soviet systems not exactly great? Being in the western part of Soviet sphere Ukraine got in 1992 the latest stuff. Then this stuff got upgraded to different degree. I.e. it was not some obsolete junk and there was a LOT of it. Russian missiles are very accurate as making guidance system that is accurate is not a mystery for well over 20 years.

  33.  @davout5775  There is no issue with S-300 use as per Ukraine - they were responsible as per Ukraine for a LOT of kills. Ukraine says they were upgraded. They do list to what level. S-300 missile system is NOT used to defend against low flying subsonic anti ship missiles - you use close in weapon systems. S-300 system is area defense system similar to Patriot system - and is of same role. The Kh-35 missiles most likely responsible for sinking Moskva are rather modern weapon & fly at just few meters above the sea. They would be engaged by close in weapon systems not S-300. Modern S-300 minimum engagement altitude is said to be 25m. This is much higher than the 15m en route and 4m at target of Kh-35 missile. Besides it is questionable there would even be time to use S-300. I do not know for sure what did happen to Moskva - but if it was the missiles most likely due to sea state at the time the cruise missiles were detected too late or maybe not at all.

  34.  @davout5775  It depends on which S-300 and which Patriot system. Some old S-300 may be ... well old and equivalent to original Patriot. Latest S-300 evolved to S-400 which is significantly better system than latest Patriot system. S-300 is not exactly one S-300 - it is same as there is not one Patriot. There are dozens of versions of S-300. The original S-300 is from the early 80s but with original radars it already had PESA radar - i.e. even original S-300 with original radar was not analog. Of course you could connect some older radar system to it. In the early 90s S-300 systems gained ability to down short and medium range ballistic missiles. S-300 and later on S-400 are truly awesome air defense systems. Ukraine had a whopping 250 S-300 systems. To replace these they requested ... 50 Patriot batteries. Just to give you an idea of how strong Ukraine air defenses were. Germany has 12 Patriot batteries - so ballistic defense of Ukraine was roughly 4x stronger than that of Germany (!)

  35. Clearly Soviet / Russian doctrine is superior as they are winning the war and have taken vastly less casualties both in man power and equipment. Given at peer victory of Russian Federation, they RF armed forces are now the best trained army on earth and most powerful, when adjusted for numbers.

With max of around 500k casualties? That would explain recruitment of children and elderly (above 62) by Ukraine! Yes, I seen 1000s of destroyed Ukrainian vehicles as well. This war shows that Russia has a very good, well trained military able to win at peer conflicts even with a very large enemy such as largest and most powerful land army entirely in Europe! Despite help of all of NATO.

  37.  @degreedmeteorologist1658  Attacking force looses 2 to 3x when they are same quality and same armaments. Here they are not. This is why Russian losses are so low compared to Ukrainian losses. Besides we know how many troops Russia deployed.

  39. Russia is clearly grinding Ukrainians to pulp. This has forced Ukraine to start using militia forces all over the place. BUT this is very slow and Russia cannot use all of her army.... So I think they should mobilize. At least partially. Then they can finish the war in few months. The 1.5:1 Russian advantage is a joke - there simply is no way only 44k Ukrainians are there - way, way more!

  42. Lets just say 2 days ago Ukraine changed their law regarding sending militia units to the front. Now they can leave their regions and go join regular army. You would not do that if you were not running low. Some brigades are battalion sized. All Russians need is to slowly grind on till Ukraine runs out... of meat.

  47. Wagner operation had multiple mistakes. Like taking the risk of pushing on despite heavy resistance and small ambushed. They should have retreated to the compound to wait for reinforcements.

  48. To few troops and too spread out artillery. The pincer through chernobyl only had 1 road AND troops committed were about same size as Police force in Kiev. It would have worked if there was minimal or no resistance. But there was moderate resistance - so no go.
