  1. Russia still moving forward and Ukraine cannot even do a larger counter attack. Come September operation will be over. I.e. Russia will offer peace as it will have achieved all verifiable goals of the operation.

Russia cannot send untrained recruits as it has none to send. What new weapons are taking the tall? Everything Ukraine gets or has is sent to the front line immediately. There is no "reserve army". Ukraine lost the war. There is no path to victory. The talk is how defeat will look like. Mostly, will Ukraine loose only what Russia controls now, will it loose half the country or will Kiev regime be removed. That is the main direction.

  4.  @Rednek0117  LOL, they sent every little bit of western equipment to the front. They are using 100% of what they got. This is why any grand counter offensives are out of the question as there are no grand reserve armies that are equipped with western stuff.

  9.  @jnygaarddk  Also find it questionable - this was supposedly ready to use ammo - so I find it unlikely that charges were placed more than few hours before the blast. I rather believe it was internal - almost entire UA army in Crimea joined RF after Crimea became part of Russia. Maybe some of these pp had change of heart.

  14. Russia would have no problem with either war crime trails as long as done by say Asian court system or African court system & involved criminals from Ukraine. Repatriations are on the table as well as a swap for sanctions. Putin and end of the war are in no shape and form related. Any future leader will do exactly same as Putin.

  17. Russian KIA max is 70k, UA KIA max is 300k. More realistic is 45- 60k and 200 - 250k for Ukraine.

  25.  @buck4490  Its not just Turkey - US would sanction anyone whom ever thinks of buying S400. It does not matter if they are in NATO or not. The F35 is just a total joke and excuse - it is simple sanction and punishment for Turkey for getting S400, has nothing to do with eavesdropping or spying etc. That is total BS. A lot of NATO members use non NATO stuff - I do not see a problem there. Russia is not at all close to SA. SA has only raw materials and noting else of note in addition to being absolute monarchy. Russia is 2nd largest exporter of weapons on Earth and is over 50% more then 3rd (France). As for high tech, Russia is ranked 10th on Earth, so not bad, not great either. Hardly "none". It would be better if not for very heavy brain drain of talented workers ( I briefly worked in US where half of all programmers were from former Soviet Union).

The legal procedure is called war of independence. It is legal under UN. I.e. under UN law people have the right to decide their future. Oh and who founded Azov and friends? Mermaids? Oh so is Kosovo legal or illegal, is Taiwan legal or illegal - you did not answer - I assume you have no answer. This all comes down to freedom. US people fought the British in totally illegal insurrection to gain their freedom. But as with Vietnam, now with Donbass, US says clearly that freedom is only for US people not for anyone else that does not align with US. That is it. Total hypocrisy. Why you deny people of Donbass their freedom? What did they do to you? Why you deny their right to chose? Don't believe in freedom huh? The only country on earth that I know of which seems at least on paper to offer right of separation is Canada. In Canada there are laws governing secession of provinces. Never yet tested, but in theory will of the people should be respected. Even UK is not that free as Scotland wanting 2nd referendum due to UK leaving EU is seen as a NO! You can have a referendum as long as your vote is "correct one". So much for your BS about freedom - freedom is a tree that is nourished with the blood of patriots - there is not peaceful process - you need to fight for your freedom. Interestingly Ukraine could have kept Donbass if they did similar laws as Canada did with Quebec. But they refused!

  31.  @MrJdsenior  Clearly ISIS is better at this as they taken Mosul - which is like 2nd largest in Iraq, despite being outnumbered more than 10 to 1 and out gunned around 100 to 1 in just 3 days. US lost to the Taliban and created a country that fell in ... also 3 weeks, despite being larger than Iraq (!) so the Taliban moved faster then US army in Iraq (!) US loss to the Taliban was due to repeat once and again failed strategy of fire bases. US did not learn from the British or Soviets at all and simply repeated their usual way of fighting - which is totally defensive. This lead the Taliban to control all around US fire bases while US took low losses as a result of not engaging. Once US started to roll back fire bases Taliban just took over & thus the 3 week advance. Since Russia mobilized we have not seen even a single Russian withdrawal being announced. Many people expect Ukraine to sue for peace this year. I.e. the war for Ukraine is lost and they need an exit. I expect Ukraine to fight a bit longer - but I doubt they will last till next summer. Russians do not have any WWII tanks left - they have so few T-34s they had to buy them from Asia for parade use. And what about Ukraine - they are out of tanks now. All Russia needs to do is keep going. Ukraine can only pro-long the war but clearly they cannot reach anywhere close to a "win". War is fully controlled by Russia - they can do offensives if they feel like or not - enemy is unable to sustain operations + the rest of the country is disintegrating. There is very real chance of a collapse of Ukraine as a country after the war.

  34.  @wai828  Russian troops announced withdrawal from Kherson around September - google for exact date. Sure, Ukraine is stupid so let them fight to the end. Russia is winning according to all sane people looking at the war. Ukraine has zero room to maneuver. Most western assets are used up. And no more are on the way. Russia did not throw everything it has - Russia has lots and lots of room - they can mobilize more, they can ask for help from allies etc. They can defend or attack. Lots of room. Sure, Ukraine can still win - chances are about 0.1%. Chances of Russian victory are 99.9%. Would you bet on Ukraine with such odds? Germany could also still win in 1945.

Who is going to go and rise - Russians against Russians? LOL! Ukraine did not achieve anything other than some tactical gains and now they are loosing initiative. Population belief is irrelevant - Germans believed in victory in 1945. So what? Winners like Ukraine don't surrender - clearly they are simply crushed. Same as winners in Nazi Germany. Ukraine achieves peace by negotiating an end of the war while they still have something to negotiate with. This is a huge win for Ukraine. Looking at Wagner Russia looks very solid. No one joined Wagner and no one is really sure this was a real deal. Especially the fact that Putin met Progrozin few days after supposed insurrection (!!!) Counteroffensive has failed. Putin has 76% support for the war - i.e. Russian people are with him. Russian economic data looks wonderful. There is less chance of Russian collapse than that of US. Ukraine on the other hand will need to be resolved by around April or March 2024 anyways as Biden - if he has even a hope of winning it - will need to remove shame of defeat before November elections way before said elections are held. There are clearly no weapons available to drag this for more than a year. Best solution is to get Ukraine to negotiate this year and sign by December 31st.

  39. LOL, so far it looks like Russia is going to surround a lot of troops to the west of Kherson. They only have 1 bridge and 3 roads. Russia already is attacking that bridge. 3 roads are 10km away from Russian troops.

  40.  @christophercousins184  West of Kherson as in moved to the border of the region south side and moved within 15km max of the Nikolayev city proper and within less then 10km of full cut off of all supplies in the north. If Russia and allies cut this off and blow ONE bridge a whole southern group of UA forces will be surrounded.

  45. Nah, if Crimea was in danger it would be clear cause for Russians to mobilize to push Ukrainians back. Invasion of Crimea would mean full mobilization of Russians. Even if NATO helped war would turn nuclear as Crimea is part of Russia as seen by 95% of Russians. It would be like taking Texas out of US by force and re-gifting it to Mexico. US would fight hard to keep it especially with Texans on US side.
